I didn't realize when I posted but there's a thread about the event. Right here on SW. Its exactly what you said... For promo. But it appears that originally promo for existing studio accounts. The rest of us were an after thought?

I've had some slower days here and there, but overall it's business as usual for me. It's easy to get a skewed idea of how bad it is by reading the threads on here because most of us come here to vent, not brag. If it starts to get to you (it's happened to me many times before) then I'd take a break from this thread/vent threads/camming sucks/etc and focus on the positivity around here. There are tons of amazing, inspirational posts on this forum!
Agreed Scarlet. I've been doing pretty well since September, seen a general increase in traffic and shows (not all nights are awesome, but they never are). Sometimes I feel like things tend to skew towards the negative because if you do well you don't want to jinks it somehow.
KatyBoleyn's post are the one's you want to read if you want a more 'numbers-based' view on Streamate. She runs a DailyPay site and is generous enough to post what her numbers reflect about the site. She has been very positive that the site seems to wax and wane but there has been no alarming downward turns yet.
(At least that is what I think she is saying, KatyBoleyn I would never assume to speak for you so please correct me if my assumptions are wrong. :) )
^^^ Seconding this!! KatyBoleyn's posts are super informative and helpful. <3 <3 <3
I agree with Scarlett and Kitcat, few slow days or shifts as usual (thats NEVER out of the norm, some days are always better than others) but seems to be basically back to normal for me here too within the last 2-3 weeks. Focus, put in your time, positive vibes, the money is out there, less of a hassle between pvts to have a room filled up with 20-40 guys in freechat at once with over 50% of them waiting to see tits or ass for a tip or begging to see something for free (feels better this way anyways!), the spenders are still around.
Agreed with what the others are saying. My hourly averages are right where they should be for this time of year and my placement has been top 10-20 consistently for months. Glitches are at an SM-Standard Minimum (because, like, it's SM dudettes, and that glitch-fest shit happens on the reg; just gotta go with the flow) and I only had a few weird lags/disconnects/privates not connecting in the last week or so. Basically, money is good, site is preforming adequately, and I have few-to-no complaints. I can't speak for everyone, of course, but sometimes it's nice to hear that not everyone is having a rough go of it.
Katy does talk numbers very well. I'm in her studio and she and I have discussed the trends before. I'm an obsessed numbers watcher the same as she is, so we commiserate together whenever I'm having a rough day or four, lol. In regards to SM in particular, the formula for success that Katy has been told by the higher ups is cut and dry. It's a formula that I follow and can confirm works, as well as many other girls. It goes like this:
1) Hours online--if you're not doing 25-30 hours per week, your placement won't be as high as other girls. SM rates girls who have worked at least 90 hours in the last 30 days the highest. If you've worked 90 hours or more, you're getting the maximum placement boost from this.
2) Overall earnings and earnings per hour--this was discussed in another thread ('How much do you average per hour?' I think), but earnings really are the biggest overall factor in SM placement. The more you make per hour, the more highly you are rated. Girls in the top row of SM are making $60-$120/hour, period. Also important is how much girls might make per pay period. Audri and Scarlett were discussing this in particular in the thread I just mentioned, and while Scarlett has a higher average hourly rate, Audri has a higher take home check because she works more hours and is thus ranked slightly higher than Scarlett.
3) Regarding #1 & #2--you can work as many hours as you want, but if you aren't making money, you won't be placed as high as girls who are. You'll get the placement bonus for high hours, but the hustle is important too.
