Re: Cam persona questions.
My original cam persona was just me. Most guys don't believe that that's actually the real you, though, and expect a fantasy, so I've been making small changes here and there.
Re: Cam persona questions.
Yep, who's to know who's being real or not. And really, I don't think it matters to be honest. We're actresses in so many ways anyway.
I have a character for cam, but I think you really have to "project" and connect with people, and if that isn't your natural personality, it's better to make it up!
Re: Cam persona questions.
I'm in the same boat as you crispy. Danced for like 8-9 years, built up this awesome stripper persona that i carried over into camming. After reading so much about people being themselves I decided to try it this weekend and it was SO much easier and pleasurable to be on cam. I actually had *fun* ::gasp::... really I've always hated camming. It was just a job to me, never fun, always a chore to log in and sit there talking to losers blah blah blah... it may be too soon to tell from just one day of switching it up a bit and being more "real" so i won't jump for joy just yet. But I'm going to continue with the more "real" approach for the most part just to see how I feel. I think it may be best to do a mixture of the two and know when to tweak it to a certain extent, if that makes sense. Obviously if a customer comes in and wants some sort of specific roleplay or fetish that won't be "real", and it's impossible for me to ever truly be horny on cam, so that won't be "real" either. But just sitting and chatting and such I probably won't feel the need to be this oversexed stripper goddess combination every time I hop on cam anymore lol...
Re: Cam persona questions.
I am totally dependent on my stripper/cam persona to get thru camming. The real me hates these men and has no problem saying so on cam. I didn't even want to get into Femme-Domme for a while because that's just too close to the kind of individual I really am, IRL.
Also, the real me doesn't do things these men insist on seeing or having me do. The real me doesn't smile (my jaw was broken), doesn't play games, doesn't care about their personal interests and doesn't care to share my own. The real me is extremely anti-social.
Re: Cam persona questions.
your still cool as shit though vivianbear, if I do say so myself.
Re: Cam persona questions.
^^
The real me thinks you're cool as shit, too. :)
I'm not trying to make myself out to sound all doom and gloom but honestly, these guys still don't want a real girl. Real girls have bad days, real girls get depressed, real girls don't want to masturbate for hours on end and then talk about it. They want girls who appear happy and smile and look like they're enjoying themselves ALL THE TIME. If you really can do these things in the allotted time you spend camming and find all these ways to appear entertaining as well as create a momentum in spending, I envy you. But that's never been my approach to it. I'm on call for sexual release and that's it.
Re: Cam persona questions.
If you can, its so much easier to base your work performance on your real self. It makes it soooo much easier to keep your story straight. But in addition to your regular self, add a touch of nymphomania;)
Re: Cam persona questions.
Since day one I was myself. I was clueless when I started doing this, and I think that if i was any other way I wouldn't be as successful. I like myself hahaha and I dont really feel like changing it. I love being genuine and sharing how I really feel with them. I think being yourself really gets you far on nights your not feeling ultra sexy and into doing big shows, because then you can just like your whole night ride on your awesome personality.
Re: Cam persona questions.
vivianbear makes a good point, something I hadn't thought about before - it's easy to be the real me on cam because I'm not on very often... if the real me is having a bad day, or depressed, or whatever, I don't go on. As a part-time camgirl, being me (or, a hyper version of me) is easy. If you're putting in hours and hours every single day, it might be easier to be a persona, because she doesn't fall prey to bad moods or other things "normal" people suffer through.
Re: Cam persona questions.
lol I pop a b complex before i go on... im happy as anything on cam!
Re: Cam persona questions.
Wow... lots of very interesting opinions and insights here.
I agree with 'be yourself... but add extra energy and nymphomania'. (And stick to your 'made up story' with respect to details like age, where you're from, etc, obviously.)
But on the other hand, I am also naturally antisocial, and the smile and the energy only last while I can still hear the $$$ rolling in. I guess this is why I can''t cut it on MFC. If I sit in front of a cam for 15 mins in a row without making anything, I get extremely antsy, irritated and bitchy, and my ability to be my 'sexy, fun-loving self' goes out the window. And that's the kiss of death on MFC, because it's not like they're gonna be MORE likely to tip if you look sour and can't hold a conversation. LOL!

Do you know how many "B Complex"s I'd have to cut up and snort to pull that off?
Re: Cam persona questions.
Is it possible that the advocates of "100% personality" are mostly MFC girls? In my opinion there is no other site on the www where guys sit in your room for hours on end, listening to you talk about your day, what you ate, what music you like, the shoes you bought at the mall, etc... I could be wrong, but the old school style kinda is like, they come in, see if they like you, take you private, cum, and leave... sure they may come back, or talk to you more in private or off-site, but what other site do you get 30 guys who come to see you every day, to even get to know your "personality"? If there is one site out there with that dynamic other than MFC, where is it?
On a site like AW, even if you sit in free chat, does your personality really sell? What about SM, where I hear you get back to back privates all day (theoretically) are you really chatting a ton to them, do they come back and play games with you and ask you "how was that concert you said you were going to last weekend"? Even on cams.com or naked.com or wherever else the hell people work... do these guys get to know and love *you* so well that they wind up befriending each other because they have *you* in common? Is personality that important outside of MFC?

