Re: Facebook privacy help
Eeeek I had the same issue. After 2 days i couldn't take the paranoia anymore and deleted my alias account. Have not made another one and don't intend to. I'm not sure how other girls get around this?
Re: Facebook privacy help
I think that's what I'm going to have to do too cause tonight hubby's sister popped up as a suggestion. Yikes.
I don't really care about what they think, but it could be a huge fight for him. Plus I'd have to block people for like 8 hours straight and I'd probably still miss some.
Re: Facebook privacy help
ahh this is why i don't have a facebook. if i was you, i'd just delete it cause that would creep me out.
Re: Facebook privacy help
Just deleted and chose the option that I do not feel safe on FB. I also noticed that it logs your city in your security settings as to where you connect from not sure if that can be viewed by anyone else on there either.
In the explanation box I sent:
I have two facebook accounts. One for personal and one for business. My business account kept recommending people from my personal life and personal FB account to be friends on my business account. This account is something that I did not want mixed with my personal life/contacts. There was absolutely no info that was shared between the two accounts besides the IP address. Until this issue can be fixed I will not use FB at all for business.
Re: Facebook privacy help
i had the same problem, and deleted my alias account. it makes me really uncomfortable and honestly makes me want to get rid of fb altogether, but i use my personal fb for a lot of networking so i need to keep it.
Re: Facebook privacy help
plus facebook is not adult content friendly, even though a lot of us use it anyway. this is just another thing to add to my "no facebook" list.
Re: Facebook privacy help
Facebook keeps getting more and more creepy. I'm getting to where I'm almost not comfortable using it at all.
I made a twitter account for my alias, anyone know if that's better for not connecting the two accounts?
Re: Facebook privacy help
I haven't had a single issue with Twitter at all.
Re: Facebook privacy help
I use twitter and so far haven't seen anyone i know in real life. I never had a personal twitter account and don't know many friends who use it though so may be different if you have two accounts x
Re: Facebook privacy help
twitter is amazinglovelywonderful & i've never had any problems with real life people popping up.
Re: Facebook privacy help
Just a Twitter heads up,I have a personal and a business account....my personal has about 10 followers (lol, which shows how popular I am in real life::) ) and my business one obviously lots more.
About a month ago,it kept recommending my personal Twitter as someone my business Twitter should follow-which totally freaked me out-and I took my photo off my personal one,as if it was recommending me to me....was it recommending my personal account to my pervy followers?
They both had totally different email addresses,so I have no idea why-maybe it was because I had accessed both account on the one computer? Either way, didn't want to risk it.
Re: Facebook privacy help
Cookies - FB and twitter stores your internet activity even if you switch accounts, so the recommendations are based on your cookies. I get recommendations on performer twitters to follow ppl on my personal twitter every so often - ditto with FB
But yea FB is a POS when it comes to adult stuff (and is a privacy nightmare in general), same with Yahoo pulse... which haha does anyone even use that, oh Yahoo, you try so hard
Re: Facebook privacy help
You can always block people from seeing that profile when you notice they come up as a suggestion, and also not put your face as a profile pic.
Re: Facebook privacy help
I use Firefox for my work accounts and Chrome for my personal accounts on Twitter and FB, and the only crossover is from a couple of other strippers who I have on both work and personal accounts, or who have customers on their personal accounts (ew).
I'm pretty sure Roast's cookies explanation is true, based on this experience. Can anyone else duplicate this? Clear all your browser's cookies, and start using a different browser for work accounts only. I'm thinking it will solve the problem, unless you have even one person on both accounts.
Re: Facebook privacy help
There is no possible way to maintain privacy on facebook. The purpose of facebook is to harvest information, to store information and to share information. If you have more than 1 account they already know it and even if you haven't migrated the two they are still associated. NOTHING is deleted, when you hit that deleted button, it only hides it from view, it's actually stored and CAN come back to haunt you at any time.
I deleted my accounts about 2 months ago. There is no such thing as privacy on facebook and although you may think you are in control of what is shown, deleted, hidden... think again.
Re: Facebook privacy help
i wouldn't even bother with facebook for my cam persona. i heard that it doesn't convert well anyways and it's just a waste of time. do myspace cuz it is mostly filled with guy between the ages of 40-68 yrs old. that's where the money is anyways. facebook is mostly filled with cheapos and conventional family ppl, just don't waste your time and energy on it.

It will be okay with it just hidden honestly cause the people that would cause any issue aren't smart enough to find it, and the ones who are I'm not worried about.
I don't have a personal Twitter so no worries there. And I never even thought about the cookies, completely slipped my mind. That would be a total pain to have to clear them every time you log in.
Oh well, I agree FB was sucking anyways, should have known better since I never even get on my RL account.
