A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
Editing to emphasize that on my "UPDATE" post below, I hade made a mistake on the name of the site I used to sign up for SM. The correct name of the good SM recruiter site is ADULTWEBCAMMODEL.com not webcammodels
Hello everyone, as most newbies do, I also browsed this forum for a while before signing up and still browsed a little more before posting now for the first time.
I am doing my introduction here in this part of the forum because I only strip on cam so I can't say that I am a stripper.
Actually, I am just starting camming again after 4 years and the nervousness and apprehension I feel are the same I felt when I started camming a few years ago.
Before anything else, I just want to sincerely thank all of you so much for all the help I find in this forum. Even though I really need the money, I think I wouldn't have taken the jump to do camming again if I hadn't been able to find so much valuable information here and also in a way feel that I can have some support from you girls.
I haven't made myself available for cam yet, but just signed up and have been approved at Adultwork, and I am in the process of signing up with SM.
I have read here a few times that we shouldn't send our driver's license to these sites because it has our address. I ended up having to send my driver's license to AW.
I don't have just an ID card and that would take a while to get. My passport is not a USA passport, since I am a permanent resident, not a citizen. I suppose that it just being a non-USA passport may not be a problem even though I live in the USA, the main problem is that my last name on my passport is not my current legal last name because I got married here in the USA and my country of origin (not saying it here not to give any tips to any lurker about my cam identity) doesn't recognize foreign marriages without a long process of application for the recognition of the marriage. So, even though I have renewed my passport after getting married, it still is under my legal name in my country of origin.
But I really would like to avoid sending my DL to Streamate as I think they may be more likely to use material from the site and share the models' documentation.
I am considering using my Green Card at SM as my age verification document. I know that a Green Card is a form of ID but the pictures on the newer Green Cards show quite faint when scanned.
I would appreciate any input about the questions below:
1) Should I be too concerned that AW has a copy of my driver's license?
2) Do you think SM will accept a Green Card as a verification document?
3) Should I send the GC, whether they accept it or not, does anyone foresee any problems (like with the INS for example) I could have for using a Green Card as document on a cam site?
4) Would a non-USA passport be acceptable to SM should I be able to provide other documents proving that I am the same person even though the passport has a different last name (my first name and two middle names are the same in the passport, only the last name is different)?
I know it is unlikely anyone will really know the answers to these questions for sure, but some of you are so knowledgeable and experienced in this industry that I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask before I have to deal with the Streamate staff.
In any event, thank you so much again.

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
Hi and welcome! I don't know the answers to your questions, but all you have to do is write each company you wish to work for, and ask them those questions yourself. They will tell you either yes or no. Plus a green card, and passport are both legal government documents. So I am not sure why they would NOT take those as verification. I also don't see how immigration would be concerned about you using your green card to sign up for a cam site. I doubt they are looking at you that hard for 1, and 2. working for a webcam site is completely legal, and we pay the government taxes. Good luck!

plus one on all the great honest advice!

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
they should accept a passport or green card, but you can email them to ask. i know a lot of non-us girls use their passports for verification, but i'm not certain whether the last name change would be a problem. an id card (in the us anyway) has your address the same as a drivers' license does, though (i have an id card, not a dl, and i use that as my verification doc).

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
Thanks for the welcome and opinions so far. I understand that only SM can give me a direct answer about the documentation.
When I did camming before, I only did it through AW and, at the time, they didn't ask for any documentation or verification whatsoever so, I am kind of uneasy about all this documentation floating around in the hands of people I have no idea who they are.
Since I wanted to introduce myself and express my appreciation for the help I have already gotten from the members of this board while just lurking, I thought I would post about my situation here more to see if anyone would come up with issues or ideas I hadn't thought of than actually expecting to get direct answers.
:thanx:

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
I am editing the post to correct the name of the site I signed up through it was not webcammodels. The right name of the site is ADULTWEBCAMMODEL. I am very sorry for the mistake
----------- UPDATE --------------
I am all signed up with Streamate. I did it through ADULTWEBCAMMODEL, with Vanessa. She is very helpful, answered all my questions, helped me when I couldn't answer my own secret question by checking what was wrong and telling me I had made a typo on the answer (I got a reply to my email about this literally in like 5 minutes).
Once I sent everything they require, she sent me an approval in about 15 minutes and my account was activated.
ADULTWEBCAMMODEL is not a studio. When you sign up through there, you will be signing up directly with SM.
If anyone is not with streamate and wants to sign up, I recommend doing it through Vanessa at ADULTWEBCAMMODEL.COM. I don't get anything if anybody signs up with her and she didn't ask me to advertise. I was just so impressed with how helpful and prompt she was and just so glad that everything was easy and fast that I thought it was worth mentioning and maybe helping other girls who may want to sign up for SM.
Happy camming to all!

