Re: Feeling embarrassed??
Yes, everyone has the jitters their first time. I would suggest you not drink until you're comfortable with the job though.
Practice in front of the mirror at home. Watch some youtube videos of floorwork. Always remember to point your toes when doing any kind of floorwork!
You do tend to get in some sort of routine when onstage. There's only so many things you can do up there. Just be confident: Make eye contact, smile at everyone, and just enjoy yourself! I'd like to suggest going to the Hustle Hut section of SW and just reading until your eyes bleed ;)
Re: Feeling embarrassed??
Remember to dance slowly! When you're nervous, your sub-conscious will make you wanna dance fast, like a goober on drugs (since you sound like you are new and have little dance skill...for now :) ) in hopes that your set will end faster. Go slow, feel the music, and point those toes! Stay away from alcohol for a while. Lastly,Don't forget to SMILE ;D
Re: Feeling embarrassed??
You'll get over it. I can't say I felt the same during my first dance, but I was sober. I was so nervous at first I thought the custies could surely see my legs shaking... but just a moment later I listened to the music and really enjoyed myself. It was the best set I ever did, at least to me. If I've ever felt free it was during those five minutes.
I think you should try to avoid getting tipsy or drunk, also. Youtube taught me almost everything I know both on the pole and floor work. If you want to learn more pole tricks I suggest buying your own pole (x-pole) and learning from youtube. It costs about the same as a couple weeks worth of pole dancing classes and pole dancing classes aren't the same as the dancing in a club, IMO.
Good luck!

However...guys were very nice. They dont have a tipping requirement..and one dude was like "ugh i just got here"...I think he was lying but whatever. So yea. Any one deal with these embarressed feelings while your dancing? how do you get over them? Do they go away....i hope? They offered me a job and my friend is going to dance there, so I think I am going to start next week. I need to find a way to get over these jitters though
Trust me nobody gave a shit. They liked you
Re: Feeling embarrassed??
Most of the time no one cares when you are dancing.
Some girls will watch new girls and laugh, but it's just because we all used to be there. You will get better and soon no one will be able to tell you apart from the veteran dancers on stage.
In my experience customers are oblivious to whether or not a dancer is new or not, unless they are regulars.
The end all be all is that the dancers don't decide how much money you make, it only matters if the customers like you.
