SONY EVI CAMERAS W/ PTZ and REMOTE
Does anyone know where I can get a good Sony EVI-100 for 300 dollars or less? Even on Ebay they are super expensive. I really want one of these even though I have like 5 logitechs, including to of the newest HD ones. Sony has a new HD cam but it's over 2 thousand dollars :O
Is there any software that I could download that would make the cheaper sony evi's (100, 70, or 30) HD or HQ??
Thanks :)

Re: SONY EVI CAMERAS W/ PTZ and REMOTE
Ebay is usually my go to for cheap. Maybe a pawnshop ?
-
Re: SONY EVI CAMERAS W/ PTZ and REMOTE
^^ Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately none of the pawn shops near me have them :(
Does anyone use this for camming? It's almost 4 thousand dollars... woud it even be worth it??
I really want an EVI-100 though :( As long as there is software or something to make it HD

Re: SONY EVI CAMERAS W/ PTZ and REMOTE
It isn't possible to make an SD camera be HD...if the sensor is only able to do SD, then there is no software that will improve the resolution since that is physical limitation...
What might be possible would to extrapolate an HD pic so it would work on HD sites, but it would not have the true clarity of HD, it would just be "simulated"...
Kind of like when a DVD player upconverts a DVD to 1080p...it looks nice, but if one puts in the actual BlueRay they can still see a HUGE difference.
So, short answer...Nope...HD has to have an HD cam with an HD sensor.

Re: SONY EVI CAMERAS W/ PTZ and REMOTE
Wait why do you even need that thing? It's supossed to be a security camera, not a webcam.
What are your needs for a new webcam? As in, what are the features you're looking for?
Also, those cameras are not your common USB webcams, you'll have to invest more hundred of dollars in a HD-SDI capturing card, which will be just a bunch of dollars wasted and a huge hassle to set up.

I DID NOT pay $4000 for it. I got a refurbished one on ebay for a steal and it was probably from someone who bought it & didn't know how the fuck to make it work.
It isn't compatible with the FME 3.1. You have to buy additional software called wirecast that recognizes that HD signal. That costs more money.
However, you can then cam on streamate using their FME encoder settings.
It doesn't work on any web broadcasting flash player like MFC or OHC
You also need a separate mic for it because it doesn't have a built in mic
It is made for conferences for big companies. But I love it because I can shoot self shot POV fetish videos really easily in 1080p HD and edit them by just cutting out the parts when I adjust the remote.
The quality is also much better than the EVI-100, although I loved the EVI-100 for camming.
I sold my EVI-100 for $600 on ebay, so it worked out ok in the end. But it was a learning experience that's for sure!

Well, I really want a cam with:
1. Pan
2. Zoom
3. Tilt
4. A remote control
I know about tracker cams for logitechs but that's not really what I want. :/

I would like to know any cams that are like this....

4. A remote control
I know about tracker cams for logitechs but that's not really what I want. :/ (LIKE SHE SAiD)
As there any other cams besides the ones in the topic? I want to get a different one myself for camming and videos only because I am tired of moving my logitech AF around when I do shows.
Ideas? I am willing to invest $ but not thousands of dollars.

You need to buy something like the Dazzle to convert the analogue signal to a digital signal.
http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSit...oducts/Dazzle/
You also need a microphone because it doesn't come with one. And then you should be good to go! Let me know if you have any other questions:)

Re: SONY EVI CAMERAS W/ PTZ and REMOTE
BellaBellini,
What are you using now since you sold Sony EVI ? What's all need for Mac users to set it up ? Do you use Mac platform while setting up the cam or use Windows platform from the Mac ? If you do Indy cam, does it work fine in skype ?

I used this one:
http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSit...or+Plus+HD.htm
or I got the mac version. I think it was only the software for editing videos that needed to be compatible with mac. Both convert the signal.

I upgraded to the Sony EVIHD1. But I don't really recommend doing it unless you are prepared to spend an extra $700 on different broadcast software like Wirecast.
At the moment no online flash broadcaster system (like OHC, webcamclub, MFC) is compatible with the Sony EVIHD1. It only works with sites that use the FME and then you have to use Wirecast instead of the FME. FME 3.1 doesn't recognize the HD signal.
It isn't compatible with skype either.
However, it is fantastic to record self-shot videos. It records at 1080P with an optical zoom and it is so easy to edit out the parts when you are adjusting the angle with your remote.
So I'm happy with it for my needs now, but it took me ages to figure out how to use it and I only cam on certain sites.
I still use the logitech HD Pro C910 if I'm logged into my voyeur cam account. The C910 is mac compatible and works with skype.
I also got it for $1000 and it is usually over $3000. I would never consider paying $3000+ for a camera at the moment!
Both the Sony EVIHD1 & Sony EVI 100 are mac compatible. You don't need to run bootcamp or parallels to broadcast.

Re: SONY EVI CAMERAS W/ PTZ and REMOTE
I know this is not PTZ but I saw a video where Logitech C910 followed this woman's face through facial recognition:
@00:50
Jaw-dropping! *_*
I don't understand how can it do such a thing!? I doesn't have any "robotic" parts like the Sony PTZ
(of course it wouldn't work if you want the view on your butt, etc.)

If I purchase SONY EVI 100, does it work for USB port to connect the cables ? Does the software for SONY EVI 100 works on Mac ? I can do without Wirecast if get the SONY EVI 100? What's else require to run the camera on Mac ?
I apologize for asking all these questions being on Mac so limited getting stuff to work that more base for Win platform. Thank you so much for responding to me from previous.
I do have the Logitech c910. I'm just disappointed that for the software for Mac users they only include software to snap photos, video and to use it for live caming and the other features Motion Detection not supported for Mac users. I hope Logitech continues to do upgrades and include software for it.

Most logitech cams will do that if you have updated software. I believe it does it with the digital zoom feature. My 9000 does it. Just click "follow my face". I tried it and my viewers absolutely hated it.

Re: SONY EVI CAMERAS W/ PTZ and REMOTE
The software for the SONY EVI 100 doesn't work on mac, but it is lame software. You don't need it. You can change everything that you change in the software using the remote. They haven't upgraded the software in YEARS, so I wouldn't worry about it.
The Sony EVI 100 is not a usb webcam like the logitech cams. You need an analogue to digital converter like I said in the previous post. You would have to buy the Dazzle to broadcast.
So you need the Dazzle and an external mic to broadcast with the Sony EVI 100
You don't need Wirecast if you are using the Sony EVI-100. I could cam on OHC and MFC (on windows) with the the Sony EVI 100.
I never used it on skype, but I think it would work fine.

I'm glad you started this thread. I had given up on looking for them at that price range because they always seemed to be 600 minimum and, even though that is half off of it's regular price, I wasn't willing to spend it for part time camming. But now that I'm gonna be on so much more it makes sense for me. Your thread made me consider checking out ebay for deals again and I ended up winning the bid on one for 310 total so I'm excited!
I got a peek at Candi Cruz, JaydaDiamonde and CyberKim's (from streamate) remotes and this is what they seem to use to get those awesome quick close ups, pans, tilts, etc at the click of a button. This will give me so many more easy angle options and smooth transitions in my room. I haven't upgraded my camera since I started camming several years ago so...
And BellaBellini thanks for all the clarification help (dazzle, etc.) in this and other threads.

Yay I'm so happy for you! I've found a lot of cool stuff on ebay for crazy cheap over the years! My Sony EVI 100 actually came today, and it looks great! I'm so excited!
