DRINK WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!
remember the important health benefits of water :) have you been drinking enough water lately? chances are you probably don't! I'm definitely guilty of not following the 8 glasses of water a day rule, but it's important to get hydrated either by drinking straight water or eating fruits and vegetables that have a high water content.
benefits of water:
-GREAT for your skin!!! sure, lotions and creams will moisturize you...temporarily! but the REAL moisturizing comes from inside! drinking lots of water will prevent wrinkles and keep you looking young ;) it also prevents acne by flushing out all that crap that gets under your skin
-natural antioxidant. water flushes out toxins in your body and the less toxins in your body, the better your immune system will work and the higher your metabolism will be
-weight loss. water helps with weight loss in a couple ways. first, it'll reduce water retention. yes, your body actually retains MORE water when you're dehydrated, it's a survival response. you store water the same way you store fat. also, when you're dehydrated your metabolism slows down by about 15 percent. water also makes you feel more full. sips of water between bites will make you fill up faster and eat fewer calories. also, I'm sure you've heard that sometimes when you feel hungry it might actually be thirst and it's true!
-being hydrated gives you more energy during the day and gives you better sleep at night (or vice versa if you're a night worker ;])
-cures headaches
-helps digestion
-boosts mood
and I'm sure there's lots of others that I can't think of right now...
anyway...think about it, your body is mostly made up of water. you need water for your brain to function. you need water for all of your organs to work. you need water to fuel your muscles. your bones need water. your blood needs water. your whole body LOVES water! :]
if you KNOW you don't get enough water, make water your new best friend. drink a big glass of water first thing in the morning. make a conscious effort to have a bottle in your purse, in your car, stick 2 extra bottles in your work bag and your gym bag. stay hydrated! swap the soda for some h2o! you'll save money and cut out sugar and sodium!
drinking enough water is a small step that anyone can do to be more healthy and the positive effects are so immense :]

Thanks! Although I did read that fats, particularly animal fats are really what hydrate and nourish your skin, more so than water.

The 8 glasses of water a day is not an accurate rule of thumb, nor is it appropriate for everyone - some people need more hydration, others require less. There are many factors at play: age, climate, diet, health, fitness, etc. Just my 2 cents.

I know that, but that wasn't the point.

I'm so glad that you posted this. And no, diet sodas and energy drinks do NOT take the place of water. Sodas actually dehydrate you. Plus soda is wicked expensive. If you don't want to drink tap water and hate the expensive bottled waters, I recommend ZeroWater filtration system: www.zerowater.com. Seriously, this is the best water I've ever had; better than any designer bottled waters. It's the most pure taste you'll ever find. I have one in my fridge and I don't know how I would ever live without it.

seriously diet soda is CRAP! I've heard people say that they drink it because water is too "plain" but I've been making a conscious effort in the past month to drink more water and I've started to crave it plus I feel amazing now! I have way more energy than I ever have.
