Where can I find an adult performer contract for working with a production company?
Hi Everyone
I have two porn offers with one of the companies being highly reputable and another company being somewhat unknown. I am not at all worried about the first company (Sensational Video) however, the second company (Coldwater Productions, of Northridge Ca) makes me think twice. He has already asked me to call a # to find an STD testing site and said I would be reimbursedfor testing fees ($110) which I have researched to find that this is an upfront cost and should be paid by the production company upfront. He wants me to shoot this weekend, has been extremely vague with the pay ($500 or $600 in his words) after I said I wanted $600 for a 6 hour shoot plus $100 for traveling costs; total cost of job being $700.
Just to be clear, I know the second company is sketchy and I am NOT doing anything without a written contract. Question is, where do I get one of these contracts from? Does anyone have a sample contract they can email to me? [email protected]
Secondly, for those of you who have done porn independently before, what is your recommended form of payment? Cash, check, cashiers check, money order, etc? Do you ask for payment before shoot, upon arriving at the shoot, after the shoot, etc?
Help help help
Loves Holly
PS ANY ADDITIONAL INFO TO BE AWARE OF WOULD BE EXTREMELY HELPFUL
THANK YOU LADIES
Re: Where can I find an adult performer contract for working with a production compan
Hey, MrsHollyDDD!
I retired from performing in adult films in 2007 (80+ films), so I'm sure quite a bit has changed. But I'll just tell you what I know, STD testing is always paid for by the performer. I have never heard of a production company reimbursting the cost of STD testing. If they have made you that offer, that is very generous for a porn company.
Then again if you're doing a sex scene for $500 or $600, you're saving them some money so they can afford to cover your test.
I don't believe scene rates have changed much. Neither has taking advantage of new talent by under paying them.
Here are the industry standards for scene rates:
Blowjob (no penetration) = $200 - $300
Girl/Girl = $500
Girl/Girl Anal = $500 - $600
Boy/Girl = $700-$1,000
Boy/Girl Anal = $800 - $1,000
Boy/Boy/Girl or Boy/Girl/Girl (w/ or w/o Anal) = $1,000 - $1,200
Double Penetration = $1,200
Gangbang = Negotiable
Rates are always negotiable. Get paid what you're worth.
When it comes to pay, they will most likely have you fill out paper work and sign your contract before the scene. Many production companies have taken up paying performers through payroll companies that take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months(!) to mail you your check. They might write you a check and hand it to you at the end of your shoot, but most likely they're using some kind of "payroll" company that takes it's sweet ass time paying you. Find out before you go, how they will pay you.
As for contracts, I can't tell you where to find one, but it is unlikely that they will send you a contract in advance. The industry standard is to just show up at the shoot and they give it to you then.
The contract will say that if you contract any STDs including HIV during the shoot, you cannot hold the production company liable (no lawsuits!).
There should be spaces on the contract for your real name, stage name and other identifying information such as social security number and ID or driver's license number. There should also be a space on the contract that says how much you will be compensated for the scene. This will be a blank where you can fill in the agreed upon sum. NEVER LEAVE IT BLANK.
The contract will be more legalese that says you are NOT entitled to royalties, the production company owns the content and can do whatever they want with it - including using your image in phonesex and escort ads.
The actual agreed upon sex act(s) will NOT be in the contract. It will only be vaguely stated that you are providing a sexual performance for whatever production company you are performing for.
Usally after you sign the contract sometimes before, they will take a picture of you holding your ID near your face to verify your identity and age.
I am not anti-porn, but I'll give you a heads up that the majority of porn production companies are extremely unprofessional. So take patience and thick skin with you.
There's a recently published eBook you can read. It's called "Getting into Porn" and it's written by a porn star named, Monica Foster. You can find it on Amazon.
I hope this information is helpful and gives you a better idea of what to expect.

Quick suggestion - I see from a cached/dead post they had on sexyjobs that they [Cold water] offers references... you could ask them for a few from past models and try to get the lowdown from them about how they operate

Velvet Rose is correct in her information, although most BBWs get paid less than the skinny girls. Because there are very few jobs of them.
Jeff Coldwater has been in the business for years. No company is going to send you their paperwork in advance. Forms generally consist of a 2257, w-9 and model releases. The model release can be one page or as many as 10. But none of them are going to send you an advance copy so you can hand that over to the competition.
Jeff is now doing work for Ian out of England & other companies. He is a freelance guy. You can do research on Ian aka MelonJuggler aka Roland, for he has many different names to hide under on www.ChubbyParade.com You may be asked to pour a can of beans over your head, he thinks this is sexy. I find it degrading. In fact, he likes to put new models under contract & pay them NOT to work for other companies. He is NUTS, He is a Psycho, he will try to control everything you do while saying it is good for your career. He actually hates women. Expect emails of 5 to 8 page Rants.
Jeff shoots for many different companies, so I do not know who you will exactly be shooting for.
You keep thinking it will be a $100 an hour, this cracks me up and you are living in a fantasy world. Porn shoots dont pay by the hour, that is something fans do to get you into their homes to do porn/fuck you for less than they would pay an escort who would be asking for $250 to $700 per hour. Not how are REAL porn company works, they all pay by the scene. Sometimes a scene takes 2 hours, sometimes 16 if you are doing a feature.
On average in LA it only takes 2 hours to film a boy/girl scene. Do you really want to be that cheap? What if they only do video & it takes 45 minutes? So your willing to get paid $75. Miami takes longer because they do way more pictures. These are the reasons we get paid per scene, not per hour. Focusing on the hourly rates doesn't work in porn.
Please stop the $100 per hour thing, companies will find it rediculous. I don't want you to loose out on what little bbw work there is out there based on an outdated idea.
Good Luck,
Sam
Re: Where can I find an adult performer contract for working with a production compan
For the most part you will always have to pay for your own test. Rarely will a company reimburst you for it.
If you are looking for princess treatment, then think again. These companies see girls come and go from the business every single day. They are NOT fans kissing your ass in hopes of getting laid. Fans are the worst source of information about how the industry really works, clueless.
There are only 3 or 4 companies that shoot bbws. Only Sensational Video shoots them full time. Cant tell how big your boobs are, but if they are big then try www.juggmaster.com
Porn industry is probably like 3/4s what it was 3 years ago. Even major companies have cut production out by 1/2 and the pay rate to 1/2. Unless your skinny with super Big Natural Boobs there will be very little work. At the most 3 or 4 shoots and then your porn career will be over as a bbw. Only models who get Big Pay Days is the skinny gals with Big Natural Boobs, they are in high demand and still can get the major money out of all the porn companies.
Wish you lots of luck,
Sam
Re: Where can I find an adult performer contract for working with a production compan
Sam, once again thank you for your comments and suggestions. Just to clarify, my original post on this thread stated that I had been offered $500 or $600 for a 6 hour shoot. I did not ask this company for $100 an hour. I was offered $500-$600 for a 6 hour shoot plus reimbursement for testing.
I know that companies do not pay by the hour, they pay by the job. That is something you clarified for me the last time I posted a question about rates in a thread.
Don't worry- I'm not living it a fantasy world. I do have some common sense as I worked in modeling, acting and music before getting into camming.
I do appreciate the information you have given me about Coldwater and the sites he associates his work in.
I honestly probably will not ending up working with him. I have better offers from more reputable companies and I don't like when people are vague about what a job consists of.
I live two hours from LA (moving there next month) and I definitely do not need to drive there just to find out the shoot is demeaning (which is something I absolutely won't do) and have wasted that time completely.
Camming is successful for me and I won't accept an offer unless I feel 100% good about it.
I do appreciate the information. Thanks
