Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
Girls , I know alert pay are no longer accepting adut,, but for those of you still using alert pay , I got two verification emails , one saying a new credit card had been added, and another stating I was loading my alertpay account with $1200 from MY bank account I logged into alert pay right away , and there was the pending $1200 to go in from my bank ! Good job I spotted those mails today ! Well I'm currently on the phone to their security dept. My pc is uber secure and I've not been caught by a phishing link. I rarely log into alert pay as it is !
They've just finished telling me they've put my alert pay account on hold to investigate . Girls be very careful . If you're using alertpay at all or even have an account open for non adult ventures, check the email account every day for unauthorized verification mails or log into alertpay regularly and check no unauthorized payments are due to exit . Touch wood, I was lucky enough to catch it before it went over. Hopefully this is now the end of it .
I don't want it happening to anyone else, it was quite frightening to think if I hadn't checked my account until next week , that $1200 would have exited my account and be sitting in somewhere else.
Beware!

Wow that's awful!!! Hope it's all sorted for you now x

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
Thankyou beautiful , The guys on the phone said they're investigating , and that I should tell all my friends that I likely got caught by a phishing link ! LOL So friends ,,,,, you heard !
But for the record ... I DIDN'T ! :)
The account is also under my husbands name, yet it was me who called up , they asked if they were speaking to a MR J F***^* and I replied 'yeah sure ' , which the guy readily accepted .
I found that pretty amusing :) I'm ringing up about a big fraud case on my account, and they don't question the fact I'm a woman's voice on a mans account. Maybe they were nervous about questioning something unprovable, or maybe my voice just dropped big time over night !!!!
Hopefully this be the end of it now . I'll update if anything major goes down , I'm definitely going to be watching their security from now... In fact I may just go ahead and close my account !

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
Ugggh! I'm glad you caught this before it got really ugly! Those phishing links are scary!!
-
Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
Thanks Chlo ,
The problem I have with AP , is there's no way in hell I got caught out with a phishing link . Creating such links maybe , wink wink , but there's not a chance that I fell privy to one.
It makes me question their security , which is a real worry .

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
Glad you caught it on time, Missy! Right now I am using OKPay.. Adult is OK with them, and u can accept money through OKPay themselves, alertpay, moneybookers, cashu, etc. without having a separate account for the different pps.
Hope everything goes well from now on! xx

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
Wow blank , that sounds good, do you have a referral link I should sign up with for bringing it to my attention? I'll check back later, and if you don't , I'll sign up directly .

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
Thanks for the update. I heard they were no longer accepting adult payments, but since I never use it I mainly ignore the emails. I am going to go close the account now.
-
Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
If you close the account, you should tell them why , perhaps then they will take it more seriously . I asked them if they could give me more information regarding what had happened, and the said it would compromise their security , Which is obviously already compromised !!! So I told them I planned to tell everyone I knew , and he advised me to tell them I was conned through a phishing link ! Which I know not to be the case !

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
I think it was something downloaded on your computer that you have no idea you clicked on. it happen to me Oct 2010 , taking down my membership site, removing money from my bank accounts, and fowarding my cam account payments to an unknown bank account. These things don't always come in "links" , you can easily click a picture that is linked to a scam, opening empty emails, Pop ups, and a host of other things that are not easily detectable to the eye.

I do not think we are victims of similar attack .... There is nothing I could possibly click from this pc which I would have 'no idea' of. I'm aware of the fact it doesn't have to be a link , but alert pay tried to convince me this is how we'd been caught ... I know this not to be the case and won't let them tell me otherwise. It's a very easy get out clause for them , because like you said ... many people are victim to this type of hacking ....
I can assure the PC in question is like fortnox to enter . Spamming, phishing and security is my forté ;)... the chances of me having an invasion is next to none the chances of me having an invasion which can not be pinpointed , is almost obsolete. We have been running diagnostic tests and checking the system with a fine tooth comb all day ... Believe me , PC security on this PC in particular, is not something we take lightly .
And that is why this has come as such a shock to us , everything points to the security problems having arisen through alert pay ... however we will keep searching .

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
I have to say, if you or your husband got caught by a phishing link, you wouldn't know it. Glad you caught this issue early but I would be checking other accounts and changing passwords on ALL to something unique if I were you. Never use the same password for multiple accounts; that's one of the easiest ways for criminals to get you.
I've never had a problem with my alertpay account. Your incident is no indication that their security is lacking. No matter how much you think your personal security is the greatest, the most likely cause is on your end, not alertpay's.
There are ways for people to remotely install keyloggers on your pc that can hide from practically any security. Espcially if you clicked the "wrong" link or happened to visit the "wrong" website.

