I tell them I will be receiving mail under my business names. Then as my 'business' names I list out cam names. If they ask any further questions, I say I buy and sell items on eBay. You could always just say your cam name is your eBay id, and keep it simple.

Never.
does the extra pair of shoes and the extra $50 gift card worth your life?
Why do you feel eGift Cards aren't safe? All they are getting is your email address. I have created a wishlist strictly for reference (no address attached, so they can't buy anything from it), and if they want to get something from the list I request that they send me a eCard for the amount.

Also, it is much easier to find out exactly who someone is through their IP.
Your "name" (fictitious or not) as well as your city state is revealed in the info in your public profile there. You could send packages to Minnie Mouse for all Amazon cares and it doesnt matter as long as the shipping address you have on file with them is valid. If youre concerned with a valid breach in your personal security (like them revealing ALL of your info to someone after you specifically chose an item non 3rd party) double check their TOS & contact them immediately and demand an answer as to why this happened to you.
UPS wouldn't have an issue if they released the information. There isn't a sticker Amazon can put on the box that says "Don't give anyone the recipients address!". UPS is not at all connected to amazons confidentiality options. I'm a little concerned that you don't realize how obsessed a fan can become. We should take every precaution possible to avoid a fan getting their hands on information that could lead them to us. Yes, you are correct that someone can look up your IP address, but I pretty sure most cam sites protect your IP.

The sky is not falling and pretty please dont worry yourself over my safety. If one is so concerned with the possibility of a stalker then by all means never walk out the front door. Please do not be so naive to think that someone with bad intentions could not EASILY trace you just by your innocent postings here. Last I checked cam isnt broadcast over secure connections nor were the sign up pages with our real info that we used to sign up with any of these cam services. Now thats something to be afraid of.
The thought of a cyber crazy (who is alot more tech savvy than I) stealing my identity terrifies me. The thought of some random whacko showing up on my doorstep, not so much. I'm almost 6ft tall and an excellent shot ;)
But I'm new and you all dont know me so I'm gonna go back to knowing nothing about nothing now.

Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
getting amazon e-gift cards helps - then, to roughly quote arialande - you end up with 5 boxes of quinoa - but only your email address is revealed
thanks for posting this though, not enough girls know

The name I use, that Ive always used, is my middle name...which is on my ID. The last name I use is a total bastardization of my last name... When I had a UPS box, I told the counter that people always mess up the spelling of my last name and spell it xyz instead of the proper spelling...he made a notation on my paperwork that I might get mail with that spelling and I was good to go.
Way back when I first started..I used a completely different name, and told the office that it was my married name, but was divorced and some people hadnt changed their records yet...same thing, they just noted it on my card that anything from that last name is also for me.
Simple.
As for PO Boxes..thats great except that they dont accept FedEx/USP shipments....which is the shipment method of choice both for Amazon and most online stores because of its ease with tracking...even though USPS also has tracking. Go figure...all the same...when you get a PO Box, you limit major shops from being able to ship to you, and pretty much can just get fan mail or packages that guys send you directly.

Dont get defensive, everyone is welcomed to share here! You got your head on right, and if you know how to protect youtself then you will be fine.

Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
1) I get my packages sent to my parent's place a lot. I have a Dad and 2 brothers, and they all shoot just fine. (I'd feel sorry for the guy that showed up there looking for me. Our house cat alone would eat him alive.)
2) I get the packages sent there because I move almost every 6 months. Sometimes out of state. (Again, if a guy was trying to stalk me, he'd have an interesting time of things.)
3) I don't ever live alone (sadly) and I own a shot gun and go to the range on a regular basis. (I also publicize this on my site.)
So someone having my fictitious name and city really doesn't mean crap to me.

Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
Stuff like this is what private mailboxes are for. I NEVER put my real address on anything online. Period. It is too easy for that shit to be found, regardless of how private you might think you are.
Never use your home address on anything online. Just don't. Use PRIVATE MAILBOXES, not PO boxes. PO boxes from the post office are basically useless. Private mailboxes, on the other hand, are worth their weight in platinum, especially for people like us. They give you a physical street address, can accept ALL packages and shipments, and can be used in place of your home address for pretty much everything. Privacy protection.
I also use my "stagename" initials for my shipping address, so if/when buyers do see my info, they don't see anything personal. The mailbox also isn't exactly in my neighborhood so even if some loon staked out my mailbox for a couple weeks until I finally showed up and followed me, he'd be hard-pressed to follow me home without my notice. I also go on other errands between mailbox and home so it's even less likely.
I listed my "stagename" initials as my alternate ID / business name that is allowed to receive packages at my mailbox. No problem. My mailbox store is independent, owned/run by an older guy who doesn't care about my packages or what name I use as long as I pay my fees and don't let the packages build up too much. LOL! Independent mailbox stores are FAR less likely to be all anal about receiving packages under a different name ;)
Furthermore, I won't use my personal email with anything biz-related, or vice-versa. I have separate emails / names for everything and I keep it that way. I don't even let people in my personal life tweet me if they use their real names because all that shit gets linked and is trackable. Yall would probably be shocked how much of your personal info is available online if you aren't SUPER careful.
I may be a little over-cautious but weirdos don't get my personal info ;)

Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
I use it all the time - I am anonymous and NO one knows who I am. Besides - it's called use someone else's address. :) If you are always home - just walk next door and get it..LOL
-
Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
^I wouldn't want some potential psycho stalker getting my neighbor's address either. That's way too close to home and too easy for someone to figure out. I'll keep spending the $120/yr for my private mailbox, because it gives me a shitload more than just a place to receive wishlist items :)

THIS.
My birthday is next week, and I've been telling guys that I'd be happy to receive tips and/or e-gift cards to Target/Walmart/Amazon. I stopped messing with the Amazon wish list, because my real info kept showing up, even after I had changed it and SAVED the info. Too creepy/scary for me, so I deleted it and said "E-gift cards and tips only."
Also, just because a guy has lots of money to spend on you doesn't mean he won't stalk your ass. Sometimes it's the guys with money who feel like they're entitled to have your REAL info. ::)
Just be careful, please.

i have a po box that is listed for my stage name. all gifts go here as well as any fan mail. the post office employees never ask for id. they just want the slip from inside the po box with your notice to pick up the package. you can also list yourself as able to pick up mail when you establish the po box. you can also list other people able to pick up your stuff for you in case you don't make it to the PO often. remember to check your mail every 2 weeks. the post office only holds packages for 2 weeks, then it returns to the sender.

Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
I don't see the point of a wishlist anymore. It's not worth risking your safety for 500 pairs of shoes and 50 million types of sex toys. I'd rather work hard, hustle and buy the things myself.
-
Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
^^^I pretty much agree with you. I'm not so concerned about my safety, P.O. Boxes are easy to get, it's more that there's not alot of ish I really want or need. I'm too much of a control freak to get much enjoyment out of amazon g.c.'s (but I'm sooooo not knocking anyone who does-if I actually liked shopping then g.c.'s would be awesome). I simply prefer to save my $$$$ rather than buy things for the sake of doing so.
I own like 5 pairs of shoes, which is three pairs too many most of the time...clothes, meh. If a guy wants to give me a gift, he can act like a chill, fun person while we're together, and send me a random tip every now n then to brighten my day. Alot of guys seem to actually understand that:)

Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
I grew up with the mentality to work hard and treat myself. I like the satisfaction I get from my own paycheck. So I treat myself :)
I'm definitely taking my wishlist off MFC.

Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
Last year I took over 8k in gift cards .... On top of my cam earnings :P If a stalker wants to turn up at my door, I really have no problem with that , stranger things have happened .... and I'd like to see him try ! I live in an area which disturbs the mail man from coming to the door, let alone some sad internet stalker... He would not last 5 minutes, and then he would NEVER do it again :-) ... Anyone for tea? :)

amazon says your info is confidential but the buyer CAN track down the package by calling UPS because after all, they ARE the buyer. UPS cannot say, "im sorry sir but I cant tell you where the package YOU purchased is going to."
if the guy is crazy enough, he can dig and def can get your info.
i just made my list prvt thanks to this.
didnt even think about package tracking

I'm good with egift cards, for those guys who are just dying to buy me something. I have a wishlist strictly so I can remember what I want to buy, lol.

Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
I just use chipin for whatever I'm looking to get. Or they can email me an egift card for something specific

Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
La La La....
I am just not that paranoid. My safety rules I have put in place and even if my e-mail address is found out (it's fake anyways) it makes no difference to me. As far as gift cards online goes, use those.
I've been doing business forever with Amazon - had zero problem with customers or anything else. I just use my head to what's safe and what isn't. Also - I use fake information and get all my packages and what not completely fine. I have a tendency to believe, in my opinion, if you are overly paranoid - the more risk you have at becoming put out in the open. If guys know you are determined to keep yourself squared off - more likely I have seen those guys try to get nasty with the information.
Above all else - common sense should tell you female gut wise who is good to deal with and who isn't... If you're going to put yourself at risk for that online gift card or whatever funds you are after, you need to re-evaluate your position. Common sense isn't that hard to know who is a stalker and who isn't...and more so - how to keep your customers in line.
Just my opinion though and what works for me....of course I am sure that others are going to disagree.
As you were ladies...:) xoxox

Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
I got fucked over by a customer today. He purchased a item on the wishlist and ended up canceling it. I'm so pissed off I wanna cut is little dick off. My question is how do you deal with dick heads like him when they return to your camming page? I have deleted my amazon wishlist and honestly don't want anything to do with it anymore.
-
Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
I'm not sure why it would bother you that much? I mean, I know it's disappointing, but most of us know that they do that all the time. I thank customers for gifts when they ARRIVE, not when they're ordered. And if a guy cancels a gift, I would probably ban him from my cam room, if he can't provide a reasonable explanation. There really aren't many reasons for them to do it though. No reason to cancel your wishlist. Just assume that ALL orders will be canceled until proven otherwise (by having the gift IN your hands).

Re: Amazon Wishlist - DON'T USE!!
http://www.mailboxforwarding.com/index.php
If your worried about just use the forward mail service above. They give you an address and ur packages and letters go there and u can have it sent to your proper home address or just have them trash it. Its cheaper the a pobox and the person will never know what state or location you live at.
