Re: Any point upgrading cam?
I bought a Logitech 9000 on ebay and it's brilliant. I have a wireless mouse so it's almost like having remote control...

Thanks hun but i'm wondering if it will improve the quality of my stream at all?Other half says as I already have a full HD 720p cam, it won't make a difference as the upload speed dictates the limit of the quality of my stream... sorry if that makes no sense, i have no idea how all that stuff works.
Re: Any point upgrading cam?
I have both cameras. IMO the logitech pro 9000's quality is much better than the cinema cam even on the same bandwidth. BUT, i've gone through 2 logitechs and still have the original cinema cam. I don't know why but the logitechs seem to break faster? I don't know, i'm not good with tech shit, but i'm like blowing out the drivers or something. anyone know what would be causing this?
I've been switching off between the two and the logitech is just higher quality picture and audio. That was at like 10mbps download and 1 upload. Even so, I get the general idea from screen shots and feed back from the guys that my quality is always at about a 7-8. I just upgraded my internet though and am at 60mbps/6. Havent got on cam yet but i'm curious to see if upgrading to the best tier of internet available will help the cam quality.
I'm looking into this line of webcams though. I hear its good, has anyone had any experience?

Re: Any point upgrading cam?
Thanks. I think I'm going to buy it and keep both cams as back up when I get the EVI. Will let you know if i see any different in quality.
Re: Any point upgrading cam?
for the price you can pick up the 9000 at the moment (about £35?) it's worth it for sure. Just FYI I much prefer the 9000 over the newer (and more expensive) 910. Would be really interested to know of your EVI experiences when you do upgrade!
Re: Any point upgrading cam?
How does the 9000 compare to the C270?
I'm thinking my lighting is the issue with graininess and no so much the cam. I have such a small work space that it's hard to get far enough from the glare of my lights.
Re: Any point upgrading cam?
I've actually been considering getting the HD Lifecam so I can run it as an optional view and flick cams in ManyCam. Is it any good?

Found one for £25!! bargain!!
I read through all the reviews on the logitech's on here and on the web and got the picture the earlier 9000 is still the best so that's why i'm going for that one. I just want the EVI for the PZT & remote control lol x

Yes it's a great cam. When I looked through all the options before starting camming, this was as good as the logitech 9000, but i got it because it was cheaper :P The only issues I've had with it are that it focuses in and out randomly sometimes, and the brighness is never quite right, but that could be my lack of knowledge on the controls rather than a prob with the cam lol.
Re: Any point upgrading cam?
I used the Lifecam Cinema for a long time and I didn't really like it. The quality is pretty good but the camera itself and its features annoyed me. After a while the image started looking really "fuzzy" and blurry, though I don't know if that's a fault of the cam or if I somehow got lube or baby oil behind the lens somehow. And the Lifecam program would constantly freeze up and give error messages.
Re: Any point upgrading cam?
I have the logitech c910 I almost love it. There's a feature called right light and it compensates for inadequate lighting but it only works well up to 720p when I put it on 1080p I get some lag. So if you have great lighting already, the 1080p setting is amazing BUT only if the camsite's software can even support it.
For skype shows, I've found that it is indeed the shit.
To answer your question, I'm not sure about the 9000 it is pretty much the same res as the c910 right? I wouldn't upgrade my cam expecting higher res.The remote feature on the cam you're talking about is pretty cool and convenient but it's probably cheaper like someone said to just use a wireless mouse for now.
Another thing, how's your internet speed? That makes a tremendous difference especially if you plan on split camming.

For the brightness, check your White Balance options. I had the same issue with my Creative LiveCam HD - I kept getting an orangey tone on cam. So I went to the White Balance options and unchecked [Auto] and faffed around with the slider; now my brightness/colouring is perfect.
As for the focus... do you have anything like Face Tracking options for your cam? I think if Face Tracking is enabled your cam goes all screwy like that. Although that's more of an automatic zoom issue.
I had it set up one night and the cam kept zooming right in on my minnie when I was faking it.. gah. Bloody traitorous cam!! ;D

You hit the nail on the head! This is why I was wondering if it was worth upgrading my lifecam to a logitech right now, which has basically the same exact specs. I only have 4.04mpbs download and 0.38mbps upload. It's shit here in UK, and that's the absolute best I can get LOL! I already use manycam with AW and SM and have done ok with it but would love to improve.
Re: Any point upgrading cam?
i had the lifecam, it was total garbage, i got the 9000 and i am very pleased with it.

I agree with this - I have the 9000, c910, and even the Orbit and 9000 remains the most reliable/preferable thus far (except the c910 is more convenient/easier to mount but that isnt a big enoughperk to justify the cost difference). Hadnt heard of the lifecam but will check it out. Im interested in upgrading to a camcorder/surveillance equipment - so will look into the EVI D100. Thanks.

I COULD buy the EVI 100 now (i want pan, tilt, zoom, remote control etc), but it's probably better to wait till i have a new flat with a dedicated cam room set up before i splash that kind of money. I'm looking instead at the logitech 9000 right now on ebay and it's going really cheap. I'm tempted to buy it as an inbetween upgrade, but here in UK my upload speed is shit and my boyfriend reckons there's no point as there won't be any change in streaming quality.
Opinions?
I have a low upload speed and was originally using my built in cam on the laptop so I thought I'd buy the 9000 in the hopes that it would make my stream better and I would have better quality video. After I got it my regs said they didnt see any difference between the two. They'd never complained about my cam quality before...it was just me who thought there was something missing from it. I now just use the built in cam again because it has a much better "air brushing" effect;D
Re: Any point upgrading cam?
I have pretty much the same issue, even thou my external cam is pretty basic good but surely way better than the internal laptop one, so i just bought a logitech pro 9000 anyway!
The fastest speed my provider has is 1 in upload and 20 in download, :(
so i was wondering that too...
but since ill use the logitech to take videos and random preview pictures for camming and stuff im sure i wont regret the cam upgrade even if my internet sucks compared to most US girls!
Re: Any point upgrading cam?
Good point whiteheat. Good quality pics and clips make it worth it :D Well i bought it anyway, and Becky you were right, it ended up £35 lol! I'll get it in a few days and report back on the quality. I'm thinking now the best bet is to get the EVI and upgrade to a business line when we move to a new place. That should makes things better.
Thanks everyone :) x
Re: Any point upgrading cam?
Your upload speed does make a differebce but I find my logitec great for making videos and talking photographs

i dont know why really, but i dont trust stuff from ebay with all the warranty things. plus there is always something tricky about delivery prices.
i was just checking it out on amazon and its something like £39 now.
