Health Tips for Chat Hosts--Please Share More
Below it was taken from another board, With the recent thread I read if you work on your own bed while camming, the same one you sleep on this came to mind. to post and hopefully some have things to share as well.
My tips for anyone new to this or anyone finding it strenuous over time:
1: When not in a show (i.e. chatting in free room or just text or waiting for customers to enter, whatever) try to remain in sitting upright or standing positions as much as possible. When in free chat, if they want to see legs, butt, whatever, I may usually show them, but then go right back to my ergonomically correct positioning after.
2: Use audio! Give your body a break from typing all day. Of course, not all guys will have speakers to hear you, but most will. Customers will be generally happier and your spine/wrists will thank you.
3: Do not use the floor. A chair, a bed, even a thin mattress is better than using sheets on a floor. I was silly enough to start out using a comforter on a floor to do shows and the results after a couple of weeks were very painful. (Bad for knees and elbows.)
4: Alternate, alternate, alternate. For me, this is one of the most important things to remember. During a show some customers want you to do one activity for a long while. I make it a point to alternate which arm/hand I use every minute or so. This applies to toy use as well as keyboard usage. You don't want to overstretch one side of your body; this throws off your alignment over time. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and every two days I change the side of my bed I sit it on. This one simple technique stopped my ears from plugging up all the time. (This is actually a good tip for all computer users, on cam or not.)
5: Take stretching/walking breaks. I do quick stretching and self massage right after each show. I also stop to walk for 5 minutes or so around my home after every couple hours. If you don't work from home, just walk in place.
6: Toy users: this may sound odd, but relax your vaginal muscles. I had the bad habit of squeezing my walls tightly on my toys like i was really having sex, LOL. I started getting so sore that I'd have to take days off because I was swollen too tight to insert a toy. If you tighten your muscles during sex, it's hard to get used to not doing it in shows, but just try to remember to control it and relax; after all, the customer won't know the difference, LOL (Applies to anal too, of course.)
7: Don't be afraid to charge more. You may wonder what this has to do with health. Well, I just feel like if you're gonna work your body, you should be getting the most buck for your bang, so to speak. If you're any good at what you do and are available regularly, you'll acquire repeat customers. It's better to get regulars who pay well, than to get cheap ones. I charge 2.80-3.80 and give no discounts on a site where most girls charge 1.98 plus discounts, and I almost always have back to back traffic. The faster you reach your earnings goal, the less you'll have to be online, the less the strain on your body.
Plus, I find that guys who are able to spend that kind of money stay in your room longer. They are also not as affected by economical ups and downs because they are usually professionals with high paying careers. The money is there, but if you don't ask for it (setting your price higher) you won't get it.
Other things to note: of course, have plenty of lube ready and don't be afraid to use it. A yogurt a day is great to keep yeast infections away. Drink lots of water. Warm up before a long day. I sometimes put in 10hr shifts, and like any physically demanding activity, it's good to get your blood going first so you don't damage your muscles. It's as simple as walking in place and breaking a light sweat.
Well, this is how I'm able to work on cam without making my TMJ symptoms flare up. I just wanted to put some advice out there for anyone who might be able to use it.
It's good to work hard, but it's much better to work smart and prevention is the best medicine. Whether you're independent, working on a site, studio, whatever, stack that cash the best way that works for you; just remember to be good to your body as well as your wallet http://www.adult-webcam-faq.com/foru...icon_smile.gif

These are amazing tips. Just a few others I'd add...
- Drink cranberry juice or take cranberry supplements to avoid UTIs.
- Coconut water has a ton of potassium, so it's great to drink when you need to rehydrate. I don't love the taste so I usually just drink a ton of water and snack on fresh coconut (my local shop always seems to have fresh coconut).
- Throw down an extra duvet if your knees/elbows are getting raw. In the beginning, I was getting all kinds of weird rug burns on my elbows and knees and realized it was just because our mattress is extra-firm. Once I put down another duvet, that problem went away.
- And I just want to repeat the break recommendation. Sometimes I won't even realize that I need a break. I'll just keep going and then realize that I'm beyond exhausted and that my last few privates probably weren't their best. So I try to make sure I take a break every two hours. I get up, walk around, drink some water, snack, clean my toys, stretch, browse SW, and then go back on cam. I always feel a thousand times better when I do.

All excellent tips. All I have to add:
make sure to keep baby wipes / antibac wipes and hand sanitiser gel right next to you. And use it :) hygiene is really really important to avoid yeast infections so clean everything regularly including the keyboard and mouse

Eye drops :) long hours stairing at the computer screen. A drop or two in each eye in the middle of a long day or night is an orgasm in itself!
Pee after every private show. Flush out any bad germs out of your urethra.
A comfy supportive pillow to rest on and take pressure off your wrists when doing doggie style shows.

Also, I just found this natural lube today, but not sure how well it works. It seems good to try if you're like me and don't like parabens and other toxins being shoved in your va-jay-jay.

I would say that to prevent UTIs take pee breaks. Every few hours just get up and go pee, even if you feel like you don't have to. You get sex UTIs from vaginal fluid or lube or whatnot getting up in your urethra, just pee it out.
Also, yogurt for yeast infections works great IF it has active cultures in it and it's not too sugary. Don't get the "fruit on the bottom" crap. The calories alone in those things you might as well just be eating jam.
And do EAT the yogurt, don't stuff it up yourself. I recommended yogurt to a friend of mine for yeast infections and she mistook that to mean putting it in her vagina.

I don't remember where I read this.....but someone posted Vitamin E for sore pussy and DAMN it works! I happened to just have some capsules that were not expired laying around and thought what the hell, and it really works!
Also, it's really congealed so it isn't messy and panties don't make it uncomfortable - I'm considering ALWAYS loading my pussy with it when I'm not on cam to restore good circulation.

Hahaha, putting yogurt in the vag IS a good idea. ;)
As long as it's plain and unsweetened.
I can't sit around and eat yogurt waiting for it to work if I have a yeastie. For prevention, eating is OK.. but when the yeastie is actually present, I'd much rather just put it where the problem is actually located rather than wait for my bacteria to adjust internally.

Oh. Maw gawd! I did that once and I was a farting, pooping mess. It was obscene. I was so gassy that on the toilet poop was literally blowing out of me. I was a nasty disgusting ho. Never again.
I have no doubt that it works great b/c I've heard that recommended and sworn by several women. Maybe I was allergic or something because that was horrible. Nobody was even around to hear/smell it or anything, I was simply embarrassed to be around myself!

No shit. I've only ever seen it in capsules. Does it come a different way other than that or do you stick the capsules in there or break them open or what?

the little capsules are soft, so I just use scissors to snip off the top and squeeze the gell-substance out - it's not thick, but it just "sticks" really well so it's very easy to apply - I used like 6 capsules yesterday! I've used them that way to heal burns in the past.
pussy burn is a bit different I guess - I'm still a little sore today but don't feel raw, so hopefully I can work through it, we'll see!
