I made it!
WOW . . . . after almost 8 years of dancing in dive bars and hole-in-the-walls, I FINALLY, FINALLY got hired at a Nice Club, the kind with a stage and a DJ and Champaign Rooms (Which I have already managed to sell a couple!)
It was one of two goals I have had since I decided I would keep dancing until my son was in high school. The other is to tour the Upper Midwest one year like Tara (Hobo Stripper) did in her van.
This is my 3rd week. I am SO happy to work in the kind of place you can tell your friends about, and not be embarrassed. For the first time in my life, I have bouncers who have my back and a DJ who plays music JUST FOR ME! (His choices of music leave something to be desired. . . oh well.) I no longer have assholes bugging me for BJs because "The other girl does it." I am SO FREAKING HAPPY.
Just wanted to share! ;D

Re: I made it!
Awwwwwww, thanks guys! :-*
Yeah, I have not been on the board much, because I have been working so much. But now I feel like a complete noob again, so I will definitely be aroudn ehre a bunch more.
What was holding me back was my weight and my age. I am 42, and I really thought there was an expiration date stamped on my ass somewhere. As you can see from my ticker, I have lost about 80 pounds over the last 10 years. Even as recently as last winter, I was applying occasionally to clubs and being told, you are not good enough to be here. One (female, former dancer) manager even said ato me, "These girls are all 25 and skinny with big fake tits. You don't stand a chance."
Business has been getting thin on the small-bar circuit, so I tried one more time. (reading Candy Girl gave me a boost, too! ) And what do you know, it must have been my lucky day.
The club where I am now is a completely different game form what I ma used to. I have gone from being one of the best looking, best selling woman in any bar I cared to work, to being a bumbling noob again. I am competing with a bunch of beautiful young and skinny girls, with my big size-4 ass. The hustle is completely different, and I have to say, I dont totality understand it. Business is slow in the new club, too. I talked to a friend today who assures me it is slow everywhere these days. With Gas being near $5 a gallon in some areas, I'm not surprised!
So I am still going back to my real job in the dive bars to subsidize what is currently my "Hobby" job. I'm not working any more hours than I was before, and now I dont travel as much. thre are a lot of ups n downs. Last night I was ready to quit, just give up and admit failure. BUt then I tought, "Lots of people expect me to quit. I bet most people don't think I can make it. Well FUCK THEM! I worked hard to get this far, and I intend to succeed! "
Woosh, I'm tired. Got to go home and get to sleep.
