banks, and handling your $
i've read a few threads where girls talked about depositing money nightly into the bank. personally i don't trust banks. i've thought about maybe getting a safe deposit box, or buying at home safe. i'm curious how many of you ladies have at home safes? do you think its a good idea. i live with family but still... you never can be to sure of anyone. i was looking at some at home depot the big ones that are fire, water, and security proof. they cost any where from i the 115 to 300 so its not that bad. only thing is they are heavy as hell. which is good but i don't know how i'd get it into my room.
my next question is keeping your money on you at work. i know girls who keep their money in work purses and some who use garters, but whats safest? i kinda like the garter around the ankle idea cuz its not so in your face but at the same time i'm nervous i dunno. when i was hostessing i'd just stick my money in my bra but that's not a option with dancing so i don't know.

Re: banks, and handling your $
I have a lot of money in the bank but I also have a safe at home for my cash. My safe probably cost about $200 and it's bolted to the floor. You would definitely have to have a guy help you get it in and installed.
Money around your ankle is probably safest since its relatively easy to lose a bag. If you turn your back for a second someone could snatch it. I never kept my money in a bag. I either put it in a locker or kept it on a garter around my thigh.

Re: banks, and handling your $
Exactly what Starxx said. I have a safe at home. I also keep my money around my ankle while at work. That has been the best for me. Some girls are hesitant to money in the bank....I guess its up to you. Whatever I put in the bank I pay taxes on. I like having decent tax returns.
-
Re: banks, and handling your $
i hate to say this LOL makes me seem like.... hehe but i've never paid taxes once in my life. i've had 4 regular jobs all before i turned 18. once i turned legal that was over.

Re: banks, and handling your $
I keep it on my ankle, coz no-one should ever be down there to get near it and if they do, my heel is nice and close ;D
But i also had a little purse for my lipgloss etc, and I'd put loose dollars that I got or whatever in there until they'd stacked up or I got something bigger, before I went to put it on my ankle, so that I wasn't having to re-do it every time I got a few bucks on stage.

May I ask why you don't trust banks? I keep money in both, but banks I think are safer than the money in my home. It would definitely be harder for someone to break into a bank than my home...I say you do both.

Re: banks, and handling your $
^^^ the 'quiet' issue with some banks is that, thanks to ongoing residential and commercial mortgage bankruptcies, literally thousands of banks are technically facing bankruptcy themselves. Of course the FDIC or NCUA insurance coverage means that depositors will eventually get their money back ... but eventually could mean months or even years. So far these sort of delays have been avoided because the FDIC was always able to work a 'takeover' deal. However, with the latest Bank of America 'leaks', this may not always be the case going forward.
As to the safety of home safes for 'strippers', the obvious issue from a robber / burglar's viewpoint is that stealing money from a 'stripper' typically involves low risk. The thinking goes that any 'stripper' who has not been 100% honest with the IRS is going to have problems even making a police report of the theft ... because the second question the police are going to ask after 'how much money was stolen' will be 'where did you get that money from in the first place'.
I actually employ two home safes. One is a fairly large conventional 'bolted to the floor' type that is fairly easy to find ... in which I keep about $200 and semi-important documents. The other is a fairly high-tech wall safe that is extremely well concealed ... in which I keep my very important documents and my serious cash and valuables. The idea of course is that the conventional first safe will serve as a 'distraction' for any would be burglar - who will spend their time trying to break into this safe instead of looking for a second one. And in the case of an armed robbery, after a bit of acting I can open the first safe, give the robber the $200, and say sorry that's all there is I just went to the bank. Meanwhile, all of my serious valuables remain untouched in the high-tech second safe !

Re: banks, and handling your $
where'd you get that nice safe melonie?

Re: banks, and handling your $
I have a fire safe at home. I only put enough money in my checking account for bills.
the safest place at work to keep your money is on your thigh, on your ankle, or in your locker. I prefer to keep it in a locker. I don't like showing how much money I have.
also, the safest way to make SURE no one tries to take your money is to act like you don't have any. when a girl asks you how well you're doing be like "shitty! I can't believe tonight!!!" or "I don't know...I have a headache I haven't really been trying".

Re: banks, and handling your $
prestly: i just don't like banks, like my checking account they are forever charging me over draft fees for no reason. example the money for my car was in my account they didn't put it threw to charge me and when the dealer but it threw the next day they let it go but charged me again... WTF thas crazy. if i wasn't on top of my finances they'd be making unnecessary money off of me. so then i was like i'll just get a safe deposit box. theres nothing wrong with that but i don't want to have to wait to get a hold of my $$ you know. i just feel better knowing that its in my place with me. plus everynight after work i can go over my inventory haha. i dunno i'm anal retentive.
i figure if i get a heavy one like almost 200 pounds whats the changes that someone is gonna be able to lift it plus i'ma bult it the floor.

i have one of those square make up boxes, it's a cube with a handle basically. i've used it since i started dancing and i love it because it doesn't fall apart and it sticks out like a sore thumb on the table, so i never walk off without it. i don't recommend the clear kind though, because i don't like people seeing how much money i have or what else i have in it. also, it's always a great conversation piece... guys seem fascinated by it.
a gf of mine has a safe deposit box, but she pays like $25 a month for it. getting a safe is a good idea, but put it in your closet or something, so it's not like, "Hey, look, I have a safe... there's stuff in it you want..."
also, on another note, keep the fact that you live at home to yourself when talking to customers. when i first started dancing, i was living at home and i had some customers feel like i "didn't need the money" and would spend less on me. which is funny because i was actually working toward getting out of an abusive household, but whatever.

