How to hide imperfections on HD cam?
So I just got a Logitech 9000 and I like it a lot except it just seems TOO realistic! With my last two cameras (Lifecam Cinema & Logitech HD C270), I was able to achieve a somewhat 'dreamy' look. My pale skin looked milky, creamy & nearly flawless. With the 9000 my skin just looks pasty and blotchy. Packing on the makeup doesn't help too much because then I can see just how cakey the makeup is on my skin! lol.
Messing around with the settings hasn't helped too much yet. I've managed to look decent but still too 'naked' for my taste, lol. So I was wondering what you all do to hide imperfections with your HD cams?
Re: How to hide imperfections on HD cam?
I lightly change the brightness and contrast in the settings - not so much it looks alien but it softens the sharp edges + add a pink light bulb. I was skeptical about this suggestion but it isn't bad, a red one also does the trick.
I also use the 3 point of lighting system http://www.mediacollege.com/lighting/three-point/ or http://www.mediacollege.com/lighting...simulator.html but I add a light directly in front of my face (user discretion is advised)... so it is a 4-point lighting system. My room is basically bright as hell. Plus I make sure to highlight and contour heavily - but I blend it
Makes me look like a porcelain-faced glamor queen in HD instead of a tired former chainsmoker.
Whenever Ive broadcast at a different location without all my lights or I forget to adjust the settings - yikes

Mine is usually off to the right facefront - my back light is usually halogen
Re: How to hide imperfections on HD cam?
I have the 9000 and also use a pink light in addition to my other lighting. With the 9000, Do not use the "Right Light", it will mess up your cam. Disable the RL and then adjust your exposure up some, and your white light to about 3/4 way up. See if that helps any. I have also noticed that daytime seems to fuck with my settings. I recently got room darkening shades in addition to my room darkening drapes. That helps with that light that peaks around the edges during the day :party2:

To me, it just helps to smooth everything out. Also my walls are an off white color so it helps to tone everything down and create an ambiance. It adds a subtle warmth.
Re: How to hide imperfections on HD cam?
^Yes, pink paint, by the way, improves EVERYONE's complexion, I think, no matter your hair or skin coloring.
Hell, I think guys should wear pink more often. It's so flattering.
Re: How to hide imperfections on HD cam?
Ah pink paint is brilliant - didn't think of that! Great idea. I can just use it on one wall. Ill look into it. One of my walls that I broadcast from is institutional green which is blech since I have warm tones.
Also heftier makeup like Illamsqua's foundation really makes your skin look like it is made of butter, esp if you use a fair amount of primer.
Re: How to hide imperfections on HD cam?
hmm def gonna have to get some pink lightbulbs! thanks, girls! :) maybe some curtains as well cause i just have blinds & when the sun filters in in strips of lights, it washes me out on cam & frustrates me.
Re: How to hide imperfections on HD cam?
I am supposing that these are LIGHT/SOFT pink bulbs?
I have looked it up and have found light pink, transparent darker pink, and ceramic pink.
Also, I see different bulbs of different wattage.
What exactly should I get?
Should I use pink light bulbs in both frontal light points or maybe even the backlight point too?
I would appreciate it if someone could be more specific because I am not sure what to buy or where to use the pink lights yet.

Mine pink bulb is one of the spirally bulbs. You can get them at walmart for $5.00. I just have it in a floor lamp, off in a corner. This is used in addition to my lighting. You don't want to use ONLY pink lights. Just one.
Re: How to hide imperfections on HD cam?
Dammit Roast. You always say all the smart shit I was going to say. :) Nobody will think I'm clever any more.
But yeah, with HD you've got to find flattering lighting. I have some portable video lights that flood the whole place with light and they have restored a flattering skin tone.
Re: How to hide imperfections on HD cam?
Well that's odd, I couldn't find a pink lightbulb anywhere. I went to Zeller's, WalMart, and Home Hardware. I found red, green and blue bulbs but no pink! >:(
Re: How to hide imperfections on HD cam?
I never really have a problem with any of this. I have the Logitech C910 and I think I look fine on it really. I don't wear foundation on my face at all, only eye make up. I have a floor lamp that has 2 lightbulbs on it and that is the only lighting I use. I also do not use right light or right sound because they both jack up my cam bad. I have pink walls tho so maybe that helps?
Re: How to hide imperfections on HD cam?
did not try this yet, but I see lots of ladies are talking about pink light.
What about just covering a lamp with a light see throu pink scarf?

I have been reading about the C910 and it seems to require less lighting. I have wanted one for a while. Yes, Right light always screws mine up too.
