State Laws Regarding Strippers
Do any of you guys know of a way to go about finding state-specific guidelines for stripping? Google isn't really yielding much helpful info, so thought maybe someone here will be able to point me in the right direction!
*Edit ---> And I mean in general! Not just for one state, thanks.
Re: State Laws Regarding Strippers
unfortunately, other than applicable provisions of state prostitution laws as well as applicable provisions of state alcohol laws, most laws binding on strip clubs stem from individual cities and counties. As such, you probably won't find much posted online.
Re: State Laws Regarding Strippers
You can read up on different state laws at this site (link below - you'll have to do some serious digging), but like others have said, from what I've learned so far (and I haven't learned much) is that it seems each City has it's own code and will interpret the state statutes pertaining to erotic entertainment as they see fit. The easiest is probably to contact your local City Clerk and ask if there's a copy of the City Code for adult entertainers they can provide you with.

Re: State Laws Regarding Strippers
Basically, if a cop wants to bust you he's going to bust you for whatever charge you wants -- bogus or otherwise.
So, what you can do to protect yourself and limit your risk of this is:
- Don't provide extras or get "down and dirty" during lap dances
- Avoid dancing in run down clubs in bad areas that are known for raids
- Avoid dancing at clubs with known prostitution, drug dealing, or tax evasion is taking place
You can go to the county clerk's office and ask for a copy of the prostitution laws. Every state has prostitution laws as well. So, if 'lewd' conduct in your state is defined as 'touching of the breasts, buttocks, etc' then it is illegal and therefore prostitution to let a customer touch your boobs or butt during a lap dance anywhere in that state. Michigan has a law like that.

Thank you ladies! Heading to the local county clerk office sounds like my best bet; thanks again :)

Also, check for regulations regarding bottoms and/or tops. Some cities/counties will require different types of bottoms and/or tops.
