Depends how far back you're going, I've been on 4 years ish and I don't recall my cam prices being anything other than exactly what I've set, mind you I could be wrong too! I guess whatever's going to happen we will all be in the same boat but it doesn't seem like very long before the changes kick in so we do need proper clarification on this and what it means.
Here we go again. Now it looks like the only way you can get out of paying VAT on payouts is by being VAT registered. Last time, we just had to prove that we are a business or pay taxes or something like that. I'm sure the vast majority of people on this site don't make enough to be VAT registered. I find the idea of having to pay VAT on being paid absolutely fucking absurd.
I know we pay VAT on our pics & movies so does this mean reading it it is added to cam prices again like years ago? so add 20% to them also we get charged if we pay positioning it crazy why this has happened all of a sudden too what has changed is it beacuse of brexit ? x
so is this same as before susie when you helped fight to get it overturned if so why they doing it now changing it? x
I’m so worried about all of this rn
me too! when it happened before, it was so much harder! i remember guys saying about the random increase in price! i don't want to have to drop my rates!
Has the law on VAT changed?
Is there someone new dealing with this at AW who doesn't understand that we've already been through the VAT fiasco (they wrongly charged VAT on cam shows to start with and then had to take it off again).
They can't just go changing how VAT is dealt with by themselves...there are rules around the charging of VAT.
I feel like they would have said in the email if this effected the direct cam?? It doesn’t mention anything about the direct cam, only things like featuring costs and “site fees”.... I emailed adultwork but had no reply, has anyone else messaged them to clarify?
Exactly. It’s a random time to bring out a new VAT law and only give everyone only 5 days notice before they implement it?
I was wondering if a law changed when nobody was looking, or if it's something to do with Brexit?
this bit....
this definately means the prices of cam by customers will be changed to higher!
There are other activities on Site that are considered business-to-consumer where VAT will be levied on consumers. As with e-services today (e.g. movies and private galleries), this means VAT will be added to the prices you set and ultimately seen by your customers.
for example, if i set a movie price at 2 credits, the customers see it with the 20% added! the same will be from cam. that's how i am reading it anyway
It certainly looks like they've decided that camming is a B2C (business to consumer) and should be VAT'd.
Is anyone - with a much better VAT brain than mine - going to contact to ask or challenge?
Yep sorry guys, I wrote my post in the middle of the night. Having had another look it certainly seems they'll be adding vat to our service prices. We're no longer part of the EU so I'm not sure were covered by the not wholly automated rule anymore.
Yes it's the same. Prob cause we're no longer part of the EU. Someone would have to speak with HMRC and an accountant who is actually up on these matters. I gave up on talking to AW so it won't be me..
I'm just putting it out there that I won't be reducing prices because of this. We're a luxury. Guys need to see us as such. The ones who don't appreciate this, I don't want to see. These will be the guys who sees £1/1 credit as still too expensive and who wants a discount on top of that. I will be tweaking prices though, just so my OCD enjoys a nice round number displayed ;D
yes I went to helpdesk ie live chat said they cant say anything about the VAT have to contact helpdesk via the feedback form so I did they replied cant say anymore till the page will be on the site on NOV 1st so have to wait as I asked about the 20% vat thing as it reads charged when take our money also on our postioning and the guys will have to pay 20% more so alot for us & them to pay but have to wait annoyingly so.
Those who pay VAT will be charged but get it back when do accounts but if you join a group I assume the group manager has to pay it instead? as some in groups saying doesnt affect them? x
Thanks Suzie I thought it was today with brexit when I spoke to hubby about it and I have tried to get some info out of them but they wont give it till 1st NOV when it is implemented and then that page with info be on the site.
The only thing is then if it is ALL of us the guys will have to pay it to see anyone so not just some do some dont but with times hard with the COVID so may losing jobs hours cut it will make a difference but we are worth what we charge they must relise we pay it on everything pubs food etc now they have to on live sex too x
No fucking way, nor will I! I raised mine to £5/£7 the day before yest and made just under 400 in an hour so there's no reason on earth to imagine people won't pay.
Looks like this is because the UK leaves the EU vat scheme from December 2020.
I just found this notice from eBay https://tamebay.com/2020/09/ebay-sel...t-changes.html seems they, Etsy, and Amazon will all too be changing things. When this happened before we took a lot of lead from these platforms as they too are counted as a platform that providers use as a go-between, between the company (ie eBay) and the customer i.e. our end consumer. They are known as OMP'S (online market places).
From Jan 2021 responsibility for tax on digital goods moves from the provider (us) to the OMP (Adultwork). I've just done some reading and am not really any further forward than this. My questions this far are:
1. If changes don't go into effect (and UK already said there's a leeway of up until July 2021), why are AW implementing this now?
2. What are they basing this on, UK tax (which no one knows wtf is going on there yet) or EU?
3. Why are they implementing a flat rate 20% when online digital goods are currently subject to between 2 -5% in EU countries.
3. Will being VAT reg mean vat won't be added to our prices?
Forgive the stream of consciousness! I'm looking into this and posting as I come across stuff.
VAT is an EU tax...if anything, it should do altogether.
I think someone new has looked into this and made a mistake.
I hope so, but I'm not sure. You see Clips4Sale and other clip sites now add VAT to the total the customer pays (doesn't seem to add VAT to the % they take for admin though) and it applies to the UK too. Unless they've all got it wrong, OR it's all going to change again once we've officially left in Jan.
I said I didn't have a VAT brain LOL. If I am ever earning types of amounts where I have to pay VAT, I will be sure to employ a good accountant! ;D
Yes on Onlyfans the guys since I think september pay 20% on signups and when they tip us so if our fee is $4 they get charged 20% extra we just see the $4 also on tip they tip $100 they pay that plus 20% but to us we just see a $100 tip but on AW it is the 20% the guys pay to cam with us obviously that is them paying for that but we still get the normal rate but then it is us paying when we withdraw so on the admin fee ok I can understand that but why also it says on positioning & the facility fee surely the facility fee is included in the admin charge? x