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
^^I don't know what she's talking about! This is what Vanssa's sig is at the end of her emails:
Warm regards,
VANESSA
Model Recruiting Division,
Streamates Ltd.
email: [email protected]
website:
TWITTER: AWModel
Facebook: Search "Vanessa Eve" (look for AWM logo)
NOTE: AWM is the official recruiting division of the major adult web entertainment network, Streamate. We are NOT a third-party agency or webcam studio; models that sign through AWM will sign directly with the major adult web entertainment network, Streamate. AWM's services are free of charge; AWM does NOT asess any fees for our services. Our models will have full advantage to not only earn more, but take full control of their independent webcam business with the advantage of having a personal representative available to assist them with their needs.
If you click the link in her email,it takes you to the real website. Up in the top right hand corner it says: "official recruiting department"! Click on it,it takes you to SM. Something fishy may be up with this SSxxx character. Perhaps she's read the board and sees where we've listed Vanessa as a contact and is now using her name as bait to reel future models in to her studio? Like you just said those studios ARE getting sneakier!

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
Very fishy indeed. Well everyone has been warned. It's up to them to make a wise decision. Do you want 20% or 35%
The choice is yours.

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
I could be wrong(don't think I am though) and if I am,I'll be sure to come back here and correct it! As far as I know,I've been getting 35%. I've emailed SM support from my model login to be sure about Vanessa though. Always good to be sure!

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
I could be wrong also, and If I am then I will apologize. But I find it odd that I type webcammodels.com in my browser, and .com shows up instead. Not once, but 3x. And the OP stated it was webcammodels, not adultwebcammodels. So if I am wrong correct me. I just hate to see anyone get duped into 20%

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
webcammodels redirects to .com for me, and IS a studio. however, adultwebcammodel.com is NOT a studio (at least, according to one or two other models here who know them, i think angelcummings posted about this?), it's part of streamate's model recruitment division, no different than signing up through streamatemodels.com

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
^^Yep thats what I thought!

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
I do have to correct that the site I signed up through was ADULTWEBCAMMODEL.COM. I am very sorry for my mistake on the name of the site, I'll correct it on the previous posts.
I understand the skepticism about ADULTWEBCAMMODEL, but I know it is NOT a studio. When I sent in the first inquiry for sign up, my first question was whether I would be signing up directly with SM or if they were a studio.
This is the answer I got to my question regarding whether I would be signing up directly with SM:
"Yes. As Streamate's very own, in-house recruiting division, we sign models DIRECTLY to the Streamate network. Because we are directly linked to Streamate, we do NOT take any additional percentages of models' paychecks as a webcam studio or agency would. We are simply here to assure that models that sign up with Streamate are able to start promptly, and that they are at their highest earning potential; we offer our services free of charge."
I didn't sign any contract with ADULTWEBCAMMODEL, my contract came directly from SM and it has only the SM logo and name. There is no mention of Webcammodels on the contract. ADULTWEBCAMMODEL will not get any percentage out of my earnings. All links I received to sign up and to download forms took me directly to the SM site.
I know I am new here and that can look "fishy" but I guarantee that I do not work for anyone and have no personal interest in praising ADULTWEBCAMMODEL and Vanessa. I am really a cam girl re-starting my cam work.
If you have any doubts, sign up from the SM site, however, I just wanted to let people know about my experience and what worked very well for me. I hear people complaining about waiting a long time for approval and not getting answers to their questions in a decent time from SM support. With Vanessa I was getting answers to all my emails in minutes.
At the end, each one has to do what they feel more comfortable with, skepticism is a good thing, but based on my experience, ADULTWEBCAMMODEL / Vanessa is the best route to get into SM.

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
Experiences signing up with SM have been mixed. When I signed up around Feb. it took about 18 hours for my account to be approved and activated.

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
Thanks for clarifying, and I apologize. You initially said "webcammodels.com" which links to a studio.

Re: A"Hello" and big THANK YOU, & newbie questions (not the usual questions)
^^Yeah,what she said...:sorry:
