late shifts = no babysitter?
Okay so I've recently been thinking of getting into this business, and aside from my manyyy concerns, I'm most concerned over who will watch my infant daughter! She is my first child so I naturally have trust issues in leaving her under the care of anyone else other than my mother and I. Frankly, I can't even thinkk of anyone who would be up for it without having to give them a convincing cover story as to why I'm working so late and why I so badly need them to watch her. I'd obviously choose someone dear to me..and anyone dear to me would know that my MOTHER would want nothing than to spend 24hrs of the dayyy with the baby. She'd be distraught should she ever find out though! Ugh!!! I'm convinced this is the best option for me right now, I need the job but wthhh do I do in this situation??? To the other mums out there: please helpppp!

Can you tell her that u are a cocktail waitress or that you check id's at the entrance? Will she buy that story?
An infant won't be able to communicate with you if something is wrong in another persons care. I wouldn't be comfortable leaving her with anyone I didn't totally trust.
Re: late shifts = no babysitter?
do u even need to tell her u work in a stripclub? couldnt u just say ur tending bar in a normal club or waitrissing or sumthing? theres plenty of other people who work nites.

That is exactlyy what scares me the most. But thanks girls, you're both right, in that I can easily tell her I'm simply bartending. I did forget to mention that in the past, I was actuallyy bartending at an afterhours club...and the sneak she is followed me (with my DAD) on a night to work. If she wouldn't be able to now, she'd definately send him. I guess I'm just really gonna have to pull out some acting skills on this one..b.c she didn't believe a thing when I wass telling the truth... :-\

You could try Sittercity.com or Care.com. I used to be a member of both (as a sitter), and you can find people with reviews and background checks. Then you wouldn't have to worry about your mom finding out what you do.

I LOVE your ass (or whoever's ass it is) in that avatar pic...just sayin =) Very sexy.
Re: late shifts = no babysitter?
^^Thank you darling....it is all me! #biggrin
Yeah, if They may follow you out there, that's tricky. Other than checking your rear view mirror everynight, you may have to tell them you work at once place but go somewhere else. I do that too people I don't want finding me at work.

Have you tried dancing yet? Maybe just ask your mother to watch your daughter for you so you can have a 'night off' or a 'girls night', just so you can get one night in at the club. Might as well see if you like dancing before you risk your mother finding out your intentions. If you work at a SC and end up making some money and thinking it's what you want to do, then take what you made that night and invest in a good quality baby-sitter. Like sammii said, there are places that have well reviewed and documented sitters. They're probably not cheap like a teenager would be, but Baby's worth the extra money.
Congrats on your new baby BTW! You sound like a great protective momma!

What an AWESOME idea! I've been trying to think of how to ask my step mom to watch my daughter while I work but how the heck do I explain an 8pm to 5am shift? Since I haven't actually done this yet I think your advice is excellent about making sure you want to do it before either telling the truth or investing in an expensive sitter. Thanks so much!
Re: late shifts = no babysitter?
Where i live there are 'anytime' nanny services that provide licensed, vetted nannies at any hour, for any length of time, with no notice. Also, you can ask girls who are already dancing how they deal with childcare. There are women who will take care of your kid(s) knowing what you do for work, without BS stories.

Can you say you work for an agency that provides temp workers for the hospitality industry so you are working at different locations all the time. I guess that would only stop them from turning up at the place you say you're working at, or gives you an excuse to not be where you said you were going to be "oh they sent me to another location after I got there". I worked for a temp agency doing agricultural work and they did that all the time. It doesn't stop them from following you though.
