Going to Vegas with family to dance?
Okay so I'm thinking about going to Vegas for month or so to dance, with husband and almost 4 yr old daughter....I have never been to Vegas...heard summer months aren't that great...but still on the fence. Any advice? I was thinking of staying at hooters casino or circus circus( only bc it's kid friendly and cheap)one of my closest friends actually left today, she went before during convention and did pretty well in 3 weeks. Now she already told me it's not like getting hired in Dallas. and you have to know right girls etc. Well she got in, so I said hey well them I'm set with you ha;) I'm not the hottest thing in world and I'm more of the social butterfly..but work at the lodge in Dallas (with no boob job) and basically every other club through out the years. Actually getting my boobs done in a couple weeks. But is it a terrible idea to goto Vegas with husband and daughter? I think we might have fun, while trying to pay off boobs at same time? What do yall think?

Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
Working and family fun vacation do not mix. Sorry but I wouldn't attempt. When I work in Vegas (night shift) I would sometimes be there until 3:30am or later. And if you work day...obviously you won't be able to spend time with the family. Not to mention an entire day spent (and 245 bucks) getting licenses. So it's not a place to just go work "a night or two." LV can be hit or miss. You can bank one night than nada the next so you need to go and work AT LEAST a week to make it worth your while.
-
Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
I plan on staying for a month or 2. I figured it might take a week to get started anyways, bc of license and auditioning. My husband said maybe out daughter should stay with family for summer vacation, and just us two go. And then we can stay at cheap hotel like hooters casino or find a good deal. Hopefully I will get somewhat of a good shift. I hear getting a good shift is hard if you aren't local. Thanks for response!!!:)

Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
A lot of people don't realize that Las Vegas CAN be kid friendly. Try lake mead, circus circus has an amusement park and more. And because most clubs in Vegas are 24 hour, it's easier to manage your time between work and family. However, without your daughter you can manage your time better.
And no, getting a business liscence does not take all day. As soon as you are hired, all it takes is 30 min or less in sheriffs office then apply for business liscence online and print it out. An hour, tops.
Maybe you should look into short term rentals. Living in a hotel for a month is not fun (or cheap). Las Vegas offers short term leasing, mostly by the week- you can find a good one in a safe area for $200 a week or less. These short term rentals also offer kitchens. Living in a hotel and feeding a family of three will blow your earnings away. Lets say a minimum of $10 per meal. 10 x 3 people = $30....$30 x 3 meals a day= $90..$90 a day x 7 days a week= $630 a week. Add that with your hotel fees, youre looking at close to $1000 a week. With the short term rentals you are able to not only eat healthier, it would be much cheaper.
Must be warm and fuzzy being able to work in a place like vegas and return to the place youre staying in the arms of your daughter and husband. A place like Vegas, it's nice to have something from home to keep you grounded.

Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
By the way, you will be MISERABLE in Hooters hotel. You get what you paid for....they don't even offer free cable, the TVs only purpose is to order movies. It sucks ass trust me. Plus it's not so clean. Please do not go there. Especially for a month!!
AND Hooters hotel is also far away from most of the good strip clubs...I don't know if youre cabbing or not but the cab fare will cost more to get to work. Even if you had your own car, it sucks to be so far from work.

Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
circus circus is gross. Seriously, you'd be better off in some chain motel like a day's inn than circus circus. The rooms are nasty and they smell like old cheese. Also, if you get the cheap rooms, they stick you out in the motor lodge area which is like a really shitty motel out in their parking lot.

Ok maybe not all day but 30 minutes is unrealistic. There are three different offices you must visit AND get a referral from a club. Unless you choose to get your BL and print it online like JoJo suggested.
Her suggestion for a short term rental is VERY good one and something you should consider. Eating out in LV is very expensive.
Good luck! :)

Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
Wow!!thanks y'all!!this is just the feedback I need in order to make a decision. Okay so no to hooters and no to circus circus-I'm going to check out short term leases. My girl friend got one that is 435 all bills and furnished. Yes bc eating out is one of my concerns, no need to waste money and gain unwanted lbs!!! I plan on checking out spearmint rhino, sapphire, and maybe hustler(my friend said it's too far). My husband thought of trying to get a job while in Vegas. We were thinking we could have our daughter with us for a couple weeks, then she can start her summer vaca with my family. She spends 3 weeks up north during summer. Then maybe we could have a couple weeks with her in Vegas to do fun family stuff, then after she heads off we can work work work!!!-also do girls drink while working at the clubs? THANK yall soooo MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
yes being able to go up to the bar and order your own drink is a disadvantage and advantage combined, lol. before i start working the floor, i use to hit the bar first- its bad because not only do you get too drunk to think straight, youre already drunk and ordering a bottle in VIP would be out of the question.
I started bringing like 20 bucks on me to keep myself from over drinking lol. its nice to have a drink to unwind a little.
and yes hustler is way tooo far and not even worth it. rhino, sapphire and treasures, in that order are the highest ranking clubs.
-
Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
You can probably get a great deal on a rental right now - the housing market is REALLY bad so people are renting for a lot less than before. Don't do the hotel - find a house with a pool for the family. (If you want a nice area, try henderson - right outside of Vegas. Takes 20 minutes to get anywhere on the strip from here.)
-
Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
Yes...drinking can have it's good side and evil side haha!!! A drink or two always gets me comfortable for work:) and thanks for the clubs in order!!!Im going to try all 3 plus some if needed. I hear rhino is mostly blonde and playboy bunny type, but I'm gonna try them all!!! My goal is at least 3,000 a week and that's working 7 days a week!!! So I'm getting my game face on!!!! I'm excited, nervous, scared,& worried all at once!! Hopefully I don't have a panic attack or barf on someone haaaa jk jk. I have a friend there, but hopefully can meet some cool relaxed girls to give me the grand tour:) my friend is from Dallas too, so bot sure if she can give a proper tour.

Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
I know I am going to get flamed for this post. But dancing in Vegas has become worse than LA. It's nothing but a hard core scam out here. So even though I'm going to get flamed, at least you will know the reality. Most girls, myself included, are getting a regular job. Ricks just closed down recently. That was a huge club and it has created a big glut in the market.
If you decide to come to Vegas be careful. Things have changed out here. They are charging outrageous up front fees and a lot of girls are getting ripped off. (anywhere from $100 - $150 including all of the "mandatory" tip outs) Now days a lot of girls are in debt to these clubs by hundreds of dollars.
A lot of the clubs won't let guys pay the girls in cash for vip. In most of these clubs you have to do 2 vips for free in order to make your house and tip out. Plus you don't make much for vip anymore. It used to be 3 songs for a 100 or half hour for 300 or an hour for 500. Now it's 80 for 3 songs, 180 for half and 240 for an hour. Of course they won't tell you or the custy about all of the fees up front. You will find out the hard way; after the fact. Let's say you're in debt for hundreds and the club sends in a "secret shopper" or one of their friends to pretend like they are a custy. They agree to do a vip with you. You just did that vip for no money because they will take it.
Some of the clubs that allow guys to pay cash will try to steal your money by saying we will hold it for you. If a guy pays with credit card they will wait til you are done with your vip and tell you to come back for your $ cause "they don't want to do a financial transaction in front of the custy." When you go back to get your money they will keep saying come back then eventually they will tell you that the signatures don't match so they need to hold your $ for 90 days. In other words you just got scammed.
Most of these clubs put girls on stage constantly even when there are no custys tipping at all. They will also hook up certain girls with custys right off the bat, so you have no chance of making a sale. Then they want you to go on stage and take off your clothes to keep these customers entertained for free. Even though you have no chance of making a sale because they are already hooked up.
I have known girls who have been charged hundreds for leaving early because they were injured at work or had to leave early to go to the emergency room.
You will have no protection from bouncers at all. The only thing they do is say give me your money bitch. Because there is no longer any law requiring bouncers and club owners to take responsibility for what happens in the club, guys will grab all over you for $20 dances. They will even grab at your p#s%) - aka attempted rape. No bouncer will say or do anything.
Plus they arrest a lot of girls out here on a regular basis. Be very careful about what you say to the custy because it could be an undercover. They will arrest 90 girls at one club in one day. Some actually are hookers or try to rip guys off by saying they will do anything. Just be aware.
Most house moms are 300 pound pan handlers who bring in crappy super fattening food that no dancer would eat anyways. They demand payment whether you eat their crap or not. (I have no problem with paying someone who does something to help and there are a few good house moms, but very few.)
So now you know what dancing in Vegas is for real. If you decide to check it out anyways - who knows - maybe you will get lucky. It's possible.
You would probably be better off staying at a weekly like Desert Tides on the west side of the strip. Full kitchen washer and dryer. ? 300 a week?
pimps and managers pretending to be strippers go ahead - flame away, flame away

Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
well, you should check out my thread in club chat (vegas! first time traveling). I am here in vegas for two more weeks, been here for a week and a half, and I will say people on SW really exaggerate....
I stayed at Circus Circus for $60 a night my first week here and had a nice room, not amazing, but nice, on the 25th floor of the Skyrise towers with an AWESOME view of the strip. I used their pool, gym, and wandered around the strip, had a good time.
Getting my sherriffs card DID take the whole day, had to go to two diff clubs to get the referral slip, then got there right when they were closing, then went back the next day and waited for about 3 hours through the whole process. You can get your business card online.
It is really hard to get hired right now b/c ricks closed down, I ended up working a few shifts at Play it again Sams, a divey bar for vegas, where i have averaged 150/shift. poo. Going to Olympic Gardens to see if I can get hired there tonite. If you dont get hired one place there are a ton of other clubs to go to, and some divey ones like sams that will hire you on the spot if you are halfway good looking, so you can find work somewhere. rent a car while you are going on auditions bc cab fares are really high here.
I am here mostly to get out of town, and have broken even, but dont come here expecting to bank, and if you are paying for the costs of your whole family, you will probably leave in the red. If this is a way to make some extra $$, totally strip.
The whole omg you get so ripped off everything is awful here you will make nothing hysteria is in my mind total BS. Ive met a few ladies down here, including SW member MissMynxxx, and while money isnt awesome, you will make your stage and a few hundred once you get hired, unless you are a god awful hustler or a total drunk. ALSO the above post is some of the most hysterical nonsense I have ever heard. and you can check my long history on the board if you think i am a pimp posing as a dancer LMAO
ETA: I was rejected from: Rino, Hustler, and Treaures. I am 5'11", 170, athletic build, 25 with a cute face (is what they keep telling me LOL) and have no trouble getting in at high level clubs in my town, so unless you are a 9 or a 10 dont count on getting hired at the bigger clubs. From your description i dont think they will hire you at the top 4, just being honest. Even if you do, $3000 a week is not realistic, you will not be physically able to work more than 5 nights a week, and from what i gather average earnings are around $200-$300 a shift....that makes $1500 a week at best.

Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
I'm not telling anyone stay away from Vegas because they will for sure lose $. It's possible to make something. But don't come out here with the gullible attitude of I will make big $$$. The reason that I have listed some of the typical scams is because they do happen and have happened. Why would anyone make that up?
And yes - I know a lot of local girls who are getting out of the business. Myself included. Come out here and try. It's no big deal to me. Just be aware.

Your post was not saying she wont make big $$$, it was saying she is going to be pimped out, possibly raped, scammed, and forced to pay hundreds to leave a club to go to the ER? Im sure there are scams that are run but i know plenty of girls who have danced down here and have never heard these stories, except leaving the club owing part of your house fee one night ($100 or so). sorry but.... you came across as totally hysterical. also who are these pimps pretending to be strippers?
Just a few choice quotes so maybe you can hear what you sounds like...