4) Equipment--are you using the encoder? Are you using the new HD720 settings (as that will soon give you a boost over girls using the Legacy settings that SM recently retired)? Are you using a high quality webcam? Is your internet connection fast enough to support HD streaming (roughly 2.5 mbps upload, consistently, or faster is the absolute minimum the encoder requires for HD720 settings)? Audio? Good lighting? All of these factor into placement. Higher placement = greater chance of customers seeing you and spending
5) Hustle--this is the most important aspect of earnings, hands down. You can have everything else, but if you aren't happy and enticing to customers then they won't spend. Confidence is key. Along with that is knowledge--you need to know what customers will ask for and have the supplies (toys, outfits, etc.) they are most likely to request. The more you can do, the more shows you're likely to get. The more enticing you are to customers, the more they spend. Happy, enticing, and prepared for all they can do = The Best Possible Hustle. Everyone has a different one, but those three elements have to be there.
Anyone who comes to the daily pay studio with SM is given a brand new account and you can either get all of your favorites transferred or have new model status again. I had to do it about a year ago when I switched to Katy's program and I was back to my normal placement again within 1-2 weeks by following the above formula.
I go into all that detail because when SM is slow for me, I can almost guarantee that I'm failing at one of the above factors in the formula. Not making much on my take home check? Oh, look, only worked 5 hours last week. Duh. Hours are normal but customers aren't spending? I've probably been in a bad mood getting online or been feeling down about myself or life in general. Those tend to be the biggest two issues for me personally--not working enough because I feel rough about cam/life/whatever, and then allowing that to seep into the time I do work, and then working less hours still, etc., etc., until I barely work at all and have to force myself out of my pity party.
Just a rambling thought thing. Feel free to disregard if it isn't helpful to you.
well i ran away from sm for two weeks!! I was having internet issues and among the glitches it was just too much stress. I came back tonight and did FANTASTIC!!! Internet is completely fixed and I used that new broadcaster. No problems at all!! avg 70 an hour. Glad I don't have to think about a new occupation.... I was starting to worry. I'm back in the game :D Woohoo!
all of this Issabelle, I'd kiss you right on the mouth right now. We all have shitty weeks and months, when others are banking. Just work through it. If you have a good solid broad base of regulars and you sell a good product, they WILL be back.
MissSeraphim...I'm not sure if you'll get this message response, as you had posted the message I'm replying to back in 2012. I have been on one site and one site only, for almost 6 years (imlive) and I'm finally getting ready to try other sites. I was just curious what sites you use. Trying out other sites is kinda scary for me but from what I've read on SW....it seems it is a smart choice to make financially. Thanks a bunch!
Does anyone know if SM will post the names of the Halloween contest winners? :-\If so, where? Their Twitter? Tumblr, etc?
Thanks in advance.
So I've been having a weird problem recently where I can't set my room topic? Like, the button is grayed out no matter what I do, whether or not I'm streaming. Not the end of the world, but I like having my tip menu up without having to continuously spam the room with my auto-message. Has anyone else had this issue or has any advice on how to fix it? I searched the threads a bit but had no luck.
No, not too many characters. Nothing out of the ordinary, since I never even change my room topic (always just a tip menu + what I do in prm/exc). Just won't allow me to set it.
Also i believe there is a max number of lines in there as well if you seperate the lines, believe its under 5 and under so many characters. Also does it allow you to clear your topic at all? I had this problem and had to clear out my cache and restart and it worked, it may not be the reason it worked but i had same issue and it just worked after i did that. If it keeps happening id contact support and explain what is happening hopefully it gets fixed i like the topic as well. Wishing you luck getting it fixed.
stupid question i always leave my topic blank lol, any fun examples that i should try??
What helped me was watching other models & reading topics to get a general idea. Coming up with your own description better because its random and not a copy/paste. It helped me writing down & printing my guides, topics, rules and having it in one binder in case I need to grab it to check something or get confused its there. I would give suggestions but, this is my second attempt at SM. I am mostly token base.
anyone get invited to sm's special event in vegas
So I can't figure out how to see what page Im ranked on when I press the view on striate button then the one that says similar cam models it just brings to me to page one do you have to just keep clicking through the pages and look for your self because I went like 30 pages back and I was just wondering if theres a easier way Im not aware of? Thank you ladies :)
