New escort: agency or indy?
I have been thinking about getting into escorting for a while and now that I feel ready I've been doing a lot of research on here in terms of both going indy, and starting through an agency. On one hand I feel like I don't have enough experience and knowledge about the industry to begin independently, and I don't want to wait for a long time while I get everything set up and begin to make connections and find my initial clients. It all seems pretty overwhelming to me in terms of setting up a website, learning to screen etc on top of actually doing the appointments. On the other hand, I know that I wouldn't learn things like screening while working for an agency anyway, and the thought of handing over 40% of my money kills me, as well as leaving my safety in someone elses hands.
While I've been searching through SW, I found a quote from Malaya where she said that she hated handing over half her money while she was with an agency, but she felt like she walked away with something more valuable: experience. What do you escorting ladies think? Did you start as an indy girl or with an agency? Do you think it was a good choice?
Merci :)
Re: New escort: agency or indy?
I'm kind of going the opposite way, in early 2011 I built up some experience as an indy "random [insert my niche] person who will do random things for random sums of money," lol.
I kept advertising on the most random sites and constantly changing my info/approach, the upside I think is that all the super awkward, unprofessional episodes went unrecorded, had I worked for an agency and gotten reviews it might have been terrible, I did intentionally charge super low though (for my niche.) Now that I have at least basic idea of how it is done in real life I think I would want an agency, just less headache, e.g., if I'm on a tour let's say it wouldn't be bad giving away 35% for a steady supply of custies and an emergency number to call if something goes wrong during an outcall.
Considering you're a dancer I would do the opposite though - you already have extensive 1-on-1 interaction experience, you don't need amateurish experiments, you could see what is the professional way of handling things for a while, then tell them bye-bye and do it even more professionally on your own.

I say go independent if you can. start with reading amanda brooks books book 1 and book 2.
Yes being with an agency does have some benefits, but now going on year 3 of being independent i must say it is more rewarding being independent, you know exactly what is going on and you have more information to make your own choices being independent. being with an agency the more you with them and the more you discover your personal limits the more you lose your anatomy and then agency will basically see you as difficult.
I orginally started escorting with an agency because I saw so many of them in my city that I thought that was the only way to make the money these agencies advertise. it took me a few years to discover that is not true. It can sometimes be overwelhming being independent and just as with being under an agency. When your with an agency your really your own person your their product they sell.
I recently took a break from escorting for about ayear, to rethink what I wanted out of life and now that I am back escorting independently . I find it more rewarding.
