Shy newbie from Houston, TX
Hi all!
I've been watching from the shadows for a few months and thought it was time to finally come out and say hello! I am from Houston, TX and have always wanted to dance but never had the guts until now! I've been to several clubs and am finally ready to give it a try (I just turned 27 but I look very young for my age). I want to begin dancing in the next month or 2.
I'm really nervous but I know it's something I will regret if I never try. I haven't told any of my friends. You all have been so amazing--thanks for all of the advice!

Re: Shy newbie from Houston, TX
Well, there's no need to tell your personal life to friends or family if you don't want to. I've kept my personal life to my self for over 6 yrs and I know lots of women who do the same. I live in HOuston as well and thought about stepping back in for a few months. I've been completely gone from Houston light for over 3yrs. I worked at Silver City at the beginning of last yr and that was it. I wouldn't advise working in Houston because from what I've heard, it's still not that good and of course all the laws they past back in 08 is still in affect. Message me so we can talk.:)

Re: Shy newbie from Houston, TX
LOL yeah from what I've read here and what I've heard from dancers I've talked to at clubs, Houston has quiiiiiiiite a rep. :-\ I'm a clean girl, don't want to do extras. Heard you can still make decent money in Houston if you're clean, just have to hustle harder. Any tips/advice welcome!!!
I've visited Men's Club, The Colorado, Babe's Cabaret, Legend's, Rick's Cabaret, Treasure's, and St. James.
Thanks for the warm welcome y'all! ;D

Re: Shy newbie from Houston, TX
if you can help it I would stay away from treasures. the club itself is nice but it has a rep & most of the customers will expect you to do extras & dont want much else.

That's true, it's nothing likr it used to be yrs ago. The only way u will survive is if u have regulars or you catch guys that's never been thete before. All of my customers stopped going when I left and too many girls started approaching them with favors!

Re: Shy newbie from Houston, TX
Welcome, hon. I've heard about Houston's rep, too. Have you thought about moving to Austin or maybe Dallas for a few months while you get started? Might serve a double purpose in helping you keep your 'double life' secret from family and friends, too.

Hi PiXieDancer,
Based on my experience with the Galleria area clubs (Mens Club, The Penthouse and Treasures). I believe that The Mens Club and The Penthouse have "clean" dancers. Several dancers in those clubs have told me up front that they are "clean" dancers. (Which I don't mind, because I don't seek "extras" beyond high contact.) Having said this, The Penthouse did close for some time due to allegations of prostitution. It may be on some sort of probation now, so maybe its a good place to stay clean.
The first time I heard the expression "clean dancer", I expected something like an air dance. However, it turned out that "clean" means lots of high-contact and an overall intensely erotic experience, without a happy ending.
I think the Men's Club is being closely watched because it goes through periods of becoming extremely "clean" - like air dances.
As a non-extras customer, I like Treasures because it has MANY dancers to choose from at all times, from very beautiful to average. At lunch time, there may be 2 dancers at the Men's Club, 2 dancers at The Penthouse and Treasures has 40. From a dancer's POV though, there is a lot of competition - which may explain some of the other issues.
There are few SW dancers here in Houston -- Its time I go out and make some new friends. ;)

Welcome to the industry, hon. It has it's ups and downs but, at the end of the day, you always are going to have some interesting stories to tell ;)

I completely understand where youre coming from. I'm 21 and I've been considering this for quite some time now. But I come from a strict pentecostal home and I don't know how my family would react, they flipped at the idea of my working at a local hooters. Why don't you want to tell your family? jw?

Re: Shy newbie from Houston, TX
Hi! Sorry, my weekend got crazy. Ok, dancing for the first time on Friday:
1. REALLY busy! Got out on the floor about 930 and checked in with the DJ, after doing paperwork and getting ready. Lots of custies, lots of dancers. Didn't want to step on any toes so mostly watched the first hour...didn't really care if I looked like a total newb...
2. Stage Dancing--holy crap! I jumped right in and told the DJ I wanted to go up and just get it done my first night. He was really nice about it. I felt like such an idiot. I know some dance moves and can move pretty well but just got so nervous up there the first time. The other dancers were probably like 'what is WRONG with that girl?! hahaha'
3. Met some of the other dancers. They seemed nice but I followed the advice on SW and was respectful but didn't trust anyone.
4. Lap Dances. Um....the first one I gave was kinda awkward bc the guy was trying to be handsier than I was ok with. I told him what I expected once, and then when he did it again, I just ended things (he was going to get 3 but he was skeezing me out). Maybe that's normal at GC but since it was my first time giving a LD to a stranger I wasn't comfortable with it. The second guy who bought dances was much more respectful and really appreciative.
5. Dealt with one REALLY drunk female "custie"...I put that in quotes because she thought she could do whatever the guys did and more (kept trying to touch my ass and crotch while I was getting tips on stage) w/out tipping...DJ and manager helped me out w her. That was nice (I tipped them!)
6. Earnings: $150. Admittedly I was REALLY shy and could've made more if I was more confident. Overall, good experience and I'm looking forward to working again!:)

Re: Shy newbie from Houston, TX
OH and in response to Leatherneck69: my family is also very conservative and any expression of sexuality is considered inappropriate. I've known probably since I was 14 that dancing/stripping intrigued me but kept it to myself, thinking it was wrong or something....until about 4 years ago when I finally started to embrace that side of me. I also have a lot of friends that would probably judge me. So I'm just not going to say anything. I do have my TABC and bartending license so if ppl do press me about where I go/what I do, I just say I bartend at private parties or something. Basically, I've made peace with the fact that I'm ok with it and the man I love is fine with it. Everyone else can bite me! LOL!
