The most Overrated/overplayed stripclub songs of all time
You, know the songs people devoid of any intelligence or imagination insist you must play because they are 'perfect for the stripclubs', or because every retard disguised as a stripclub DJ will play it 5-6 times a night.
Girls, Girls, Girls Motley Crue. I won't play this anymore, it's been many, many years. I've never been a Crue fan anyway. I was totally amazed when Tommy Lee actually showed some talent, after he split off and started working with Methods of Mayhem.
Closer NIN. Probably the most overplayed song of all time (in the clubs). I used to play a couple of the better remixes/mashups, but I don't even like doing that anymore. I have been told the lyrics are misleading as to the true meaning. It would be interesting to talk to Reznor about that.
Back That Ass Up Juvenile. They sure picked the right name for the band. One of the first songs I ever refused to play, because it sucks monkeyballs.
These three were really beaten to death during the 90s, and the early years of the new millennium, along with 'Erotic City'. Now it's 'Lollipop' and a few others. It's so funny to watch the shock on the faces of some of these idiots who insist you ought to be playing the greatest stripclub songs of all time, and you casually refuse, or say you don't have the songs (a total lie, I have a lot of suckdick songs I refuse to play in my database).

Re: The most Overrated/overplayed stripclub songs of all time
I refuse to play Girls, Girls, Girls but I'll play Closer without much fuss if someone asks for it. I also play the George Clinton version of Erotic City sometimes but I've only been DJing for seven years so maybe that's why I'm cool with it.
Haven't worked in a Back That Ass Up appropriate club in awhile.
But yeah, I refuse to play Girls, Girls, Girls. My first club (hole in the wall) used it for birthday dances. You could end up with three birthday dances in one night and hear Crue over and over again.
I don't play Lords of Acid either.

Yeah, Closer is actually about religion, not sex.

Cherry Pie - Warrant ?????
Yankee Rose - Van Halen
Smack my bitch up - Prodigy
Crazy Bitch - Buckcherry.
Candy Shop - 50 Cent.
girls - Beastie Boys
Unbelievable - EMF
J. Geils Band - Center fold (gotta be a pretty redneck bar now)

Re: The most Overrated/overplayed stripclub songs of all time
Anything by Nickelback or Rihanna. Seriously, I play a little game with myself to see if I can get through an entire shift without playing either of them. I can almost guarantee if you walk into almost any club in the country, within an hour you are going to hear something by one of those "artists". That is, unless you walk in on one of my shifts ;)

Re: The most Overrated/overplayed stripclub songs of all time
Lol. The Lodge, Dallas TX. Just like any club, always looking for new talent. The Lodge tends to be rather selective, though.

Oh yeah? What shifts? I just moved down here and hopped on with Rick's. Maybe I'll swing by and check you out soon since I've been meaning to see The Lodge anyway.

Re: The most Overrated/overplayed stripclub songs of all time
I just work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, dayshift. Not exactly the prime shifts. Still, I was working nightshift weekends at my last club and am doing better on the slow shifts at the Lodge than I ever did working the best shifts at my last club. Climbing the ladder, as it were. Not to brag, but I've got the talent... just need to do my time.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I get a kick out of saving up a ton of money and moving to a new city/state whilst living off said savings as long as possible. The quick money available in this business makes it possible and the journey that follows never gets old.

These are two of my most despised musicians. Rihanna makes me want to stab people, especially that song about sex in the air I love the smell of it I'm so nasty. Oh I also have to mention Tool... Why does everyone like Tool so freaking much? They SUCK. And Katy Perry's California Girls song is another that makes me cringe every 5 times a night I have to hear it.

"Go shorty, it's your birthday. We gon' party like, it's your birthday. We gon' sip Bacardi like, it's your birthday. And you know we don't give a fuck
cause it's your birthday!"
50 Cent, In Da Club (someone shoot me now) >:(

I have played that song EXACTLY ONCE in my entire career as a DJ, and that was because it was a girls birthday and she absolutely had to hear it enough that she tipped me $50 to play it. I. Loathe. That. Song.
Edit: Yet, for some reason, I have no problem playing 'Ice Ice Baby'... even though I hated it back in 1991. Maybe because it just catches everyone so off guard. It's like the movie "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", so awful that you can't help but love it on a certain level. Who knows, maybe 10 years down the road I'll feel the same way about "In The Club".

