I agree. So SF isn't happy with traveling dancers? Balls.

Re: I refuse to strip in LA anymore. Monthly weekend strip trips to Vegas, anyone?
Good for you. So many girls are willing to take shit money and I don't get it.
I'd try travelling and see if it works for you... you never know until you try. Some girls do well with it... others don't.

I might be up for a trip once a month provided that I could swing it with my vanilla job! This is probably a dumb question (and I'm sure it's been answered a lot already) but...do you need a license in SF? I know one is required in Vegas, but not sure about SF.

Come to Reno with me!!! Share a pet-friendly hotel with me because I can't leave my little poodle-doo with my step-mom! They're putting girls up 4 to a room somewhere this would be 50/night/girl. The Penthouse CLub is opening tomorrow and it's on thebestdancers.com or .net idk but yeah I danced in LA for 5 years and it is everything you said. I've been working in sacramento and it's much more respectful clientelle.

You should try Vegas just to see if it's right for you. I've been traveling to Vegas for a year now and I've always done very well. Would you be driving? If so then it shouldn't cost you more than $200/week for hotels. You'll need to get a business licenses and a sheriff's card before you work which will probably be about $260 total). There are a lot of clubs out here and a lot of money roaming around even in the "slow" summer months. Just keep your eyes peeled for conventions and events that bring in people for the weekend. If you're getting 80% of the customers you speak with to buy dances then you should have no trouble making at least $500+ a shift in Vegas. Even if customers are cheap, you'll still make a few hundred just walking around asking for $20 dances.

My exceptional sensuality was shunned, my stage dances ignored because I wasn't finger fucking myself or putting my face in people's crotches. A FUCKING dirty (insert certain race here) man tipped me a quarter onstage. At that point, I quit my club. I walked out. Last night, I auditioned for another club, but even though the night shift was in full swing, it was empty. The girls hadn't made any money. At many of the smaller clubs, you have to "earn" the right to work the weekend, meaning you have to waste your time and your body in worthless dayshifts or early week nightshifts. The clubs don't bring in customers, the girls can't keep customers. Many of the girls that I've worked with don't understand what it means to give quality and value to their work. This causes the value of the clubs to decrease.
I can't work here anymore. I can't walk with my head up knowing that I show unappreciative strangers my pussy for 20$ an hour. Some can, some are happy with 100$ a night, that's fine! I'm not. I will not do it anymore. I quit you, LA.
I've just applied to work in a tea shop. I wrote the cover letter from heaven, and I'm confident they'll hire me at one of their locations. I'm more willing to work for minimum wage ish doing something that I'm passionate about.
I'm willing to settle down with this part time job and some street performance, but I'd still like some luxury. What do you all think of taking one long weekend a month to work in Vegas? San Fran? Do any of you LA ladies do this? Ideally, I'd love to share travel expenses with someone, spend 4 days working a bit, enjoy some spa time and some great food once a month. Is it do-able? Anyone want to do it with me?
Sorry to hear about your bad experiences. I think So Cal has become a 3rd world country. That is where I grew up from a young age. When I went back a few years ago I was appalled. It is not the same So Cal I grew up in. If you want to give Vegas a try I will not discourage you. You might get lucky.
I have no idea why any club anywhere in the world would be open during the day. There is no reason for any strip club to be open before 8pm. It's like having an accounting firm be open from 12 midnite - 8am. Duh. It makes no sense. There are so many owners and managers who are living and thinking in the past. They can't seem to accept the fact that things have changed very dramatically since the 80's and 90's. Some of the managers and owners out here are really nice people with a good heart. Most are really mean and scary. You have to be very selective if you decide to come out here.
We have slutty girls out here too. I don't think it's as bad as LA or SF though. The cops have been all over the clubs out here for over a year now. I guess it's because we have had the highest unemployment in the country for a few years. Obviously that increases desparation which leads to crime. At first they were going overboard and arresting girls for doing regular lap dances- which is wrong. Lots of people complained; so now they arrest girls for telling guys they will have sex with them and for real prostitution. So if you do come out here, be very aware that you can not say anything you want to the custy in order to make the sale.
Like LA - I have noticed a lot of clubs out here getting big attitudes and not treating us as independent contractors at all. I payed hundreds of dollars to have my own business where I make the decisions. I am the one who is on the front lines and dealing with the reality. I know what works for my business. If you are being told how many and what days and hours to work; that is not what having your own business as a stripper is supposed to be.
A lot of girls out here are doing exactly what you have done. Getting a regular job. We have lots of $20 or $0 days out here as well in every club in town. Some of these girls are super beautiful and excellent sales people. (I realize that there are some people posing as strippers on this site who will say something like -- anyone in Vegas who does not make $500 + on a consistent basis has to be the worst most heinous rotten ugly lowlife on earth. Those sort of negative statements are completely false. Arrogant bullies who claim everything should always perfect and great are wrong. Don't let dishonest, arrogant bullies steal your confidence. Yes it is possible to do well, but it is not guarnteed.) We also have a lack of custys in comparison to the number of dancers in many of the clubs out here.
If the clubs are viewing strippers as employees but with out paying them, there is really no incentive to do this. The whole point of being an independent contract stripper is that you are supposed to be free to work when you want so you can focus on other things in your life - like long term goals etc... If you come to Vegas and find the same situation as LA- maybe you could get your money back from the nvsos. It is a scam and a rip off for us not to be treated as independent contractors when we have paid hundreds of dollars for a license.
I wish you the best of luck. I agree that Reno might be a better place. I don't think they charge as much for the business license out there and the custy dancer ratio might be a little better.

