introducing myself & a question :)
hi! i'm tessa, 19. i'm very interested in camming & i'm soooo happy i found this forum. just about everything i had questions about i've found answers to! :) i haven't started camming yet cuz i'm pretty nervous about it. i'm shy but i have done the whole cam sex thing a few times (for free ha :/) & i enjoyed it. but it was always hard for me to step out of my comfort zone like that. should i just take the plunge & see if i like it? so any advice on what to do to not be so nervous about starting? if you were shy when you first started, how did you overcome it? is starting really the hardest part & its not so bad after that? does the prospect of money make it easier & i just need to change the way i see it as a positive thing, not a nerve wracking thing? i searched but didn't find exactly what i was looking for. thank you so much if you have any ideas, i love this forum to death!

Welcome :)
Have you ever done something like this before (stripping, etc) and are you outgoing by nature?
Re: introducing myself & a question :)
thanks :) i haven't done anything like this before. i'm pretty shy but once i relax, i'm outgoing. so i just wanted to see if there were ways to relax that you guys found useful.
Re: introducing myself & a question :)
Hmmm, well I'm kind of a social butterfly already, and I stripped prior to this so I found the transition to be pretty easy.
Mostly, just be confident. It doesn't matter your age or look--there is a guy for every girl. A million different fetishes and interests for every man looking for the right cam girl.
It will probably be a culture shock for you at first, because the guys get pretty foul mouthed and, well, dirty. But I just play on that and use it to my advantage.
The most important thing to remember is, focus on the money. If you can remember that you are doing this to make the most amount of money in the least amount of time, it provides the right fuel for the fire to succeed.
It's easy to get burn out doing this, but when a guy throws $200 in a single tip at you because you smiled at the camera, it makes it all a lot easier. LOL

First of all, welcome!
As to your question, answers will differ as many times as there are girls working on cam. In my case, I started out camming because I had a pretty bad financial hardship one month... my husband's medical insurance got cut off and we had to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket for it - we actually went hungry because my writing job wasn't pulling enough for all the extra bills. But this is where fate jumped in - one of my writing jobs was to make a technical FAQ for a streamates white label - and as I wrote it I thought... damn... could be feeding the family if I just manage to deal with what was to me, a pretty hard thing to do. The first time was hard and I needed a drink... its still hard to restart if I take a break, though I usually do well enough and haven't had any wrecking experiences.
But if you keep in mind you're getting a lot of money from a very safe job, you know you're being savvy and good to yourself in the end. That's what keeps me going. Also, I remember how much abuse I got at regular, less well paying jobs and glee at how much cash I get now for being leered at and feeling sexy. I think my outlook would be far more positive if I hadn't started working on it out of pure need, but that outlook looks better by the hour as I move towards my goals. ^^ It just no longer feels embarrassing. I used to give myself guilt trips over how "wrong" it felt to do this when married but I know its damn right to do what I can to make both our lives better.
Deep down, I think the most important thing i your mental strength as you'll hear a lot of "opinions" on how dumb you are for doing it, and how degrading it is... well, that's just not true - you're the one getting paid to pleasure yourself - if that's not genius I don't know what is ;)

awesome reply, thank you! i'm glad i'm not the only one who finds it hard at first. i know i'll probably make excuses to delay getting on cam every day when i do start haha. but this gave me a few things to think about. i used to be a preschool teacher & hated it & got paid next to nothing. hey it can only go up from there :P
Re: introducing myself & a question :)
the best advice I could give is start at the bottom and slowly work your way up in regards to your boundaries. for example I know this one girl who was able to get a four figure paycheck (back in 2005) without even taking her bra off, she just didn't want to lol (of course that was a dfferent time financially and she did get the occasional chargeback every now and then)
it's best to take your time, "listen to your inner voice" and don't let them pressure you
I'm still strugling with the feeling that I am underselling myself every day lol

Thanks Sybil awesome reply :)

Re: introducing myself & a question :)
Welcome! I was really nervous at first too! It took a good couple of weeks to relax. Know your limits before you start and get ready for the guys to ask for all sorts of crazy stuff. Most of all, stay in control of your room and you will do fine! When you are new, they try to get you to do all sorts of stuff.
1) Make sure they tip first before you show anything....they can get really bossy and leave you penniless, especially the foot fetish guys..feet = pussy to them!
2) Don't let them sex chat you up too much for free. Many try to get off that way without paying a dime!
3) Never pre-dress for them before a show only to find out that once they see you in that outfit in your private, they bust and are gone 2 min later. If they have special requests like that, you tell them you can change quickly off cam while they talk about how they want the session to go.
Re: introducing myself & a question :)
Hi tessa, best advice I was ever given was never go past your real life boundaries, just not worth it, that way too you'll enjoy yourself xxxx

thanks, i will try to remember to not get pressured. i'm thinking camming could help me with saying no cause i tend to be a pushover at times. getting used to saying no to stuff i don't want to do is good practice for other jobs & relationships. practice makes perfect ;)

this is awesome advice, ty! :) i'll remember that feet=pussy, haha. never thought of it that way but it makes sense from a fetish viewpoint.

i will try to stick to that. i'm pretty adventurous in real life but i don't like extreme fetishes or humiliation, just doesn't gel with my personality. i'm sure i'll enjoy things i would do in my personal life :) thanks!