I'm in Love with a Stripper, Fuck on Cocaine, Stripper by Lords of Acid, Du Haste by Rammstein, Party in USA by Hannah Montana, Thong song by Sisqo

They should have shot him a few more times and finished the job, back when he was selling crack. Oh but wait, that's what made him a 'legitimate' rapper who really experienced the hard life of a crack dealer, so his music has validity.
'Yo shawty, it's yo birfday...'
Literacy is rapidly declining in the USA. Is it any wonder, when suburban punks all across the land worship a guy who literally sounds retarded?
I too played this song exactly once, for a woman I was in love with when she asked for it as a sort of joke.
I won't play any 50cent at all, none. I used to play 'Magic Stick' because I liked Lil' Kim, but I can't even play that anymore.

Oh fuck I forgot about that horrible 'Thong Song'. Who is Hannah Montana?
Ever notice how the dancers that ask for 'In Love with a Stripper' always seem to have boyfriends who kick the shit out them regularly? That's love for ya!

Re: The most Overrated/overplayed stripclub songs of all time
I will always hate Girls, Girls, Girls... that and Danger Zone from Top Gun. Our first dj used to play it for every 2 for 1 lapdance. So terrible!
I often end up on stage behind the girl that dances to I'm In Love With A Stripper, and yes... her boyfriend is a douchebag.

Danger zone is not hitting my memory trigger. If I heard I'd probably say 'Oh THAT one, yeah it sucks alright!'
I don't understand these DJs that use the same fucking song every special dance or nightly gimmick. We have a 'Roll Call' at midnight and I try to mix it up as much as possible, unless the owner tells me to use the same song in which case my hands are tied.
Pink, by Aerosmith.
I won't play this one either. It's a tacky fucking sexual innuendo joke disguised as a song, 30 innuendos a song, the song played a kazillion times in clubs all over the USA for the last 25 years--and it's not all that good a song either.
I do love Aerosmith, except that one and those three songs from the same CD that sound alike and are slow and whiny as fuck (Amazing, Crying, and the other one that sounds just like it (Crazy?)--horrible songs!).
-
Re: The most Overrated/overplayed stripclub songs of all time
I feel slightly unusual cause i've actually never heard these songs played in clubs or have only heard them 1 or 2 times.
I usually hear tons of auto-tuned shit like T-pain or Akon at clubs.

Re: The most Overrated/overplayed stripclub songs of all time
One that I'm getting real sick of hearing that's only been out a few weeks now, "All of the Lights" by Kanye. That song just disgusts me on so many levels. Why any girl would request it is beyond me. It's a misogynist douchebag singing about how he was arrested for beating the shit out of his girlfriend. Way to represent your values, girls</sarcasm>!

OMG, I totally forgot about this song, thanks! I'm so going to have the DJ play this song for me on a slow night and totally do the running man. }:D

When you bank, feel free to paypal your tip to me ;)
Another fun one to do to a girl is play "Under Pressure", the song that Ice Ice Baby was sampled from. You still get that initial reaction of, "OMG, I can't believe they're fucking playing Vanilla Ice", but then you hit them with a double whammy when they realize it is something else and they feel stupid.

I almost forgot about this song. Queen rocks! I can totally see me doing the Michael Jackson headbob with the one arm pointing out to "Another One Bites the Dust." Talk about oldie but goodies. I can't wait to get back to work and rock out to this sh##.
I see this totally working because it's out of the norm for our club which tends to overplay hip-hop music soo much that every song sounds the same.
We'll see how well I do before promising any finder fees...
-
Re: The most Overrated/overplayed stripclub songs of all time
If you're in a hip hop club and want to do something different that's going to get attention, but might mesh a little better than Queen, try "Shake Ya Ass" by Mystikal. And, of course, anything by 2 Live Crew is going to go over great.
But, I digress. This thread is supposed to be about songs that are overplayed.
Edit: Also, somebody mentioned above that Hannah Montana was overplayed? Who the hell plays underage Disney artists in a strip club? Isn't there some sort of unwritten rule about not playing that shit?

I've always found it pretty funny that the reason all those generic R&B/hip hop songs about "bitches" and misogynist attitudes towards women is popular is because young women love that sort of music. *shrugs shoulders*
I think Chris Rock actually had a segment about this.
-
Re: The most Overrated/overplayed stripclub songs of all time
Much as I hate to admit it, there is something to be said for playing some of these cliche' songs. They're familiar, so you know exactly where to 'hit' on stage. Also, the customers aren't hearing them every damned day, so they get into it a bit more and don't really notice that they happen to be a cliche'. Still, many of the songs on this list just grate my nerves to such a level that I feel like committing acts of violence on the music computer.

Any idea where we could find that Chris Rock routine? I'd love to hear it.
There are definitely a lot of women who either like sexist music that belittles them in myriad ways, or are totally oblivious to it.
So Hannah Montana is a fucking Disney singer??? No wonder I never heard of her.
