OK enough with the POLITICS!
Just got a PM from a really cool member who is leaving SW because she is tired of all the divisive political crap going on here in the Lounge.
It's not worth it, people.
None of these fucking politicians care what a bunch of strippers and stripclub customers think anyway.
So can it with the political threads. I'm going to start deleting them entirely.

Re: OK enough with the POLITICS!
Obamarama?
kidding. i agree with this. nothing is ever going to be resolved by arguing with people who are already stuck in their opinion via a stripper forum.
wondering which member left? Come back! there are still members on here who discuss things that are much cooler than politics! Like boobs! thats something we can all agree on!
-
Re: OK enough with the POLITICS!
Boobs? Guess where there are more boobs than in a strip club? In politics. Seriously though people really don't change their views, like anything. Politics isn't the only divisive topic. I moderated a Chicago (as in the city, not the movie or the band)board and the amount of flaming over Cubs vs Sox was as bad as politics. I've posted at quite a few music boards where people flame over the groups. One music message board was closed because the online flaming ended up becoming offline stalking.

Re: OK enough with the POLITICS!
Why can't we have a politics subforum? The Dollar Den is full of political bickering but there must be an economic element to each thread or it gets deleted/moved. So why not just make another subforum, maybe a subforum of the Dollar Den?

Re: OK enough with the POLITICS!
We don't need to whine to the mods everytime someone offends us.
[Djoser edit--thanks sammii, but I deleted the post above this, so I edited it just a little. I do appreciate what you said!]

There used to be one and it blew up so it was closed.

that is such a good idea!!
i would love for there to be a political subforum. im not much for getting into heated discussions over politics but i do enjoy reading these type of threads and learning what i can from it.

Re: OK enough with the POLITICS!
I also think a politics subforum would be a great idea, moving things from the lounge to the games forum just polutes a different forum from it's intended purpose.
-
Re: OK enough with the POLITICS!
Every political thread I've seen ends in a ridiculous amount of name-calling and the same people sharing their same views over and fucking over again. I already know what the majority of posters are going to say because they've said it 1000x before. If you have such a burning desire to debate politics, go find an actual forum just for that.
-
Re: OK enough with the POLITICS!
Stereotyping and making ppl feel like shit by down talking their race to make a political point is not cool. Lets not forget to respect one another even if we share different views.
People shouldn't feel uncomfortable being around here bc of certain posts. I don't like that. We are here to let loose and support one another. I don't think we should have political sub forum. It's not what the site is intended for. Just my two centavos.

For better or worse, this indeed seems to be the case !

Trust me, life was much simpler as DD moderator in past years. And indeed the question has come up more than once whether threads with any sort of 'political' content should be allowed at all in DD.
The decision was made that, since gov't policy in regard to tax rates, QE / dollar devaluation, green energy, national health insurance, etc. all involve MAJOR economic consequences, that outright rejecting discussion of such topics due to their gov't policy content would be a dis-service to dancers and other DD readers who are trying to formulate future financial plans / investment decisions. However, a minimum requirement was established that at least 51% of any such discussions must be based on 'hard' economic / financial content - given that Dollar Den's intended focus is economic / financial.

Absolutely true ... all they want is the tax revenues we provide ... hopefully keeping as 'invisible' of a public profile as possible while doing so.

Exactly. All it ever does is cause trouble. That's why there aren't supposed to be any Political posts whatsoever. Thank you Lilykane!
Moving them to the Games section (while it might not be the ideal, or strictly speaking, correct move) seems to help limit the vitriol to that area and the people bickering. But sometimes I'm too busy to catch them before a lot of damage has been done. Like the past couple weeks, I've been totally occupied with starting a new website, and haven't had time to do much of anything else. That's when we lost the member over this kind of shit.

I just posted this... but same... i do well no matter who is president :)

Re: OK enough with the POLITICS!
Over the years political threads have moved around the board. First they clogged up our Lounge. Next they were moved to their own doomed sub-forum. From their they sprung up in Dollar Den under the guise of financial advice. Lately they've been showing up in the Lounge again.
Political threads have only served to divide our members and cause unrest. For that reason, from now on, they will ONLY be allowed in member ran Social Groups. If you want to talk politics, you can create a social group here or go to another forum where political discussion is welcome.
Any political threads posted outside of a Social Group will be deleted and the starter pointed or banned (based on existing infractions).
I've also personally asked our moderators to avoid posting political topics in the future.
Thank you!

I agree. I used to mod a forum for a rock band and the drama there was thousand times worse. It was a spinoff from the group's main message board and the drama there was so bad it became offline drama because people would meet each other offline and continue the online drama.

Does this include the dollar den too or can they still be posted there as long as they vaguely relate to money?
-
Re: OK enough with the POLITICS!
Dollar Den is for MONEY issues not political issues. So no you can't have a thread about politics with a "p.s. I found a nickle today thrown in". It should be money threads that vaguely refer to politics. Not political threads that vaguely refer to money. Dollar Den. Not Politics Pen.

Yeah, I have to agree with this. I stopped going to Dollar Den ages ago when I got sick of every other thread being, "IT'S OBAMA'S FAULT!" I mean, I could tie my dog getting a cold or my car breaking down to politics if I tried hard enough, but I don't.

I'd really prefer to have all of the straight politics threads removed and the semi politxs threads moved to a subsection if DD so then the main DD would just be threads for people like me who don't know how to do taxes. :P

Re: OK enough with the POLITICS!
Definitely politically free discussion is the way to go. It always breaks down into us-against-them heated arguments. Threads are all about "Isn't my guy great" or "Isn't the other guy a moron". There's about 192798172397 other forums out there where they only talk about politics. Those are much better places to have those discussions.
The only political discussions that could possibly belong here are those which would affect dancers and customers because it is somehow related to the stripping industry. So talking about a city council who wants to ban lapdances is relevant. Talking about Obama isn't because there's nothing uniquely stripper related about his politics.

In a market economic system (or LACK thereof, in this bailout crazy world), politics DO play a role in money and how people earn and/or keep their money:

not to be rude but why doesn't that "cool memeber" just ignore the posts, was she involved in it and didn't like that someone wasn't agreeing with her views? i mean really dj who cares, sounds to me like she wants attention: " im leaving over politics" sounds like a big baby to me