Re: banks, and handling your $
I take my money and put it in the bank where I know it's safe. I don't keep large amounts at my house. I also don't tell anyone that I dance as people presume we have large amounts of cash on our premises. Little do they know that many dancers in Toronto average $100-200/night!
At work I keep all my valuables on me, instead of in my locker. I also don't drink that much so I know what's going on around me.

For what it's worth, in the USA both bank accounts and safe deposit box contents are readily accessible to the IRS ... including the gov'ts 'right' to freeze / seize the contents first and decide whether or not you really owe the money later.

that's actually a true statement for Canadian banks ... where 2 banks have failed compared to a thousand US banks !!!

Re: banks, and handling your $
I'm surprised at all the suggestions to keep your money in your locker at work.
This is probably the stupidest place you could keep it. Wall lockers are RIDICULOUSLY easy to break into... I can't even begin to count the number of times I've been working where girls have had money stolen out of their locker.
I also wouldn't keep it somewhere visible like on my thigh or ankle if you make a lot of money. Unless your club lets you cash in 20's for 100's regularly... it's basically like you're walking around displaying how much money they'd make robbing you after work.
I keep my money in a purse and I don't do stupid things like leave it sitting around. If I'm sitting it's in my lap. If I'm on stage it's on the center of the stage. If I'm doing a dance it's sitting on the back of the chair behind the customer so no one could get at it unless they physically reached past me.

Re: banks, and handling your $
I use sports wrist bands, like the nice wide ones used by tennis players, to hold my money.
I make a slit on the inside to put any hundreds or fifties I've made or exchanged lower bills for, and when it comes to ones and twenties I can shove a fair bit in there and rearrange it when there's a lull in dances. I've never lost money from it (though that doesn't mean you can't.) I have occasionally been asked if my wrist is broken because of the bump from my money, but I tell them it's my stripper wallet and they laugh. I've also worn a second one on my ankle so I can slip my big bills in that one and keep the wrist one for my twenties to turn in, or to make change with.
I prefer this to the rubber band option.
Insofar as banks go, I've only gotten back on track a little with saving so I have one account in one bank that I haveto walk into to deposit and take out. I'm planning on going to a second bank to put bill money into. And eventually I'd like to open an online account so that it's even harder to get to and easier to leave alone.
In the meantime, since you live with family, you only have your room to work with. You can always unscrew a wall socket and tie money in a small bag and put it in there, or else pull up a corner of carpet until you get your safe, but personally I wouldn't trust living with people more than a bank. I'd be more willing to trust a bank versus a family member or a friend of a family member rifling through your stuff and stealing

Re: banks, and handling your $
I don't get what's wrong with lockers. we have metal lockers at my club and no one has ever stolen anything out of the lockers that I know of. you would literally have to bring bolt cutters to get someone's money from them.
I personally don't feel comfortable carrying hundreds of dollars on me because I trust the customers less than I trust the girls! we get a lot of shady looking thugs.

Re: banks, and handling your $
bringonthemen: do the treasure shoes really work? can you carry alot of money in them?
also i'm very curious about the wristlet.
some of the girls here carry the long one shoulder type bags.... you know the kind coach or doony and burk make. personally i'd probably buy a coach because D&B just seems to lame to me.

Re: banks, and handling your $
I keep all my money in the bank. I have an account in the UK and one in France.
When I was in Spain however, I had to keep my cash at home, and I used to keep it at the bottom of a jumbo box of tampons. I was living in a gated community though, so I felt pretty safe.

You'd be suprised... Most of the time it just takes a screw driver jammed in the right spot.
The odds of you working with someone who knows how to open lockers is probably not that big... but if you do, she can basically rob girls all night and no one knows till they count their money, possibly long after she's already left.

Yes and yes.

Re: banks, and handling your $
Never put money in the locker at work!!!
I take all my IDS, credit cards out as well out of my locker and carry everything on me. For work I carry a purse with a handle that wraps around the wrist. It depends what your club does, if a girl wore money on her leg here people would be staring at her weirdly.
As for the bank, I trust the bank to a point. I put in a reasonable amount UP TO x- 200 each time I work. The rest, I stash away at home.
Im also tihnking of buying a safe. A small one to hide in the closet or something. But people Ive known to get stash of cash did buy safes that werent strippers.

bringonthemen: do you keep your wristlet on your while you give lap dances? does it get in the way?
kisca: my closet was gonna be my safe place as well. either there or maybe put a satin sheet over it and make it look like its a table with flowers on top. mostly i'ma use the closet though.

Re: banks, and handling your $
Just get some Treasure chest shoes for work - or if you want you're money to show a tip shoe.
It's a stripper shoe with a slot in it to put your notes.

Re: banks, and handling your $
I wouldn't use the lockers where i work because at anytime they can search your locker in the crack down on drugs or whatever.. but still its their lock and the club has the combos.. so i keep my money on me.. i prefer my ankle but since its mandatory we wear it on our thighs....it is what it is... i used to carry a purse..
currently trying to figure a different way to contain my money
