Pay2Play.net - way to sell your content securely
Some of you girls probably know about this (especially ones using IFriends) but I did a forum search and didn't find any posts about it. If you do movies/clips take a look at You upload your movies (windows media), you lock your video, and when someone goes to download ur movie they have to pay.. and they can't pirate it.
Quote from site: "Once a user has unlocked your media file with his or her payment information, or otherwise agreed to your licensing terms, the file is unlocked for that user, and only that user. So, while the user can freely redistribute the file anywhere (such as to other websites, bulletin boards, p2p networks, or email lists), any subsequent user who receives or downloads the file will also be prompted for payment information when they try to play it."
You can choose whether it's a rental, download, or ppv. The site also offers clip distribution for a commission. The site charges a 5% fee and will send you out a weekly check (minimum of $50).. I don't see alternative payment methods at this time, but they do offer fedex. It even has a feature where you can block zip codes, states, countries; from being able to unlock your video. I signed up already, but haven't uploaded any clips yet, so when I get there I will let ya'll know how goes it.
Do any of you girls have experience with the distribution help? I'd rather use this than clips4sale. (even though clips4sale has a lot of traffic)
Re: Pay2Play.net - way to sell your content securely
Why are they using paris hilton's picture on their homepage? :red flag:
Re: Pay2Play.net - way to sell your content securely
^^ It says "celebrity parody" underneath that quote- lol, it's corny. But I did do some research on it before signing up.. Apparently it is run by ifriends, I got this quote from a webmaster forum that can be found here
"If you are going to start using DRM, I recommend
It is run by Ifriends. If you have a performer or studio account, you keep 100% of the money from your sales. If you aren't, you only pay a 5% per sale fee. It's the best DRM solution for content producers I have found on the web. Yes I have been using it for years and have cashed the checks from it.
They also have an affiliate program you can use to help sell your clips. It's all explained at the site. But I'm happy to answer any questions here."
I found a few more webmaster referrals to it as well. Seems okay to me beings it's run/used by ifriends.. but hey, I could be wrong!
Re: Pay2Play.net - way to sell your content securely
I've had content for sale through them for years. Never sold a thing. I've heard the same from others.
Seems like they make the customer jump through way too many hoops to actually buy and view, unless things have changed.
Re: Pay2Play.net - way to sell your content securely
SO I am reading the process and they say they embed a DRM in the file and return it to you. You set the terms for the customer to view the video (buy it, do a ppv, etc) in the drm. So then you set up a way for customers to download the drm embedded file and upon opening it up it prompts them to pick how they want to view it and then pay for it.
Only thing is ... removing drm is one of the easiest jobs in the book so.... not sure what this gains anyone lol
Re: Pay2Play.net - way to sell your content securely
Laurie: That's ashame.. did you also use their commission thing where they distribute ur vids? guess I will stick to c4s :sigh:
Goreantx: I don't know how to remove drm, so I'm sure not every single customer knows how to... I was going to use this for my independent guys, instead of sending them to clips4sale. I will try it a few times, if it doesn't pay off, I'll shut down.

I find this interesting, especially since there have been NUMEROUS reports of security leaks on ifriends. :-X Thanks for telling us about it though :) I may check it out once a couple of you have reported back 8)

Ha, I know right?! There's been so much weirdness going on lately... and even some of the "bigger" sites have had some sketchy stuff going on.
^^ Pretty much the reason I never bothered with ifriends^^

Yes, I've used all their tools, have had an account there for years. They used to be good but the traffic died there for me, and the pay2play has never worked for me for some reason.

i'm actually starting up a site, prob over the weekend, for girls like u and me that sell to our indy guys. To begin with it's going to use your paypal to pay directly to you and in the future it will accept zombaio and alertpay. It will cost u a low monthly fee to host, process your sale, and give your customers a temp dl link

That is such a great idea! Good luck honey!
Re: Pay2Play.net - way to sell your content securely
I wanted to sign up for this pay2play site but: 1) the signup page is not a secure page and we have to enter our SSN, address, password, etc there and it's not even secure? red flag. 2) I tried to email them about this through their website and it won't even let me send the email. it cites an error and there is no email address for anyone on the site so I can email them directly. Another red flag.
Boo. :/ Seems like such a great idea. Protected content.

ya I'm excited to see it. ;D
Re: Pay2Play.net - way to sell your content securely
Naughtycammer- I didn't try e-mailing them.. thanks for letting me know this! I will try to find a way to get a hold of them.. maybe you could e-mail support at iFriends? As far as the SSN goes, I NEVER EVER enter that anywhere.. I got an EIN through the IRS just so I won't have to jeopardize myself in that way. I've had my SSN stolen before, and I'm STILL paying for it.
Re: Pay2Play.net - way to sell your content securely
shit that's scary. How did you get the EIN? Did it cost anything? Thanks!
Re: Pay2Play.net - way to sell your content securely
I got it for free off of the irs.gov website.. I applied online and they gave it right to me. It's definitely much safer than using your SSN for most of these sites.
