Song Suggestions for an Incomplete Set
Hi ladies (and gents),
I usually dance to alternative music, but I've got a couple soul / jazz type songs I'd like to put in a set for when I want to change things up. I need another 1 or 2 songs to round out the set though and I'm completely drawing a blank. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions! The songs I want to use are:
Adele - Rolling in the Deep
Gil Scott Heron - Me and the Devil
Thanks!
Re: Song Suggestions for an Incomplete Set
First, let me know when you've read & copied this so I can delete these. I don't like to leave my music lists up.
I LOVE that first song. I've heard it before & it's something I would dance to.
You seem to be going with a sort of darker jazzy theme here, so based on that here are a few suggestions:
1. Sold My Soul - Beat That Chicken - Eartha Kitt (3:30 - slow/medium)
2. Your Heart Is As Black As Night - Melody Gardot (2:42 - slow) I LOVE dancing to this song! It tends to get the same sort of reaction from men as Fever by Peggy Lee... it draws men to the stage!
3. You Leave Me Cold - Jill Tracey (3:52 - slow/medium)
4. After Dark - Tito & Tarantula (4:11 - slow/medium) Ever stripper should also watch this scene at least once from Dusk Till Dawn with Salma Hayek
5. Bourbon In Your Eyes - Devil Doll (4:51 - slow)
6. Evil Night Together - Jill Tracey (4:35 - slow/medium)
7. I Put A Hex On You - Candye Kane (3:54 -slow/medium)
8. The Fine Art of Poisoning - Jill Tracey (5:38)
10. If I Can't Sell It, I'll Just Keep Sittin On It - Ruth Brown (5:22)
This one is REALLY great for when the customers aren't spending. Basically you can just prance around the stage, make lots of eye contacts, tease, sit on the edge of the stage... & use your body language to let them know that THIS is a place where they need to be tipping if they want to see anything really good... There is also another version by Bea Arthur
I really feel like there is now way to keep from understating how much I LOVE this song! It's like the old school version of "No Scrubs" by TLC, which I also play if guys think they can get away with not tipping.
A bit more of a tempo mixed by a good group who has a good following:
Man In Black - Devil Doll (2:23 - medium)
Similar
I'm Not Evil - Lavay Smith (3:23 - slow/med)
Something faster that might work & is well recognized:
Sympathy For the Devil - The Rolling Stones (6:17 - slow/medium)

Did you know that Gil Scott-Heron died yesterday? He passed away in a New York hospital on Friday afternoon.....I heard it on the BBC at 5.00am this morning. He was only 62, very sad.

^^^Damn, just saw this too. I've always been a fan of his. The real inventor of rap. Though I bet he was disgusted with what it has now become.
Anyway, I would use Revenge of the Number by Portishead with this set, I think it would work well.

There are other jazzy/sexy songs I have that that would work well, but I need to look in my music hard drive (I cleared everything out of the laptop temporarily) for them.
Re: Song Suggestions for an Incomplete Set
Thank you both for the suggestions! I really like a couple of the songs.
And I didn't know about Gil Scott Heron. That's so sad. The man was a genius. =(
