Every time you go out to eat and charge something to your card its an opportunity for someone to swipe your info. Its why you should always go over your bank statements & credit card bills (good thing you did) Then tell them its a fraudulent charge and it should be removed. My bank is awesome about that kind of thing. Good luck
I've wondered about that too. Isn't the information only used for depositing though?
I had thought you could only put money into an account with routing/acct # and if you were going to take money out you would need to actually have your visa/mc debit card number and the correct expiration date, which would never be given to a cam site.
Does anyone know for sure if an account can have money withdrawn by a thief with only knowing acct/routing#?
it could if they paid with an electronic check - some sites allow that and all you need is the routing and acct #, i think. possibly the address as well, i can't remember.
it's highly unlikely for a site to use it that way, since whenever you swipe your card in ATM, Point of purchase you card is being exposed.