Good post. I love my 'come in, see if you like me, take me private, cum (or do whatever), and leave' site. I especially love that with the amazing traffic, I can JUST be piquing some guy's interest with my sizzling conversation skills, and then POOF, some other guy takes me pvt from right under his nose, increasing the 'perceived value' of my 'product' even more. ;-)
I also love my 'you dont even see me until you take me pvt' site, because all the stories that OTHER girls have to come up with to tell their roomfulls on MFC, well, I can just have ONE great story about what I did last week, great movies I saw, amazing things I saw on the news, etc.... and recycle it on every guy that comes into pvt. Easy peasy. Muah ha haaa.
Re: Cam persona questions.
Wow, wish there were enough hugs to go around sometimes. On behalf of all men, we actually DO appreciate what you girls do for us;D

You sound just like me!:)
Re: Cam persona questions.
I'm 100% me in my chatroom. Probably to a fault. I'm not an actress at all and can't play the "fantasy girl"...however since I'm so real on cam, I do tend to satisfy the "girl next door" fans. Thats what I love about MFC though, it allows girls to be able to choose how much of their personality they showcase...other sites you have to act like you want their cock all the time and be the fantasy sex crazed nympho (which I just sooo am not haha) If you can do it, then all the power to ya. You're hotter than me! lol. Playing the fantasy girl just makes my head hurt...and now this is just my personal belief, so don't jump down my throat, but I think that being able to show your personality helps you in the long run. Because any horny guy can go get T&A on the web...there are zillions of "horny" girls waiting to take their money...but if someone likes your personality, they'll keep coming back, and eventually, you'll get a fanbase that lasts years. And a fanbase who will still take care of you $$ wise, even when you're not able to "perform". I've been healing from surgery the last three weeks and have not been able to get naked, let alone put on sexy shows, and my boys still take care of me and show me their tip love. A horny guy who just wants to jizz wouldn't do that.:twocents:
But again I guess it depends on what site you're on. MFC you can do whatever you want...I'm guessing sites that do pay per minute camming, you kinda have to put on whatever show the custie wants. *shrugs*
Re: Cam persona questions.
^^^ THIS all day long. This is why out of all the sites I researched before I started camming MFC sounded like the best fit. I can just be me, because lord knows Im no actress.
Re: Cam persona questions.
So I had to google "b complex" LOL!

I hear you on this, but one thing I will say is that I truly feel it is an art all of its own to be able to play your fantasy role so well that guys believe it really IS part of your personality, and they still keep coming back over and over again when you are online.
I hate to admit it but at this point I am pretty much being forced into free chat. Furthermore, I'm about one option away from being forced onto MFC spefically, and I've totally adopted the "adapt or die" approach to life in general, but camming more precisely.
As a dancer it made me more money to be the fantasy girl. On Niteflirt... fantasy. Indie... fantasy. But I'm seeing more and more now that I'm going to be expected to sit and talk and play games and entertain for hours on end rather than being paid immediately for giving out any attention, and with the MFC style tipping system I don't really see how that level of interaction could be sustainable long enough to generate any meaningful income unless I'm actually enjoying my time on cam.
Truthfully up until... oh... three days ago I just couldn't relate to the whole idea of *enjoying* camming. Like, the entire sex industry has been one big business for me in that the only thing that has ever mattered was the point of sale. Did I ever really have *fun* lap dancing? No. But I loved collecting money each 3 minutes for doing it. I never really *enjoy* NF calls, but I feel it's worth 70% of whatever I feel like charging that day to pick up the phone and rattle off a few random words to a man I don't know.
Simply put, free chat has been the very bane of my existence as a sex worker. For a decade it's been totally unheard of for me to give my attention and sexual energy for free to anybody, in any increment of time. BUT... I do see how MFC is "free" enough to allow a girl to actually find what she does like, what she *is* comfortable with, and do only that... so with that said...
I've disagreed with your approach in the past because it's been ingrained into my very being for 10 years that this is "work, not play", but at this point I totally understand where you are coming from. :)
I still jump for joy when guys want roleplay, fetish, some elaborate fantasy, or just to wank it and send me on my merry way (because it's WAY less energy and WAY less time). But times change. I'm willing to change as well, but only as much as I absolutely have to.
Sorry for the novel!!!
