Rejected
Hey all! ;D
I'm not obese, just unfairly proportioned since I had a baby (145 lbs.) I auditioned at a club a couple of months ago, and was rejected. Manager said I had to tighten it up.
So, what should I do? Like, what exercises do you recommend?
I walk a couple miles every other day. I stretch every day. But I'm not sure what exercises are the best to help my midsection in terms of stripping? I should do a lot of cardio, right? Someone told me that before.
Thanks!

Re: Rejected
First off, I'm sorry about you getting rejected =( but congrats on the baby!
I'm not where near thin, but I'm getting there! I had a baby a year ago and didn't really try losing it until like 2 months ago =p I was 160 around the start of January, and now I'm 128 (still really high because of my height though). My brother is a personal trainer and helped me out a lot, here's some of the advice he gave me:
Cardio is great for getting rid of calories and slimming down all over, but to have that tight/toned look you need weight training. Not sitting on the "weight machines" (these immobilize and isolate to only one muscle), not just curling dumb bells, but good compound exercises (works more than one muscle).
My top 2 weight exercises are squats and bench press, which my brother swears by. He has a six pack and has never EVER done a single abdominal exercise in his life, and at one time he weigh 230lbs at only 5'2. When doing compound exercises with free weights, you're using almost all your muscles to lift, push, and keep your balance.
Another thing I do is instead of the "more reps, less weight" thing like most women do, I do less reps and more weight. A woman has to work damn hard to look like a body builder, and I'm not scared that I'll turn into a tree-trunk legged beast over night. The more muscles mass you have, the higher metabolism you have.
With weight training, you're building lean muscles and burning fat at a faster rate than cardio, but I pair my weight training with cardio to get maximum results.
My current workout routine, 6 times a week:
3.5 mile bike ride (about 15 mins or less)
3 sets of 8 reps @ 100lbs squatting
3 sets of 8 reps @ 70lbs for bench press (I'm weak in the arms =p)
3 miles on the elliptical
3.5 mile bike ride cool-down
I drink a Diet Muscle Milk afterwards too, because its like a rewarding shake and great for your muscles when they need to recover! I also am up my weights and distance during cardio once it gets too easy for me. I'm about to get into some bellydancing classes so I'm hoping it will help me shake off the love handles XD

Re: Rejected
^ I agree about the weight training.
Also remember that 80% of weight loss is how you're eating. I personally eat a paleo diet (meat, veggies, nuts, eggs, some fruit), I don't eat grains, sugars, anything processed.
It works for me, I ate this way during my most recent pregnancy and had a 9lb 3oz baby, and now she is 3.5 weeks old and I'm only 10 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight :D
I am convinced that starch, grain, and sugar carbs is what makes us fat- cut that stuff out and you will lose weight right away, combined with exercise- you'll be in great shape sooner!
check out The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf, good luck hun!

Re: Rejected
I've found this blog to be very helpful. I followed the eating plan in addition to exercising and it worked well for me! Good luck :-)
