They do have the option to rate sometimes, but it's very glitchy. Sometimes it doesn't give the option, sometimes it does. Sometimes their rating shows up and sometimes it doesn't.

^^^ I noticed this too, a guy tipped me 5 GBP & it was listed as $7 so i got the cut off $7. Nice when u tipped in currencies that has a higher value than US Dollars but not nice when opposite.
^^ I wonder if that applies to Gold Shows, too? What if it's a currency that's WAY lower than USD, for example Japanese Yen? If so, one Japanese guy could buy out your 200 GOLD show, and he would actually only have spent $2!! You probably wouldn't even know it until after the show, when you would see earnings of $0.70 for the whole thing.
My understanding of the currency thing is that if the customer's currency is worth less than the buy in for your show, he would have to tip in more. I could be wrong (or they could've changed it), but if the customer's currency is worth less, then it should convert the cost for him. I think where the confusion comes in is with customers tipping in their currency, they think about it in terms of their currency. Like Alice mentioned, her customer tipped her 5 pounds. He wouldn't be sitting there thinking "Well, she's asking $5 for a flash, so I'll tip her 3 pounds instead." But that's with non-buy-in tips where the site wouldn't require a certain amount from them. With gold shows, if your buy in is $5, I would hope that the site would require the equivalent of 5 USD from the customer. If this isn't the case, someone needs to notify SM for sure.
^^ I would really hope that's the case! All the screens related to gold shows show a dollar sign (e.g. GOLD requested: $___; Minimum buy in: $___). On the other hand, all the manuals refer to giving and receiving GOLD, not dollars. Here's a couple quotes from the model's manual:
Quote:
Gold Shows are a great way to put on a show for a big group. Many members pitch in to try to reach the goal so the show can start. Each member must contribute a minimum amount of Gold to see the show.
I wonder if any ladies from outside the US could peek into a GS countdown and let us know if it's showing the amount converted into your currency?Quote:
Gold is worth different amounts depending on where the member is from. For example, 1 Gold from a US member is worth $1, but 1 Gold from a UK member is worth £1. You will be paid based on your earning % and the current exchange rate.
Is this currency thing only with gold or pvts and exclus also? I feel like if I ask for 5 gold then I should get my equivalent of 5 gold no matter where someone is from and the site should charge whatever they have to to get me my 5 gold. ughh are all these changes for the better or worse time will tell.
^This only applies to GOLD. Right now I'm not sure if only the GOLD you get tipped freely changes, or if GOLD for a GS also varies depending on currency. I'm 99% certain that whatever you are charging for your pvt and excl is what you will get. I assume everyone will see your rates listed in their currency. So if you charge $4.99/minute, a Brit would see you listed as charging 2.98 G.B.Pounds. Either way your cut will still be $1.75/min. I have had a few foreign custies recently, and my pvt and excl earnings were the same as with US custies.
I just checked my earnings from last night, and after selling an Austrailian (that's where he said he was from, anyway) guy a $25 US video, only $21.56 (SM's cut, my cut was 35% of that) showed up in my earnings. Huh?
im having an issue with the encoder the past few days when i try go live and i hit the green button it takes me like about 10 trys to get fully connected the encoder stops responding to windows and then ill have a wheel of death of my screen until the site gives up and cuts me off. rebooting doesnt help either.
another issue
either my viewers have had a major case of ADD since yesterday or something is wrong with my connection. When i get lucky enuf to get 3-4 ppl in my room eventually they all leave aside from the freeloader of the bunch. So I'm thinking my feed is getting shitty for a few seconds making them leave or its just a conqeuncidance they all have been leaving around the same time. I work classic chat so its not like anybody can see how many ppl are in my room then leave because everyone else is too. What should i be looking for when i watch the settings on my encoder and try to see what the issue could be?
yeah its still giving me issues
Ok so I have a issue and curious if this makes ssence to anyone or has anyone had experience with something like this: I am a goldshow girl and have been so for the past 3yrs. but the other night was kinda slow and decided to do a exclusive thinking it would just pass time. Well little known to me that the 2 exclusives I had done (I was rated 5 stars in both mind you) would affect my ratings I have been 5 star for 3yrs now after the 2 exclusives I am 4 star and on the 7th page. I am normally on first page 5th row always. I email support and she said that in order to get my 5 star back i need to do at least 3 more rated shows with 5 stars. Uggg this is a Major set back !
People would greet me and then leave right after I greeted them back? Is that weird SM customer culture thing or what? It's so odd that it makes me think my feed/audio is messing up and chasing them off. I'm going to have my beau drop in and let me know what he sees on his end. I finally sucked it up after all these years and decided I could deal with a 35% cut as a matter of getting more exposure and tapping into a different set of customers, but if the site is just going to glitch to all hell, it's gone back to not being worth it for me. :/ Time is money. Hell yeah to all the ladies making this work for them though!
That so normal lol , it is a customer thing.
Are you a entertainer converting over? This was a big issue for me. Its a lot of sites culture.
SM does have a lot of glitches.
Right now I am dealing w no alerts going into private and exiting, so watch your screens ladies.
They did fix it but its back
Oh no, I've been camming since 2009. I've just been indy for the last couple of years and going back to freechat seems like an entirely different hustle now (probably because I don't have the patience for it anymore, heh). I'm also on Chaturbate and I guess now that I think about it, the "Hi bb" "Hey *insert username*, how are you?" *user poofs* thing happens there too, but not back to back to back to back so I don't notice it. Guys getting off to making me acknowledge them for a split second...yep. It all makes sense now.
im streaming now and i just hit crtl alt delete to load up my task manager my cpu usage is high teens low 20s -25 max but i think i may have found the reason to my problems witch leads me to another issue tho :/
my bitrate KBPS is extremely erratic
my internet package has 100 down and 20 up speeds (MBPS)
and my stream has been jumping at 700-1000 kbps
but i saw drop down to like 200-500 kbps once
i dont know much about this kind of stuff so what does that all mean? that difference doesn't seem like a good thing to me and my stream has been freezing for a few seconds then restarting not as bad as before when i put the new ram in on Tuesday but still i think its freezing because its the KBPS - its too erratic and its trying to stabilize. i rent the router from the cable company so should i just buy my own and would that solve the issue and the KBPS more stable?
my processor is an i7 and i just put 8 gigs of ram in my comp on Tuesday if that matters .

Obv it doesnt take much LOL
when i right clicked my computer and selected properties on the drop down the window said that my processor is an intel core i7 2600k this was given to me by friend i met on cb who mailed it to my house so i dont know much about it i just put it in i know how to do that much lol
