Some new (and possibly older) Music ideas (lengthy)
Hey , I’m new here and am treating this post as my intro (I may go back and do a proper intro later). But the music thread here caught my attention so I thought I’d toss in my two cents.
Disclaimer: I thought I’d start with ideas from my personal collection and then expand more later. I’m something of a music junkie (hell, isn’t everyone?)
Feel free to try these out (or the rest of the album they appear on). I have no idea what works, only an inclination. Also, if some suggestions have already been mentioned, go ahead and disregard them. I’m lazy and didn’t feel like going through a huge back log of posts.
Sorry if this is lengthy. I wanted to start off strong
(Artist, Song Title, Album)
· UNKLE-Hold my hand-War Stories
· UNKLE-Restless-War Stories
· Free*land-Big Wednsday-Animatrix soundtrack (Be careful with this one. May get a bit repetitive)
· Lamb-Gorecki-The Best Kept Secrets (Problem with this song is that it doesn’t really pick up till 2:35 into the track)
· Alice in Chains-Them Bones-Dirt (Good heavy song with a decent rhythem and pace)
· Birthday Massacre-Lovers End-Violet (Good synth-rock track with excellent vocal work)
· Birtday Massacre-Blue-Violet (I hesitate to put this one in cause the sound bounces between rough and light, but over all a track worth checking out)
· Evanescense-Going Under-Fallen (heavy rock tone mixed with Amy Lee’s vocals. Need I say more?)
· Evanescense-Everybody’s Fool-Fallen (See above track)
· Kill Hannah-Kennedy- For Never and Ever( I think the focus of this song is more towards the lyrical content than anything)
· KMFDM-Anarchy-Symbols
· KMFDM-Looking for Strange-Tohuvabohu (aside from the guitar and industrial sound, Lucia Cifarelli’s vocal work is the driving focus here)
· KMFDM-I Am What I Am-Tohuvabohu
· KMFDM- Juke Joint Jezabel/metropolis mix-Mortal Kombat soundtrack
Korn (Anything)
· Marylin Manson-Coma White-Mechanical Animals (the chorus is really the selling point here)
· Marylin Manson-Dope Show-Mechanical Animals
· Marylin Manson-This is the New Shit-The Golden Age of Grotesque(careful with this one, the heavy screaming may turn off customers)
· Nine Inch Nails-Closer-The Downward Spiral (come on, this one speaks for itself)
· Nine Inch Nails-Where Is Everybody?-The Fragile (disc 2)
· Nine Inch Nails-With Teeth-With Teeth (Similar to Closer. Only downside is that it has a low piano/guitar solo halfway through that could really kill any dance momentum)
· Rammstein (Basically anything)
· Red Hot Chili Peppers-Suck my Kiss-Blood Sugar Sex Magic
· Red Hot Chili Peppers-Give It Away-Blood Sugar Sex Magic (Any Peppers fan worth their salt can understand this one)
· Red Hot Chili Peppers-Around the World-Californication
· Red Hot Chili Peppers-Falling into Grace-One Hot Minute (I’m sure you ladies can find some way to make this one work)
· Red Hot Chili Peppers-She’s Only 18-Stadium Arcadium (Low, dirty and psycadelic)
· Unternull (anything from ‘The Failure EPiphany. I’d experiment and see what works)
· The Prodigy-Smack my Bitch up-Fat of the Land
· The Prodigy-Thunder-Invaders Must Die
· Agent Provocateur-Red Tape-The Jackal soundtrack (also heard in trailers for the film ‘Underworld’)
· Pale 3-In My Head-Matrix Revolutions soundtrack
· Monochrome-Helmet-SAW 3 soundtrack
· Quiet Riot-Metal Health-Crank soundtrack
· Loverboy-Turn me Loose-Crank Soundtrack
· The Cure-Burn-The Crow Soundtrack
· Nine Inch Nails-Dead Souls-The Crow soundtrack
· Danny Elfman-The Little Things-'Wanted' soundtrack
· The Heavy-Short Change Hero-The house that dirt built (kinda Gnarls Barkley esc type sound)
Re: Some new (and possibly older) Music ideas (lengthy)
too hard.
Think soft, sexy, sweet, cuddle time, not the thunderdome.
This is sexual titillation, not gladiatorial combat.
Re: Some new (and possibly older) Music ideas (lengthy)
In my defense, I was kinda falling asleep a bit when I was writing this last night. I'll admit, what works in my head might not work in reality (wow, just made myself sound crazy there). Anyway, there's gotta be something on this list that works in the hundreds of thousands of SC on this planet.
Probably worth noting that I've only been to a SC twice.:-\
Re: Some new (and possibly older) Music ideas (lengthy)
I've definitely seen girls dance to hard music like this and it works for them. It's not *my* style and I know a lot of customers prefer softer stuff, but with the right girl it can totally work.
Re: Some new (and possibly older) Music ideas (lengthy)
It's been my observation that male customers usually prefer aggressive music, female entertainers prefer softer. Obviously, this isn't the case with every customer or every girl. Just a trend. If you go too far in either direction, you tend to lose the crowd (unless the club specifically caters to that particular environment). My theory for a set is to grab the customer's attention with the first song being a bit more aggressive, then do something slower and sexier for the second. Kind of a "Set 'em up and Knock em down" approach.
Re: Some new (and possibly older) Music ideas (lengthy)
What dancers dance to depends on musical style. Personally I've danced to quite a bit of that music and prefer it over softer music. However, in general I danced to a lot of middle of the road alternative (I stick to alternative generally) which seems to do the best. Some of those artists would fit into the specific form of alternative I mean, especially groups like the Cure and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
