I made a HUGE mistake and don't know how to fix it (long sorry)
I think I maye have fallen victim to a Craigslist scam and I'm so STUPID for doing this. I guess I had a momentary lapse of judgement.
Long story short I've been looking for a part-time gig on the side to supplement my income from stripping. I ran into this ad :
http://tucson.craigslist.org/fbh/2339762412.html
Well I got really excited at the prospect of a new club in Town. I emailed them, and this is what I said:
Hi, I know this ad is a couple weeks old, but are you still conducting interviews?
I'm a dancer and am looking to transition to cocktail waitressing. I have 10 years combined experience in the restaurant industry. I have been a server, hostess, and part time bartender (mostly beer) Not to mention being comfortable in the strip club environment and knowing how to sell to customers.
I have an extensive knowledge of liquors, beer, wine, and mixed drinks. My name is *****
I really do not feel comfortable sending a photo to an anonymous recipient, but I can promise you I am easy on the eyes :)
Thanks!
Then this is what I got back:
Thank you ***** for responding to the cocktail waitress position. We are actually getting close to starting the interview process so you made it just in time. Since you are a dancer, you should know what we are looking for. We would really like a few pics of you wearing something that we could expect to see you in on a nightly basis. This is to help our interviews go faster since we will already know what to expect from you. I will take you word as far as you being a dancer, we wanted to make sure you would be comfortable being topless but you already mentioned that you aren't comfortable sending pics. If you could that would be very appreciated and would make our job easier. Thanks again.
OK, I'm still not convinced. So I say:
Hi again,
The only reason I am uncomfortable is because it's being sent to an anonymous destination, and at this point, an anonymous person......I have yet to get a name of who I am speaking with or any other details to let me know this is legit, and my pictures aren't going to end up on the internet somehwere.
With all the scams that are going around today, you must understand why I feel the need to protect myself. It's nothing personal.
If I could at least get your name, and some details of where this club will be, and when it's scheduled to open, and the name of your company that would be great. I already searched for "executive clubs" on google and did not find anything.
Thanks again.
*****
Ok, back to them again:
The name of the club is Centerfold Lounge. We are located in Tucson and the reason why we aren't giving out the address yet is because the building is under construction and we currently do not have a security system installed. Since there is a lot of valuable electronics in there we don't want to take a chance of getting robbed. My name is Damon and my uncle Dom is the owner of this club. I completely understand why you don't want to send pics to someone that you haven't met yet. This is a problem that we ran into since we are restricted since we are not allowed to have the public step onto the property til we get our final inspection from the building dept. If you google Centerfold Lounge you wont find anything yet since we aren't officially opened yet. We are shooting to open the first week of June as of right now. We are actually behind schedule due to the lack of competency of some of the sub-contractors. We were suppose to have our final inspection this week, but as of right now it doesn't look possible. As far as the pics, if you want to send a face pic seperately than any body pics, that would be fine. These pics are only for us and are not to be shared with anyone else. Let me know if there is anything else that I can do to help you feel more comfortable. Sorry that this haDamon,
s been a little bit of an inconvenience
Then me:
Damon,
Thank you very much. Nice to meet you.
I understand about the issues with opening a business, I worked for some small business owners for several years and I remember all the trouble they had trying to just get the doors open. We had to keep pushing the opening date back all due to plumbing issues and yes....incompetence.
Let me know when you would like to set up an interview!
Thanks again,
***** (attached a pic)
So OF COURSE, I haven't heard anything back from them, and I'm not expecting to. I'm wondering where my picture is going to wind up. This is really scary.
I know, I know. STUPID. Like I said it was a momentary lapse of judement. I know how dumb this was and it was a bad decision.....what I need to know now is what I can DO about this.
I was thinking about posting a CR ad to warn other ladies to not send these guys their pictures, but I'm sure it will be flagged and taken down.
How do I report this? and what can I do if I ever find my picture somewhere? Also, they have a Yahoo email which is anonymous (that should have been a HUGE red flag, DUH. Again, I know.) Is there a way of finding out the IP address?
Any help is appreciated, thanks

Yikes. Dont feel bad about it though, every one makes mistakes..and craigs list has gotten pretty bad with the scams lately :( Tisk tisk..
You should go ahead and post a warning to other ladies who might be interested. I would hate for other women to fall victim to that.
As far as what you can do about the pics..i have NO idea. I would be angry if they posted it somewhere, and you not get credit for your photos :(
Re: I made a HUGE mistake and don't know how to fix it (long sorry)
It is a scam. It's probably just some stupid dudes looking for jerk off material, as gross as that sounds. I answered an ad like this a few months ago for a bartending position, and once they said they wanted pictures, I cut them off. I also asked for the addresses they provided me (one in Vancouver and one in Montreal), Google mapped them and saw there were OPEN, existing businesses there.
A lot of employers are asking for pictures with resumes on CL these days, but if you write in your response that you aren't comfortable with that, the legit ones will understand.
Re: I made a HUGE mistake and don't know how to fix it (long sorry)
I wouldn't call it a huge mistake... I wouldn't even call it dumb... I would just call it unlucky that you ran into an unscrupulous bastard. Many bars and nightclubs do require pictures with resumes because a better looking staff sells more drinks and attracts more customers... next time I guess make sure the club actually exists though... live and learn.

I'm not so much worried about getting credit as I am them doing something nasty with my picture. Like photoshopping my face onto something and putting on the internet or whatever.
I hope I don't wind up on the cover of one of those crappy porns in the sale bin. Ya know, the ones where the person on the cover isn't in any of the movies. I've heard stories of girls having their pictures scammed like this and used in that way. It crossed my mind too, and I still went ahead and did it anyway. FUCK I could really kick my own ass right now.:(

I heard something about this place. I think it is going in where the Candy Store location?
Re: I made a HUGE mistake and don't know how to fix it (long sorry)
Honestly that is not stupid at all, we all have made mistakes. I have send my photos to CL a few times when I was looking for hostess postions etc. Never heard a reply back. I didnt know it was a scam! I just thought they were too busy to reply or already hired the girls etc.
Anyway, dont stress, there is nothing you can do now. What I would suggest is... Make another account, e-mail the guy sounding interested ASAP if he replies to the fake account and not your regular one, then its a scam! Messing around with him would be entertaining too, seeing whether he is legit or not. Other than the pictures.... there is nothing you can do, females who post pictures just for family and friends can be pastured onto porn by some sick dude. If your pictures ever go out and see them, contacting the webmaster is what it takes to get them down.

Nope. The Candy Store was already re-opened and is under new ownership/management and is called Spellbound. I know the GM and the head of security there.
PS it's not doing good. They are having a hard time shaking the bad reputation.
