Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
*Warning* This might be an incredibly stupid question. Continue reading at your own risk. lol.
So I have several webcams, one that is already built into my computer, as well as several external logitech webcams. I know a lot of girls here use splitcamming software like splitcams or manycams, but sometimes it can cause slower bandwidth, etc. so I was wondering... Would it be possible to "splitcam" by actually using several cams at once? Like for instance, use the internal hd cam on one site, then use one of my logitech pro 9000s on another, and use one of my logitech hd c910 on yet another, etc. I have several usb ports on my computer so it wouldnt be an issue plugging them all in at once, and then when i connect my cam on the site i would just scroll down the list and choose a webcam for that site to connect to. Has anyone done this?
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
That's so funny, I was thinking about that the other day!! Not that I'm *ever* on two sites, but I was thinking of having a prem acct on mfc and setting up one cam for that. BUT... ya I don't know if that'd work.
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
you can actually, but i think it will still eat your bandwith either way.
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
^^ Oh ok, thanks Crispy. I'm really curious lol I might try it and see what happens! If I do I will be sure to report back here 8)

I was just about to say this lol.

Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
Yeah it has nothing to do with bandwidth. Actually it might take less processor with using splitcam though than two separate cams.
I just upgraded my internet speed for just that purpose. Costs me 50 bucks more a month but I figure by running more sites at once I'll make that back in no time.

well please let us know how it goes! im thinking about doing this
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
i upgraded my package too but its only 10 more a month and it doesnt seem to be changing anything.
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
LOL, I totally did this for a few weeks. It caused my computer to slow down HORRIBLY. The guys were complaining of the usual things that we think of as bandwidth problems but I knew it couldn't be that b/c I have a NICE Fios connection.
So unless you have a really fast computer with a lot of processor running 2 cams at once is going to do the same stuff that splitcamming does as far as slow all your shit down.
..so you know what I did? I borrowed a laptop from my boyfriend and ran the second cam off of that. Works great! My bedroom looks like I'm supposed to be controlling the space shuttle or directing air traffic or something what with two computers, two cams, etc, but it works AWESOME>
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
Yes I forgot to add, my main computer has an i7 processor and is a monster. You really need a powerful computer to run a lot of sites at once. Even with that huge whale of a puter I still run a spare one to add a couple more sites. (Planning to get another i7 in the near future too).
I used to use a KVM switch so I only had one keyboard controlling both computers but I find that it's actually easier to have two and switch between them. You need a huge desk for 2 mice, 2 keyboards though ;)
The bandwidth is helping, but it wasn't a small increase. I doubled mine so it's a big difference. Just my first day doing this I made $40 extra on top of what I usually make, so I've made all but $10 back of my investment. I have to be well-rested and alert though, to keep up with it all, but it makes the time go by so much more quickly because I'm much busier. I think I'm going to like workjng this way, plus it should allow me to leave some of the sites I dislike - yay!

I am always looking for "alternatives". I usually work 4 different cam sites at once, and have been doing so for the past few years. There is no way in hell I could ever work just one site - way too boring. Plus I do not like to work more then 2 hours per day in them chat rooms. Yeah I am a lazy, and a greedy bitch - I know. ;)
Also, I have multiple cameras, computer connections, etc. Have upgrated to highest internet speed I can get in My area (I am paying something like $70 per month for internet alone, and I would pay more if it gave Me smooth broadcast stream).
I have tried using various combinations of cams, and cam sites at the same time. ☛ Using multiple cameras for different angles worked for Me using ONLY one cam site - where I can switch back and forth between My cams. However could not get different cam sites to work with different cameras at the same time... BUT that is not really what I care about - I am all about working multiple cam site using ONE cam.
Also My bandwith or whatever it is, some say it has nothing to do with bandwith - though all the guys in My room like to call it that - will get really slow when working multiple cam sites - resulting in shitty live streaming broadcast. So I tried using camtwist to split the camera stream and send it to multiple sites - this works well, but still not as good as I expect. I would like the broadcast stream to be better quality.
So I am going to assume that as already mentioned, by the lovely ladies above - a powerful computer is a must, more powerful then My MAC at the moment, as well as top internet speed - I wonder if I can get any faster then what I already have?
Also one needs to be good at multitasking to make the most out of this, which I am and which is easy since I do not really pay much attention to free chat wankers. At first I started out working 2 sites at once, then 3, then 4. So it can be done. :)
As far as what I use now, and have used in the past: MacBook, firewire for connecting outside camcorder, usb logitech webcam, pan/tilt/zoom cam connected with an usb video capture device, ManyCam and/or CamTwist software.
Is anyone else a MAC user on here? I never used a PC for camming, so I am probably not very helpful. Also I am always looking for ways to optimize My MAC experience. ;)
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
I do two cams, two computers etc. My bandwidth is still a problem on that set up, but obviously computer power is not. I sometimes set up with a mobile internet connection on one of them when the bandwidth seems to be a real issue. I was just wondering though, all you other girls using more than one site, do you close them all down when you get a private on one, or keep broadcasting throughout the private? I just have my second cam on a 'group' style site so it doesn't matter whether I'm in private or not on the 'main' site, but I'm interested to know what everyone else does :D
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
i doubled mine too and i dont think it helped. can sites slow down your feed too if its not running well?

When I get a PVT on one, I usually set the other sites to member chat only, and if this is not an option I will disconnect/stop broadcast on that particular site. From what I heard from the guys, the broadcast stream in PVT is usually great, so it's the free chat broadcast stream that's the problem. And since it's what they will see when they 1st enter your room, it sucks if it's slow... I've been trying to figure this out - there must be a solution. /:O
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
Bumping this thread to see if anyone has any new info as splitting isn't working out for me :(
I want to add another lappy and 2 more webcams so i can work more sites at once.
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
Sue- You have my deepest sympathies lol - I know how frustrating a shitty upload can be . Slight thread jack - did you sort out a dongle and a couple of contracts ( mifi ? ) , what's the score , how much are you spending ? As for cam splitting, I use verysoft , had to pay for it , there's no crack in the world out there for it , and you will spend longer trying to crack it than what you could have paid for it 10x over , but it's been great and effective for purpose.
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
I am using the 3 mifi dongle i got off ebay. Have only used it for 2 hours so far but i get the above mentioned speeds and it hasn't given up the ghost yet haha. Will update when I have more user info on it. Never heard of verysoft, thanks for the tip. Manycam and camsplitter just crash everything for me. I don't mind using seperate webcams tho if it doesn't work xx
Re: Possible Splitcamming Alternative??
I tried to google for verysoft but I can't seem to find it. I even googled verysoft split cam and still no result. :( Can you tell me where to find?
