organizing SCHOOL and stripping
I have two jobs (which includes stripping), and I am a full time student.
- Do any of you have advice on organizing your life, or how you organize school and work.
- Also, how do you guys manage your money?
>>>for example, do you put 8% of what you make every night into a savings?

Re: organizing SCHOOL and stripping
I always put a good, round number into my savings account, while keeping some for spending money. Like if I made $292 in a night, I'd put $250 into my account and keep the other $42 in my wallet. If I made $422, I'd put $350 in my account and keep the other $72. When you work 4 nights a week, it adds up quick. I'd go out shopping like once a week and have several hundred in my wallet to blow on whatever, while leaving the amount in my account untouched. I'm admittedly pretty terrible about seriously saving money, though. At the time I was dancing, I wasn't enrolled in school, but I had debt my ex had racked up in my name, so I paid ALL of that off. In retrospect, I'm not happy with myself for not saving more money...I made a shit ton of money and don't have much to show for it now except for nice clothes, nice makeup, nice skincare products, nice shoes, nice accessories, memories from several really nice vacations, a lot of stripper outfits, and no debt. I mean, it's definitely better than blowing it all on fast food and drugs, but it's not like other girls on here who bought a car and a house free and clear by the time they were 21, or who have multiple residences in towns they regularly visit to strip in, or who paid their entire way through an Ivy League school and grad program.
When I start dancing again I'm definitely going to be smarter about my money. Maybe it's just me, but when you're in school and serious about it, you tend to be more serious about saving money, too. Plus, it helps when you have responsibilities and obligations, like attending class at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday or having a paper due in two days, and therefore can't really take off on spur-the-moment vacations or go on wild spending sprees. When dancing, it was easy to take time off for a week or two. You can't really do that with school. And I spend major money on vacations, too. When I went to London last winter, I spent two grand in a week, and that wasn't counting the hotel or flight.

if you are smart you will put away as much as possible for savings....if you are stupid you will blow it all on shopping and partying which unfortunately is what alot of strippers do who are new to the industry....
Re: organizing SCHOOL and stripping
^ ughhh what about tuition, books and living? I certainly dont blow my money on shopping and partying but I dont have "savings"... all my earnings go to rent, bills, tuition, books, laptop, printer, other school supplies, etc. That stuff aint cheap!
1. I have uni 5 days a week 8 hours a day so I only work sat night and sun night. I could potentially work fri too but Id like to have a day with hubby. I do not work during exams because I would like to pass. I never sacrifice my school for work. School is more important. Id rather eat leftovers and pay my bills a week late than fail an entire course and pay another $4k for it and be held back a year.
2. Since I work weekends, I go to the bank at the start of the week and deposit most of the money. I leave about $200-$300 out for groceries, coffee other spending money. I then pay any bills I have online at the start of the week. I usually dont have much left over. If I have tuition or some other large bill $2K+ (ie. car insurance, overseas flight, etc) coming up I actually usually keep the money Im saving for that in a separate account but as soon as I have what I need Ill pay that off. So in reality I really cannot have much savings because the cost of living is so high. I have no debts from starting uni though which I did have the first time around so I refuse to have any this time.

I'm a student who dances part-time. It can be tricky to find the right balance, because dancing feels productive since you're making money, so it's easy to let school responsibilities fall to the wayside. You really need to be able to motivate yourself to keep on top of it all and not let dancing take precedence. BringOnTheMen's suggestion about day shifts is good because they tend to be less draining. I tend to work 1-3 times a week, less when I have more school (sometimes not at all) and more when time permits. I do one evening shift, one day shift, and a weekend day shift. If you can stick with a weekly schedule, it'll help make dancing feel like more of a job and help you cultivate regulars as well. Of course, the wonderful thing about dancing (especially for students) is the freedom it offers to work whenever you want and however often you want. Find a club with flexible scheduling! It's also important to leave some time for yourself and your social life - you don't want to be working or doing schoolwork 24/7.
As for managing your money: it helps to make a budget for the month to give yourself an idea of how much you need to save. Factor in rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, tuition, school supplies, entertainment, and other expenses. It's always good to factor in a portion for savings as well- you'll be thankful for it one day!