Re: I refuse to strip in LA anymore. Monthly weekend strip trips to Vegas, anyone?
Loren, you don't know why any club would be open during the day? That's such an ignorant statement. Guys come into the club during the day, some for lunch or on their break and they get dances & *gasp* rooms. That's why it's open. Thank god there is dayshift cause some girls cannot work night.

Yeah, but you have also stated on numerous occasions that you're not opposed to hand jobs for the right price, which seems to give one an edge out in LV- at least when I was there.

Go towards OC! I started in LA and haaaaated the contact levels! I make way more in OC and they're more respectable depending what club :)

Re: I refuse to strip in LA anymore. Monthly weekend strip trips to Vegas, anyone?
AriBri - Yes I'll admit there may be a few clubs through out there which do get enough business during the day, to justify dancers working during the day. I don't think that is usually the case in this day and age, but there are exceptions to every rule. Most people go to night clubs at night.
Based on Contessa's post, dancing during the day in LA sounds like a waste of time. It sounds like they just expect girls to sit around for free. Who can afford to work for free? I know I can't.

Not opposed =/= actually participating.

Re: I refuse to strip in LA anymore. Monthly weekend strip trips to Vegas, anyone?
^NReXm--I think most dancers are highly offended by people who do HJ's. There is no reason for resorting to that. It's important for dancers to have self confidence. We are not supposed to more than a lap dance for the custy. Strip clubs are not meant to be brothels.

Most dancers are highly offended by anything that does not meet their individual standards of how dancing "should" be. I've been accused of being dirty for allowing a customer to put his hand on my thigh so there is no standard of what dancers are "suppose" to be doing. I'm willing to bet that most dancers would bend their rules if the price was right; it has nothing to do with self confidence and more about personal limitation.
Get money and get out. The only girls that care what others are doing are those that don't mind their own business (and those that make no money).

Re: I refuse to strip in LA anymore. Monthly weekend strip trips to Vegas, anyone?
I'll stick up for NREXM here--I think she has a really good mentality for the business. Which is, of course, to not pay attention to what anyone else is doing, and to keep your mind on making sales. The second you let "girls are giving HJs" into your mentality, it shows in your sales. My earnings always shot up when I would ignore crap like that.
The kind of guys you want to get money from, and the kind of guys who actually have money, are generally not looking for handjobs, IME. I know this is regional, so don't flame me for being ignorant. But it's an important thing to keep in mind.
OP--I really hope you get a mainstream job while you decide what to do next. It's very refreshing for the soul to get a normal job when you're burned out from stripping. I remember I was like, "Oh wait, so I don't have to be super stressed out when I'm going to work? And I don't have to shave my vagina to get paid? And I don't have to feel like crap when I get home after work? And my knees aren't going to be covered in bruises the next morning?"

Re: I refuse to strip in LA anymore. Monthly weekend strip trips to Vegas, anyone?
Hey I'm moving back to LA, where should I go dance??? lololol j/k. But not really. Does the OP want to apartment swap with me?? It's just that I'm right in the area I grew up in and it feels akward to have such close contact to my family again. Theyre not bad people, I just liked having that 500 mile buffer while I was in L.A. and even though it was sometimes murder to get a dance with someone and then impossible to keep them in line- I still think I might feel better! And yes my club had the same problems as others maybe even more so....it bothered me so much I never sold any VIPs because the guys 10 times out of 10 would be expecting more than I can offer.
