Having trouble getting started...
I found a couple local entertainment shops to get some shoes/wig/outfits. So the first one I went to didn't have a great variety, and their shoes were really expensive but looked used or returned or just really dirty from being tried on too many times. So I went up the street to another place and the girl working there was so rude.
I asked her for some help with shoes and she made me wait about 10 minutes before she went and got them for me. When I was checking out there was a sign that read: Dancers get a 20% discount so I asked about it. Specifically, I asked how do you prove you're a dancer to get the discount. She just rolled her eyes at me and said, "well you're obviously not a stripper, right?" I shook my head no, and she goes on, "you can tell as soon as they walk through the door, just the way they walk, look, you can tell by the way they smell."
So I bought my shoes and a little outfit and went home. I walked around in the shoes for a while and realized they're too small. So now I'm afraid of going back to the store to try to return them (I got them in a size 8 but need a 9 and they don't have 9s). I don't even know if they do returns.
Do these places usually do returns? Are the people who work in these stores usually that mean? I thought maybe she was being a hater because she had too much acne to ever be a stripper so she was saying mean things...?
Is it better to order online? If so, what websites would you guys recommend? Should I go back to this store to try to return the shoes? They were 60 bucks so I'd like to get my money back but this girl was a real cunt so I'm not sure I should even bother.
Also, when I go in for my audition should I bring a CD with my three songs or could they play it off something like an iPod?
Last question, the club I'm auditioning at says you have to go topless during second song, naked during the third. Would it be okay if I took my bottoms off during the last minute or so of the last song? Or is that cheating?
I'm really nervous about this audition and trying to get my gear together has sucked really bad.
Re: Having trouble getting started...
OMG, how do you say...meltdown. First off, take a deep breath and maybe a nap or some chamomile tea. Next thing, don't throw away your money on crap you don't even know you need yet. Once you get hired, the club will tell you what you need, if anything at all.
The club is your first point of reference, so, ask them. Forget the stripper shoes right now for your audition. You already wasted enough money.
Just show up in a matching outfit that looks really good on you in person and in pictures (because they might take a photo). Have your makeup, hair, and nails presentable, and wear comfy, sexy heels that you're not going to fall over in (the higher the better).
Hopefully, all of this is already in your closet. No need to get fancy. Stripclubs do auditions every day. They know what they want and who they want to train. Don't get stressed out over things you can't control.
Don't worry about bringing any music. Just be prepared to tell them what genre of music you like and be able to provide a few song examples, if that.
Try practicing in front of the mirror to different music. Do a 360 degree check of your body. Only highlight your best assets. Only do in your audition what you're good at, nothing over the top. Look natural, not nervous. Don't eat anything heavy before your audition. You don't want to look bloated.
Be sure to cut your clothing tags and any loose strings. Make sure you have no visible signs of deodorant on your clothes or under your arms. Don't overdo it on the perfume, but make sure you look clean and crisp.
Best of luck, I hope this helps...