Re: Going to Vegas with family to dance?
Sorry if my message sounded paranoid. I'll admit I have not tried all of the clubs. I am only 5'2" and I weigh 140 so I am kind of limited to the clubs that will hire the bigger girls. (I used to weigh 125). Don't get me wrong. I look really good and get a lot of compliments from custys. But some of the clubs want girls who are really skinny.
I've heard that Sapphires is hiring and that it's really nice and that you can make really good money. I've heard the bouncers there are really good and they make sure that the girls are safe. Same goes for the Rhino. I've heard that the only clubs that gut busted by the cops are just the full nude clubs and that was last year. I have not heard of any big busts happening this year in any of the the main stream clubs. So you only have to be careful about what you say if you work at a full nude club. But maybe not anymore because the economy has improved dramatically and the girls aren't as desparate as last year.
Despite what a lot of people say the Rhino will hire a bigger girl if she has really big fake boobs. I've heard that the Rhino and Sapphires don't over hire so the custy stripper ratio is very fair. You have to be excellent on stage though. I've also heard that DeJa Vu on Arville is super nice. It's newly remodeled and just opened. I have also heard that Glitter Gulch is a really great place to work and the girls always make their house back because it's super busy. They won't put anyone on stage unless the guys are tipping. Another club that I have heard ok reviews about is Crazy Horse. I can't apply to any new clubs right now because I start a regular job tomorrow. Plus I spranged my back on the pole.
Maybe you could give those places a try.
It's possible that the girls who told me about all of those scams were lying. Maybe club managers don't really look at this site. I don't know?
Good luck at OG. :)

About Circus Circus - I would not listen to anyone who has lived in Vegas for several years. I would recommend getting advice from people who don't live here. They know way more about hotels.

Ive just found a lot of girls exaggerate stuff like this, not necessarily lie, but maybe someones VIP earnings got dipped into bc they owed back house fee and they made it into a much bigger deal...
I did hear about a girl at Hustler giving one of the cocktail waitress' her offstage fee (to not dance on stage), then later got fined for not showing up on stage! The waitress had just pocketed the $$. The waitress however did get fired for doing this!

30 minutes for a BUSINESS LICENSE is not unrealistic. I got mine in less than 10 online. Go to nvsos.gov - click licensing - click state business license - file as a sole proprietor online. Takes like 5 minutes and another couple to actually get the link in your email to print it out.
Getting your SHERIFF'S CARD can be an all day process. You must get a referral from the hiring club, take your ID and some cash (like $50) to the Las Vegas Fingerprint Bureau and get printed and photographed. Some clubs in town require a background check - they'll let you know. The office closes at 4pm here in town - and you're looking easily at at LEAST an hour at the office alone. Plan your day to get your referral and get to the office with at least 2 hours to spare. Start early.

^OMG.
btw - I had no idea that Play it Again Sams was such a good club. Maybe I'll try it when my back heals. If you are making $1,500 a week at that club, why would you want to try another club? It sounds like a great place. Thanks for the tip.

Your hubbi should have no problem finding a job. We have the best economy in the country now. I think the unemployment rate is 3%?
I agree you should rent a house. A lot of houses are in foreclosure because they were stupid and bought more than they could afford. So they will rent out for less so they can give the money to the bank so they won't have as bad of credit. It's safer to give your money to an individual in foreclosure than giving your money to a hotel or a weekly rental.
If you have any problems you can just call the Nevada housing authority. They will help right away.
As for drinking - the clubs highly discourage drinking at work. They prefer to sell drinks to the customers only. It's better money for them. Let's face it - high fructose corn syrup is so fattening. They don't want to lose their experienced dancers.

I heard someone say that Harbor Island is really nice. I've heard good things about some of the Budget Suites too. Super safe. But I guess you will just have to check it out for your self. Cause sometimes people exaggerate.

Oh ok. So they obviously deserved it. If you can't even make your house fees to pay for the priviledge of being able to entertain the customers who come into the club, then your are obviously not very good and you should not strip!
Let's face it there are people who don't have the privelege of having a job in other parts of the world. I'm sure they would gladly pay to have the priviledge of employment if given the opportunity. I think everyone should have to pay for the priviledge of employment. I'll bet if cashiers, housemoms, dj's, bartenders, barbacks and bouncers all had to pay for the priviledge of employment, they would probably be better workers.

I'm NOT making that much at all at Sams, Ive only worked a few nights there and averaged around $150/shift, hustling my ass off, but both were slow according to staff, Ill report back on that if I work more shifts there.
The $200-300 per night was based on word of mouth from girls at hustler, treasures, and rhino. I was saying if she worked 5 shifts a week at a good club she will at most make $1500/week...definitely not the $3000/week figure she is shooting for...
of course girls do have $1000 nights and she might luck out on a 3k week. But you can also win 3k at the craps table at the casino. if you're lucky.
