Not a recurring dream but a recurring theme. For some reason there is always something about trains in my dreams. Watching it, on it, in it, waiting for it, steam, electric, diesel, kiddies joyride train, toy train, railway line, crossing, train station. I've even dreamt of enormous freight trains on Mars and me hitching a ride in a space suit.It often isn't the focus of my dream, just a train, a train crossing or train line in there somewhere.
I don't have any previous memories good bad or otherwise about trains. No one I know is into trains or, I don't do train spotting, neither like nor dislike them. They have no significance to me so I'm completely baffled as to why there is always something train-ified in my dreams.
Grimace, several of them - from the old McDonald movies - as a purple people eater, eating me alive in my dreams; my family and friends watching and laughing.....
Been having reoccurring dreams about that since I was about 3.
He scared the ever living piss outta me. Still does.

Had dreams about my brother for years after he died (young at 23 when I was 19), and I still do sometimes but more rarely all the time. It was always a big surprise, like 'What are you doing here you are supposed to be..." Then he explains it was all a big mistake, etc. Ends in various ways, at first bad a lot when I realized it had to be wrong--like he was dying all over which sucked. Now it is mellow and sort of cool.
I dreamed of my last cat that was exclusively mine for years after I lost her, they were always nightmares because she got away into this huge dense wooded lot and I couldn't get her back out because she was so shy and spooked easy in situations like that. There were a zillion wild cats and I'm sure they were also terrorizing her. One night I think she tried to come to me and another cat scared her. :'( I finally gave up after going there every night for two weeks. She was very old and died there I know. So in the dreams she was always weak and dying and I was very upset every time, sometimes would wake up yelling and upset.
Then I saved this poor old cat a couple years ago, that was blind and needed teeth pulled and was starving, and even though the woman I gave him to lost him (I can't have cats), it took care of the unresolved pain that was bringing on the dream.
I have dreams about getting married a lot - but I never go through with it. I'm always walking down the aisle or about to and I freak out. Sometimes I run away, sometimes I just say I can't do it and start crying, and everybody always gets really mad at me and chases me down - either way, I've never actually gotten married in any of my dreams about it lol I have no idea what this theme is. Maybe I have it when I'm close to committing to something and am unsure?
Another big one is the end of the world. The world is always ending but nobody really seems that concerned with it. In one, a giant disco ball appeared out of the sky and the few people left on earth all started dancing to "It's the End of the World" by REM. Still one of my favorite dreams because that is awesome.
I also have dreams about losing control of my car horribly. I spin completely out of control and am going really really fast and the shit that I keep crashing into just never ends. Perhaps another "scared of losing control" dream?
The past 3 nights in a row I've had really vivid dreams about sex or masturbating. I mean, I'm used to sex dreams every once in awhile but, christ, every night? Maybe I'm horny? lol
Aurora that dream sounds awesome. I love that song (and REM). I also have a lot of sex dreams myself.
My most common dreams that I've been having since I was little are drive in theatres. I'd dream all sorts of things, from dreaming of theatres that never existed, to being at ones that did but long gone, to even seeing one at a weird place (a forest, in the middle of the lake, etc). I've dreamt that I saw them tearing down the screens (in one dream I saw them throw a screen across a field), that I saw them building one and and even watching movies at various ones. I suspect these dreams symbolize my childhood because every summer almost every weekend we went to one. I also suspect the drive in symbolizes "screening out" things, maybe repressed memories.
Not as common but I sometimes I have dreams about famous celebrities. I've dreamt I met several royal people, and even married one. I dreamt about celebs I really did meet but with a different outcome. I never met U2 but I dreamt I did and none of the members could speak English and had a translator. I woke up thinking this was bizarre because all of them do speak English (and I'm not sure if any of them speak another language). I actually googled this because it was so lifelike.
I've had dreams about deceased relatives but the most real like was that I dreamt I was in Heaven and talking to a deceased relative. He was telling me things would be fine in my life soon. Speaking of life like, the very night I spoke to my last guy after 10 years apart I dreamt we got married. I could see my dress and in the dream my cousin brought over donuts and a family friend was giving me marriage advice. I had never had a wedding dream before, except with celebs. Also, when I was with him I dreamt several times I was giving birth. In one case I dreamt the birthing suite of a particular hospital, looked it it and it was identical! Another time I dreamt I was going in the room to give birth but couldn't find him. I'm crying for him and finally right bfore I went in he appeared to hold my hand.
Great thread!! I keep having this dream where I'm searching through a giant pile of umbrellas for something (I don't know what), and Ryan Reynolds pops out of the pile. And that's it.

I frequently dream of my childhood home, a large 19th century Victorian house on the outskirts of a small town. During the tornado season we would huddle under the staircase in the basement when there were tornado warnings, which was near a round kind of well with a pipe down the center. My brother would push me close to it and it scarred the crap out of me, and he also locked me in the basement a few times which was terrifying because it was more like a crypt. In my dreams I'm either falling down that damn well or trapped in the basement which has multiple maze like levels that I can't find my way out of.
During the summer there were also frequent thunderstorms and my room had large double pane winders on three sides with huge cottonwood trees outside that would make shadows like monsters and tentacles coming at me. I sometimes have dreams similar to that too. Isn't it weird how thing that happened to you as a kid stay imprinted in your memory for so long?
Guess I also often have dreams where I'm in my car on or my bike, the throttle gets stuck open (or I somehow keep going faster), the brakes don't work, then I hit something and wake up.
Wish my dreams were a little more pleasant like some of yours :D
I have 4 re-occurring dreams. Although its not always the exact same, the theme is.
Also, my brain is quiet fascinating {to me at least} when it comes to dreams. I could actually draw these places that are in my dreams cause there insanely vivid. These places i've never seen in real life. I know every road and every place though and can tell the theme as soon as i'm there. Its creepy to be honest.
Ok...reoccurring...
1) I'm somehow part of a dance performance but i have no clue on what the dance is.
Its always the same stage. I haven't had this one as much lately.
2) I'm pregnant, know its a boy and can physically see it kicking in my stomach. I'm excited about it.
3) I'm in school. I either can't my locker, my class or where i should be.
4) End of World. I HATE these dreams and i literally wake up emotional distraught.
Those are the themed ones that are quiet common.
Its mainly the places that are always reoccurring.
I can describe them in great detail and they all inter-are.
