I forgot my old cam persona
When I first started camming before i even heard of stripperweb, i just worked and made money and i thin because i was so new it was so organic and innocent that i forgot how to do it. I dunno if its cause im getting older or what but i'm just not as into it. Have any of you other ladies feel like you would have done better off without reading soo much information from this site, I'm not saying the info on here isn't very helpful because i love it but I feel like i've tried so many new things with the great advice iv'e gotten that I can't remember how I cammed a year ago.

Re: I forgot my old cam persona
I think reading this site derailed me a bit from the sites I started out on & I lost sight of consistency for a few months when I first found it because I kept jumping from shiny new idea to shiny new idea. I was worried that since certain sites & hustles I was on were not being discussed here that meant I didn't know what I was doing (roast you fool). Which is so stupid since my earnings were usually fine & I forgot to keep that as the measuring stick. So for those handful of months I did some idiotic impulse sign ups that bit me in the ass or wasted my time when my usual sites/hustles/personas were doing fine but withered from a lack of attention.
Now very few of the impulse signups remain - almost all of the sites I was on before I found SW I am still on... which I often find myself wishing I did from the get go. Which is no one's fault but my own. But it was a good burnout prevention lesson - if what you're doing works, just stick with it. Or if you like certain sites for whatever reasons but no one else does or it doesn't have the best traffic: just nurture it, learn how to promote, and stick with it.
But I learned a lot about how to deal with freeloaders, privacy, and time management. I'd say though that my main use of SW has been to feel less isolated. That has been invaluable.
Re: I forgot my old cam persona
I think I know exactly what you are saying...
In the past I too was more innocent , more willing, more... more.. more..
Now I am willing but its just different.
I feel like I have to do what others do, I have to do what others say, not that I do it but after reading all the info I feel like I need to. And this gets confusing.
Im actually sitting here browsing all the sites, the other girls, the forum... just so I dont get online.
I was just telling someone today that the whole "seeing what others do/say" has jaded me to the point that I dont even want to log on.
I should stop looking at others. And I should limit the time I spend on the forum.
But as roast says the main reason Im on this forum is because I need/want to feel I am part of a community.

Re: I forgot my old cam persona
My old persona was dumb and naive as hell. She can stay where she's at. Sure she was endearing, but savvy? Hardly. Banking? Not even!
Re: I forgot my old cam persona
I think there is good information here, but we always have to be mindful to use our own judgment. I use one site that I have seen people on SW insist is dead. Take the good advice that is here but always follow your gut, and some things you just have to see for yourself.
Re: I forgot my old cam persona
i've found the boards helpful in losing a lot of my naivete - i'm really really really fucking nice in real life, and i can take a LOT of bullshit, and those are not helpful traits for camming. reading the boards has helped me figure out how to deal with the beggars, timewasters, etc. much much better and helped me figure out how to focus when i'm actually on cam.
on the downside, i love the boards and i do consulting for businesses and nonprofits in the non-adult world, so i love business planning, problem solving, etc. and lately dreaming about what i want for my businesses and where i want things to go, a lot of which has been facilitated by discussions here...it's been taking up my attention and taking my focus off of the paid work i need to be doing right this minute. so i'm busy learning balance. if it's not one thing, it's another. lol!
Re: I forgot my old cam persona
SW is a tool, that's all. I read a lot of info here about how girls bank, how long it takes them to bank, how they wear their hair while banking. This site is dead, that site is not. I do this or I never do that. And I contribute to that too, because I think it's interesting to share experiences. But at the end of the day, I cam how I want to. This is my gig not SW's. I do what I want, and what I am comfortable with, not what chicks on SM recommend.
I went through some of the "shiny new idea" myself, very briefly. I signed up for a different site because girls said it was good, then another site. And then it hit me. There was nothing wrong with my original site. It's not broke...why am I trying to fix it??

Yes I feel exactly like this! I LOVE this site don't get me wrong, but I found AW through a totally non sexual forum i'm on and literally spent every night for a month on there non-stop. I made shit loads of cash and really enjoyed it. When I started reading the threads here I started trying out other sites, splitcamming, changing my prices, using different techniques on my custies etc... and suddenly everything changed. The money is still the same (i know how to make more now), but i think i tried to do so much "because it's what everyone else is doing" and started thinking about it all way too indepth, so i lost motivation, and also a lot of that innocence i started off with. Funny how it happens isn't it.

Re: I forgot my old cam persona
^^ Im just like that now. I started out on Imlive probably almost 2 yrs ago. I got a few dollars a night..maybe 75 at the most when i first started and O MY GOD, i thought it was amazing..Now im on MFC and if i make less than $200 for 3 hrs i seriously wana cry and just go to bed. It makes me feel like im not liked as much...until the next day i get $500 in 3 hrs and all of a sudden i feel like a God to these guys!! Camming can really mess w/ ur head and ur confidence.
One thing i've noticed tho...and this is probably JUST ME, but the more i get on the more i WANT to be on and the more i enjoy it. (also the more chances of getting more regs) I used to work maybe 2 or 3 times a week or every other week and it made me become lazy and hardly EVER get on. But now im trying to get on every night and see what my check can be........
Re: I forgot my old cam persona
Stripperweb makes me pull my hair out at times. Listening to others suggestions, techniques, favorite sites can get you distracted fairly easily.