No link clicked , no website visited , as I said , the machine we use for our payment processors is very monitored . It is NOT used for any purpose which could lead to said accident' .
You would be surprised S1ren - I am pretty confident the problem is external . The machine in question is very secure, and all activity noted .
I do believe my incident to be an indication of their lacking security so we'll have to agree to disagree there. The cause in general cases might be most likely to be on the PC users end , the cause in THIS case, is very likely not.
Anyway ,thankfully no harm done, take from my complaints what you will . I am confident in my speculations and wanted really to put a word of warning out for those using or joining AP .
Just because a lot of people have had no problems with a company doesn't mean one person can't have the first .
Beware .

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
So how does one check for keylogging software?
-
Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
running processes and a netlogger possibly, to check any data thats being sent from the computer.
-
Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
There are various programs out there , much like anti virus , in that some are better than others. ( and they can conflict if you run more than one , so knock off anti v for any alternate scans )
For me personally , hubby and his partner run a security business, and after scanning the machine for unusual activities they are manually beavering away on it . If the security breach is on our end , then we're lucky to have caught it in time however I am not holding my breath .....
Something which irritates me is , ALERT pay will have the name of the credit card they authorized to be added to the account .... This happened this morning ... Why was a credit card, in a completely different name and address to the account holders(us), authorized onto the account this morning .... It's actually down right fucking annoying, because when I tried to add hubbys card to my account several months ago , they denied that as a security breach ( even though we share the same name and address ) , yet today some random person gets their credit card approved on my account ! Rolls eyes. When the guy for alertpay checked my account and saw the foreign credit card, his words were 'Oh my god ' ... Which really didn't get my panties wet on the reassurance front.
Anyway , the boys in my house won't stop until we find an answer, I'm a dominatrix with good reason :P , so we shall see....

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
People who are SO SURE of their security and that they couldn't possibly have clicked or downloaded anything malicious, are exactly the ones who get screwed. In my experience. I'm not being argumentative or trying to imply anyone is ignorant. Simply pointing out that when things like this happen it almost always seems to be with someone who is *positive* they didn't have a breach or an accident.
Hackers can't hack if there isn't a hole somewhere. If there were a problem with alertpay's security there would be LOTS of people suddenly reporting it, not just one. If I were you I would look harder at personal security, and again, change all account passwords to something unique for each one.

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
Thankyou for your comments S1, as I said , we're still confident in our accusations .
The fact it can't be on alert pays side because if it were, everyone would be suffering is ludicrous . The fact I am the only one who has commented on this thus far DOES NOT mean it's not happening .
They clearly breached their security , when they started to add unverified credit cards to my account . That in it's self makes me question their position.
Because you have findings that confident people are more likely to get screwed doesn't make that conclusive, far from it !
I have taken your points into consideration .... I believe we must agree to disagree ;)
This does not come down to passwords being similar and what not , none are .
Hackers can't hack if there's not a hole somewhere .... That hole does NOT need to be on my side, when other companies deal with my information.
I believe in this case, it's not. But like I said , quite happy to agree to disagree.
Thanks for your contributions,
Missy .

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
Missy thanks so much for alerting us to a possible problem. I completely get that your hubby works computer security and that you have had extensive experience in said "security" haha. I appreciate the warning as I have actually gotten crap on my computer while I worked for ChaCha on just some random thing and it blackscreened my computer for months, that sucked.
Girls if you have AP alerts sent to a different email address than your main one it;s simple with both gmail and hotmail to have them forwarded to your main accounts so you are sure to see them.
Hope it gets resolved for you Missy.

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
Not saying *everyone* would suddenly have a problem if it were an AP issue, but surely more than 1person. Someone who could breach a site's security like that would be doing it to several people's accounts, not just 1. That's why it looks to me like not an AP issue. I've searched and haven't found any other reports of AP issues.
It appears that someone just got access to YOUR account. That doesn't indicate an AP problem to me. I just think people should look at this objectively before rushing to close their accounts.

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
They verified credit cards onto my account which don't belong to me ... I don't mean the 'hacker' did , I mean ALERTPAY did !
Even if we take how they got in to my account aside, they still violated their security when they approved a completely random account onto mine .
Really , I had so much trouble in the past years trying to validate legit bank accounts onto the system , and then mr hacker comes along, and alert pay give the go ahead.
S1, I don't think im coaxing girls into 'rushing off and closing their accounts ' , rather I am sharing my experience , and what ALERTPAY DID TO ME , and as far as authorizing a strangers details on my account , that was indeed alert pay at fault, irrelevant of how those details were accessed.
S1, I've agreed to disagree here, yet you keep coming back and posting that it's NOT an AP problem ...... Please can we agree to disagree and leave it at that. I only wanted to warn girls here regarding what happened to me because contrary to what you say , I DO believe this to be an alertpay Problem .
I have a lot of friends here, and I couldn't care less if no one on the net is experiencing this right now , I don't want it to happen to them .
All the best ,
Missy

Re: Alert pay - Dangerous , please read .
I know I've struggled with AP cause I have 1 CC in my maiden name since I got divorced. Everything else is in my married name and they gave me such a hassle about it I just gave up trying to get it on there.
