Scoping out the SC before an audition
I have been putting off getting an audition f o r e v e r, for one reason or another. First it was because there were not many options of where to work. It is either the “upper” strip club which is industrial with two stages, outrages pay outs from what I hear and the only way to get hired is by going out to their amateur night. I’m a bit shy (take that back, I am shy) so I wanted to ease in at a smaller venue. Well, that leaves me with the mid tier club which is Déjà Vu owned. It has good reviews, but my bf’s best friends ex works there and that girl is crazy. Like CRAZY. Eh, what’s one kooky girl in a strip club right? I told myself that shoot, there’s no need to be close with her, I wasn’t when she was with the bf’s bestie so why now? Other than those two clubs we have three other smaller, seedier joints that do not have good reviews anywhere, from the customer or the dancer’s perspective. All of these clubs are full nude, no alcohol joints so I finally made myself call in to the Déjà Vu place, they told me come in M-S anytime from noon to four and we will throw you up on the stage for a two song set.
Great, I think! I have a few real outfits to choose from that I had ordered to psych myself into going in, some banging 6” shoes and I’ve managed to lose the last few pounds of winter weight in preparation. So, as I am planning to go in tomorrow on Saturday last night I wrangled my boyfriend into going to the Déjà Vu location as custies to get a feel for the place. See the layout, compare looks of the girls and see what style of interaction is the norm there. Neither one of us are flowing in the cash but we brought a large amount of ones and enough for a couple ld’s. Most of the time we were there we spent in at the stage, giving the girls tips and enjoying the show. I was nervous that we would be ignored because we were a couple but for the most part this did not happen. I, admittedly got most of the attention but I am not complaining!
Now, the girls seemed less put together than I would have imagined. Perhaps I am wrong but there were some in panty/bra sets from like Wally World that didn’t even match and the girls that did seem put together were… still... Well they were still not what I would have imagined. All in all they seemed more “girl next door” and well, my image is quite glamed up and I plan on going after that look. I just don’t want to seem out of the mix with the other girls when (if) I get hired. The dancing wasn't acrobatic, but slower and sensual which I vibe with. Custie interaction caught me off gaurd a bit, there was a lot of sitting in laps, hanging out topless at their table, just lots of hard sale things that I feel I won't be comfortable doing. Maybe it was just because it was Cinco De Mayo and since it is a juice bar the place was pretty slow.
For the most part they were all sweethearts and I got a dance with the first girl who asked me. Oh my goodness, she knew my last name! Apparently we went to junior high together about a billion years ago. Awkward. Especially since I had no clue who she was. Oh well, we still continued back to the both section and the lap dance was going well until she just sorta stopped dancing. She had grabbed me during a two-for-one special and I had fed my money into the little automated thing before the dance where the light goes green to signal the start of a dance and times it at two minutes per dance before it blinks red to signal the end of the dance. Well she tells me that someone must have messed up, that the dance was going on too long. I played dumb since I was caught off guard and knew that there was no way that could happen. I thanked her for the dance, tipped her and skipped out.
Now, what kind of tomfoolery was that?! I would have gotten more dances if she hadn’t tried to rip me off. I had told the girls it was my first time in a strip club, perhaps she thought she could pull the wool over my eyes? It was really off putting and I don’t know how I feel about working where they do things like that to customers.
Any insight or last minute tips to polish me up for tomorrow would be greatly appreciated. I am not sure how I feel about the experience but at least I’ll know the layout a bit when I go in tomorrow, although I do feel a bit more confused now after scouting out the strip club in preperation
Re: Scoping out the SC before an audition
Thank you, that's so true. For me I tend to hype myself into a silly ball of nerves. Now my biggest worry is if they recognize me from last night when I go in tomorrow. Oh well! I will try to but any thoughts other than how hot I am and how much I deserve to work there out of my mind :P
Fake it till you make it I guess!
Re: Scoping out the SC before an audition
Update: My audition went… WELL!
Today was the day that I finally worked up the courage and went in to audition. Since I had gone to the club as a customer two nights before so I knew the layout and how the stage was set up which helped calm my nerves a bit. I brought my little dancer bag packed with all the goodies: spray, outfits, ect and they had me get ready in the customer bathroom (odd, but whatever) and when I emerged I was up for a two song set. Top off for the first, all the way for the second.
I am sure I looked like a cat hyped up on catnip trying to get pet. I had NO clue what I was doing and any practice I had done before made no difference because I was much too nervous to remember anything. There were two poles on each side of the stage so I mostly pranced between the two of them with some mighty awkward floor work thrown in. No one laughed, so that was good! I just tried to smile and not freak out when my bikini style top got caught on its way off of me. I don’t think anyone noticed. I thought I was going to die, I was so sure I was making a fool of myself but when I got off the stage the dj told me it’s the best tryout he’s seen in a bit but I think he was just trying to be nice ::)
Soooo, all in all mission complete. I got offered a job, filled out my paperwork and can’t wait to come in to actually work. Apparently for the first two weeks I am on “show girl” status and can come in anytime I please before I need to sign up for at least one scheduled day a week so I plan in on going Monday. I will get the full tour then and my little swipey card for the ld area. Cannot wait, just need to practice my moves till then!
Does anyone have recommendations for simple floor moves? Something I can throw in to my horrendous stage work to show that I can at least do something would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Scoping out the SC before an audition
Congratulations on getting hired! During slow times, I recommend checking out the other girls' stage shows to pick up some easy moves and transitions. Otherwise, floorwork is basically just sexified stretching/yoga poses. Arch your back and point your toes no matter what you're doing, run your hands over whatever part of your body you're showcasing with a certain move, and make eye contact - try not to look bored on stage!
