Australian Girl in the USA
Hey Kittens,
Im not sure if this has been discussed before or if im posting in the right area buttt I did a search and didn't come up with much.
Visa's and other immigration issues aside I was wondering if anyone knows what It's like making the transition from Australia to the USA- Particuarly the LA area.
At the moment I work in a fairly high class club in Australia, full nude and touching anywhere but boobs/kitty. With 3-4 Shifts a week I can expect to pull between 800- 2500 a week. However Im fairly alternative with Red hair and Tattoos and cost of living is apparently a bit higher her in Aus.
I was wondering if that compares to the USA?, and If any australian or foreign girls who've made the move can give me any advice?
and have you found that your accent makes any difference to your income?
Finally, Can anyone suggest some clubs in LA where I can get my feet wet ;D Preferably more rocker style clubs if those exist, or somewhere that is open to hiring alternative girls
Sorry for my ramblings! its a mixture of Excitedness/nervousness for the moveee!:D
xx
Re: Australian Girl in the USA
From what I understand, it is veeeerrrry difficult for foreign girls to be able to dance in the US. There's no way of legally doing it unless you're a feature dancer with bookings, so you have to rely on shady clubs that just don't care. If you need a license in the city then you'll be screwed as you won't be able to get one as a foreigner though.
Re: Australian Girl in the USA
Trueee hmm, does it make any difference if i've already got my visa sorteddd? Fiance is a US citizen and we're getting married when I move over there also?
Re: Australian Girl in the USA
If you're getting married then you can probably apply for a green card, or something else that will give you rights to work in the country, and then, yes you will be fine. But be forwarned that LA has a nasty nasty nasty reputation, never even been there, I just remembering hearing girls say that a lot.
Re: Australian Girl in the USA
yeah i am foreigner and have a green card. But mostly clubs dont care do u have green card or sometin else. They ask me if do i have valid id. Mostly foreigner girls are illegal .When i got the job i did not sign for any kinda documents so nobody can figure out i really work at strip club. If u come here with fiance visa u wont be eligible to work in USA and live legally. u can only stay 90 days and u have to marry with your fiance before that period of time ends. Still i think u can work illegally make sure and try to hope there is no POLICE checks id at the club. If they do u will be in trouble for working at the club without permission.
By the way i can work legally i have green card nobody ever ask me for my green card while i work at the club. But another case if other girls are bitchy and they figure out if u are workin there illegally they might let the know police/immegration office. Dont tell anyone u dont have green card be careful upscale clubs might not hire without green card or work visa by the way.
Re: Australian Girl in the USA
To the OP: I don't believe you can work in the USA on a Fiancée visa - it's only really an over-glorified 'permit' to live in the USA for 6 months while you plan your wedding.
Once you two are officially married and your hubby sponsors you and you get your SSN (a work eligible one) you'll be able to work in clubs in the USA.
We have some Aussie girls working here in Canada, and they usually do really well because of their accent - men think it's cute. But they find the clubs aren't as nice, the dances are MUCH dirtier, the money isn't as much and most noticeably - the management is terrible.
All that said, I wish you all the best!
Re: Australian Girl in the USA
so being from New Zealand and living here 9 years now, when I first went to check out a club it was in New York, I auditioned and was hired. You just have to just go in and talk to a manager. I know girls from Aussie who have worked fine here even in Vegas. I haven't figured out HOW they were able to work in vegas with the sheriffs card that you need to work there etc.
Do your research on clubs this site is pretty awesome and people give great advice. Pick your fav clubs then walk in and check them out.
Just some advice, keep your immigration status as discreet as you can. And get on to your green card as soon as you can, makes living here WAY more easier. Lots of luck!

Really? Seriously????? /:O
Re: Australian Girl in the USA
Really seriously. It was probably different before 9/11, but a LOT of immigration laws have changes since.
I'll go find a link to a fiancée visa.
Edit: Here we go. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigra...es_2994.html#1
Has info about the K-1 Visa. It's not 6 months as I thought it was, it's 90 days. You can apply for an employment authorization once you get to the states, but those generally take longer than the 90 days you have to marry (and at that time you'd have to re-apply because your status has changed). It's one of the reasons why they ask for proof of Financial Support when you file for your K-1 Visa.
Wanted to add as a side note: to all the dancers on here who treat immigration in a very non-chalant way - I encourage you to take it more seriously and do your research. You really could get burned and wind up in a bad situation. Take it from someone who learned the hard way. You may hear from people who had no trouble moving to the US 10 years ago, but laws change all the time, and it's more difficult at the present.

Re: Australian Girl in the USA
NOT THAT I'M ADVISING THIS BUT - LA has so many illegal Mexicans that as long as you have a Social Security card (fake or not) you can basically work anywhere.
Outside of that... I don't know anything about non-citizens working.
There aren't really many 'rocker' type clubs out here... but in my experience all the clubs are friendly to that look. At least, that is to say that *I've* never had a problem getting hired with the look.
While you can likely make what you're used to if you've got a good hustle... the clubs here are diiiiiiiiiiirty. Disgusting for the most part, really. I hardly ever work because I got so burnt out/grossed out by the things people tried to do to me and all the cocks that got pulled out on me. This seems to be fairly standard out here, though... as the other girls who've never danced anywhere else never seem to get why I'm complaining about all this shit.
