Hi everyone! Total newbie here!
Hello everyone! I've been lurking in the shadows here at Stripper Web for a few days now, and I thought it was about time I introduced myself! ;D I just started webcam modeling, I've only done it for a couple of days now, and I'm a bit overwhelmed. It's more difficult than I expected! Sometimes, I feel more like a preschool teacher than anything else. "Now, boys, no fighting, let's play nice!" :O
When I first started looking into doing this, I signed up with .com, then was told that it would be 2-4 weeks before I could start working. I didn't want to wait that long, so I just signed up with some sites directly and I've been doing that. Looking around the posts here, it doesn't seem that many people are big fans of studios. Why is that? Is there any benefit to them at all? I, of course, came down with a horrible case of the flu and haven't been able to do anything at all for the past few days :-\, I've been trying to do some more research while I'm laid up so I can start making money again as soon as I'm well!
I do have one question that I was hoping someone here might be able to answer for me: what is with every single guy who comes into my free chat room asking me if I call in private? I've been saying no, because I'm assuming they mean call them on the phone, and I'm not ok with that. Is it just me, or does that seem really dangerous? If you call them, they would then have your phone number, right? Seems like a really bad idea to me, but I get asked over and over, so I was just wondering if anyone actually does this and, if so, how do you protect your privacy and prevent them from getting your phone number?
Anyway, just wanted to say hi to everyone! Really enjoying the forum so far, it's been so helpful!!
Re: Hi everyone! Total newbie here!
I'm new to camming as well, but I assume they might mean Skype calls? In Skype you simply have a username and it has nothing to do with your mobile phone number.
Re: Hi everyone! Total newbie here!
what site is it where they want you to call them?
ive had that on imlive only, and imlive has been imdead for quite a while now already.
they have this phone option on streamate where no one gets your real phone number.
and even though you can block your number if you call those creeps - for fucks sake, there is no way im wasting my free minutes on them if they are in the same country i am or NO WAY im paying anything to call to another country! or... you can always get a pre-paid number which you will be using for camming only and tell them to call you. no, i really dont see a reason for you to be calling any of them.

Hey - welcome to the forums. lol preschool teacher.
If youre in the US and use Skype or Google Voice and limit it to US calls it doesnt cost you - but I rarely offer it unless on a phone sex service or the site is handling it. Sessions last longer with phone generally but it can be a hassle. Unless it is Streamate where theyll end the call if the guy ends the session - guys try to trick you to stay on the phone when they arent paying anymore
OJenni has a decent objective breakdown of pros/cons of studios: http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sho...9&postcount=19
Here is my more "grrrr studios" post: http://forum.stripperweb.com/showpos...17&postcount=1
2-4 weeks to start working on Streamate? wow. why did they say it would take so long?
Im more writing this for others reading this since I know your hands are tied: If you signed (you cant now though, you have to wait a year until your IM contract expires) up directly it takes maybe 3-5business days to start on SM (if your application is submitted correctly), less if you contact their modeling rep Vanessa. Plus I think IM's payout is one of the lowest for Streamate studios (20%?)
Re: Hi everyone! Total newbie here!
The only site I've broadcasted on so far is Cams.com, because there were only two days between when I started and when I got really sick, so that's where all of the requests for calling came from. I have active accounts at Cams.com, LiveJasmin, MyFreeCams, and Streamate, but like I said, Cams is the only one I've broadcasted from as of yet.
roast, now I'm really confused! :worried: When I was looking into IM, it stated very clearly on their website, and also in the performer agreement which I signed, that you are allowed to work on other sites at the same time you're working with IM, which is why I ultimately decided to sign up with them. I figured I might as well give it a shot, if I don't like it, then I can just stop working with them, according to their performer agreement.
Do you think that my account with Streamate will be deleted once IM decides to get their act together and get my profile set up? (I have no idea why it's taking 2-4 weeks, they claim that they're "really backed up with adding profiles". Personally, I think that 2-4 weeks is way too long to make people wait regardless of how backed up you are, especially when you first tell them that it will be a few days.) It's only taken about 24 hours to get approved and my account activated with each site I signed up with directly, so I think it's kind of laughable that IM thinks that making people wait 2-4 weeks is alright.
Also, none of my correspondence with IM has mentioned Streamate. It said that my primary site would be Cam.com. (Cam with no 's', not Cams with an 's', which is the site I've already done some work on.)
Re: Hi everyone! Total newbie here!
Cam.com is a white label for streamate, IM is contracted to only work through SM.
See this "huge" list of their network?
http://www..com/cam/webcam_network.htm
All of those sites
All of them
Every. single. one..... is Streamate.com
Seriously - cllick on all of the sites listed there. Notice how they almost all look exactly the same?
That whole list is just a mega-list of Streamate's white labels. A white label is like taking a package of M&Ms, dumping it out, putting it in a plastic baggie and calling them N&N's. It is still the exact same product but in a different wrapper. They're just an affiliate marketing strategy that IM is making it seem is a different site.
You can work other sites yes - but you cant work any site that is technically streamate unless it is through IM.
One of the bonuses of a studio is theyre supposed to expedite your application, 2-4weeks is... weird and lazy. Id expect them to want to start earning off of you asap? Streamate is always hiring and always processing applications. Did you sign up directly through or did you sign up through an agent of ?
"also in the performer agreement which I signed, that you are allowed to work on other sites at the same time you're working with IM, which is why I ultimately decided to sign up with them. "
as a free agent (non-studio performer) you can work for any site anytime you want - they used that language to make it sound like signing with them is a "perk". It isnt, it is an industry standard to work as many sites as you want simultaneously.
That, for me, is why Im largely anti-studio (when they can be avoided) - they're deceptive.
Sorry if my tone is harsh - it really has nothing to do with youor what you were made to believe: but is just... makes me mad. They're very savvy though, Ill give them that.
Re: Hi everyone! Total newbie here!
To clarify on one of your initial questions... calling you wouldn't be dangerous because when they call you they are given a number that is NOT your direct line, so they never know your "real" number and can ONLY call you while in paid chat.
Re: Hi everyone! Total newbie here!
If you contact IM immediately and tell them to delete your account you may be able to work with SM directly. I signed up with IM.com and figured out it was a studio and had them delete my account. I had never broadcasted for them though. And then I signed up with SM directly and haven't had a problem.
