I am thinking the same thing...so ironic, I was making my list of places to go last night. About 4 days out of the week working about 6 hours per night or so should be good tips....I am thinking that Thursday to Sunday are the best days, but I guess it depends on the club...Mondays might be good at some places.

Re: Applying at Strip Clubs as a Cocktail Waitress/Bartender?
I'd like to hear about it too Model Chick, if you don't mind. Congrats!! Did you get immediatly hired after your interview? I'd love a job as a shooter girl, but I'm only 19, and I think most clubs have a 21+ policy.

Re: Applying at Strip Clubs as a Cocktail Waitress/Bartender?
I wish I got the job already!! No I'm saying my training is Thursday. If I do well, she said she'll put me on the schedule as Thursday-Sunday. I also wish all I had to do is waitress, but apparently they're hiring me just to walk around the club, look pretty and sell shots. Basically if my sales skills aren't up to par, they won't be asking me back :(

You can do it...and congratulations! Just work hard, look cute and smile.
I hope I can find something too...

Let us know how it goes. Good luck. :)

Re: Applying at Strip Clubs as a Cocktail Waitress/Bartender?
You can definitely get a job as a bartender or shot girl without having to dance. I've met girls that just aren't comfortable dancing, even air-dancing, working in the club.
I would think you just have to be straightforward about the job you want.

i applied yesterday and sent them another application online again today. Still no luck of emailing or calling me back whatsoever!!!! Would it be better if i walk in and apply? Or should I call and ask to talk to the manager?

It's better if you walk in. Unless you have a lot of experience and good references, it will be your looks and personality that get you the job. Just walk in there with your makeup and hair done, looking cute, and ask to speak to the manager. Then tell the manager you're interested in being a bartender or shot girl or waitress, or whatever job you're interested in, and ask if they're hiring. Then ask for an application. You will stand out from all of the other applicants because you actually took the initiative to walk in instead of just filling out an application online.

I don't know what would be the best approach to get hired. Clubs will have different attitudes towards this. Some hire girls just to be shot girls.
Just say, "I want to do to so and so." It's common for clubs to hire dancers/former dancers, and guys, to work behind the bar but there are exceptions. A club I frequented for a while downtown had a girl behind the bar who worked there for many years. She didn't even drink, never danced. She was a good bartender too.
She saw a lot of dancers come and go.

I co-sign this entire post. You have to be more aggressive about getting the job you want. Who knows, you could have emailed your application to an address that gets checked once or month or something. If you go in person most likely you'll get a yes or a no on the spot. The time you're spending waiting for a response from your online application, you could be already hired and working!
Good luck!

Re: Applying at Strip Clubs as a Cocktail Waitress/Bartender?
Yes, I think going in and looking cute, not too dressed up and filling out an application and then asking someone if the manager is available is a good idea. I just did that today. Just filling out an application and giving it to a dancer or a bartender who is a woman may cause it to get lost if you know what I mean...
I am just saying, people can be ugly and there is a lot of jealousy in this industry....so I think filling out the application and then asking just to see one of the managers so he/she can see you face to face is a good idea. Sell yourself, as in just mention your positive points (available immediately, reliable, willing to work fulltime, partime)...and smile and seem a little energetic but not annoying and most of all state your experience.
Only a blind man can resist a cute or beautiful woman who is willing to work hard (for those TIPS) AND be reliable....that is an assett to HIS club, men want cute girls to serve them too.

Re: Applying at Strip Clubs as a Cocktail Waitress/Bartender?
I have an interview for a shot girl position at a sports bar on Friday. Can someone please give me advice on what to wear? I don't want to look too dressed up or too casual, and I really want the job.

You can't go wrong with your hair done, nice clean make-up, a pair of tight jeans that show off your shape and a t-shirt (that shows tasteful cleavage). If you are not interested in wearing jeans, then dry something else, but be sexy...but not too sexy or appear to be "thirsty" (aka desperate).

Re: Applying at Strip Clubs as a Cocktail Waitress/Bartender?
Thanks; I think I'll take your advice. I'd rather not be sexy enough than look like I'm trying too hard. I was thinking of tight white ripped jeans, a low cut navy and white striped t-shirt with a cut-out back, and some gray gladiator sandals. I'll just wear my hair down and straight with maybe a clip on the side, and natural looking makeup. :)

Re: Applying at Strip Clubs as a Cocktail Waitress/Bartender?
Maybe I'm the only one and this is just how it works down South. My "interview" is actually me training! The manager in the club I'm trying to work at trains the girls every Thursday and they hire you based on weather or not you can sell. So basically I won't be sitting down talking to anyone about anything. I have to arrive already dressed to work. She suggested I wear a skirt and sexy shirt, comfortable shoes of course and not much make up since the club is kind of dark. They actually have sexy uniforms and they'll order me one if they decide to keep me :) Anybody else here apply to a club that works like this? Where your training IS your interview?
-
Re: Applying at Strip Clubs as a Cocktail Waitress/Bartender?
I don't think it will be like that for me. They told me the whole interview process will take 20 minutes, and the verbal interview will take about 5 minutes. So I'm not sure if they'll hire on the spot, or train me and see how I do, or tell me that they'll call. I hope training isn't part of my interview. That would be really nerve-wrecking for me.
Do you know much about drinks ModelChick? I don't know much about mixing drinks so I'm kind of worried that I'll lose the interview because of that. Should I do some research before the interview? Sorry for changing the subject. It's just something I've been thinking about and I figured, you might know since you're already in training.
-
Re: Applying at Strip Clubs as a Cocktail Waitress/Bartender?
My training isn't until this coming Thursday, but no I don't know crap about mixing! Then again I'm not trying to be a bartender just a shooter girl/waitress. If I were you yeah I'd take one day and do some serious researching! Might be a good thing in case they ask specific questions about certain drinks.

Re: Applying at Strip Clubs as a Cocktail Waitress/Bartender?
Sam I sure hope your interview went a lot better than mine!! So Thursday I arrived dressed almost perfectly. She showed and told me the ins & outs of the club and I got to work selling. Everything was well,I was smiling and selling doing my job. Then as I was walking away from a table, this guy grabs my a**! I mean he just smacked me right on it after I was done taking his order /:O At first I was like ok maybe I'm exaggerating he was just flirting & it was a light touch. *HELL NO* The second time I told my trainer and she told me "oh the men do that all of the time, its just like saying hello". WTF?? As the night went on I basically steered clear of the tables and the loose hands and just walked around the bar selling as much as I could. Apparently I did well because they asked me back. When I went home I was not a happy camper. I should have been feeling great about my little part time gig,but no I couldn't get over how touchy feely the custies were! Then the dancer section of this forum came to mind. I remember reading about the "extras girls". Of course I was thinking no this club seems to classy to be like that. I just brushed it off and went in again last night. However after the third "loose hand",I went to the manger and told her I quit! She said they didn't want me anyway if I didn't know how to act "grown up" ::) They must be out of their damn minds! I'm not even a dancer and even if I was the club is supposed to be no-contact! Thats nothing as I was leaving I overheard one of the dancers saying how she hopes it picks back up because if not she would have to start giving out BJ's again :O Yeah if it wasn't for me working in this industry or being a member of SW,I wouldn't have known what "BJ" even stood for. I also would have been scared of those men and their wondering hands instead of pissed off. So thats how my weekend went. Just a few words of advice ladies. Before you apply to any club try to feel it out as a customer. I know the dancers should, but I never thought as a waitress/shooter girl I should as well. Now I know better!
