DON'T use silicone toys if you have autoimmune issues (Lupus, Eczema, Arthritis, Etc)
I thought Camming Connection would be a better section for this rather than Body Business since dancers don't use toys. Sorry if its TMI, but its helpful to girls with autoimmune issues or recurring vaginal issues.
Backstory: I have lupus, eczema, and psoriasis. The lupus developed soon after I got silikon 1000 injected into my lips, but I didn't realize that til a couple years later.
I started using silicone toys a couple months ago and have had horrible recurring vaginal infections since then, in addition to an abnormal pap smear which really freaked me out (semi-common though). I've never had HPV, so that's not what caused the abnormal cells. It was something else "unknown". I was treated for cervicitis, but it did nothing, and I guess that's what they normally treat people for in this situation. I go back today, and they diagnose me with a really bad yeast infection. This doesn't feel like a normal yeast infection, it feels different. They give me Diflucan pill which is the strongest treatment for a yeast infection.
That is a BREAKTHROUGH though! Why? So I have a strong yeast infection, right? The only way I could have gotten this is from the silicone toys! I noticed that it was red and burning after the toy use each time, even though I super cleaned all the toys and used only coconut oil (anti-inflammatory) the whole time.
Remember the 1990's when silicone implants were taken off the market for like a decade? Do you know WHY??? They were thought to INDUCE autoimmune disorders in a good % of those who got them!!! Though they now claim there is no correlation, I don't believe it for a second! I have seen how my body reacted to silikon 1000 lip injects as well as now silicone toys, and I can tell you that there is a HUGE connection, at least for me! These experiences were NOT me making up these symptoms in my head, because I did not put the pieces all together until... like 3 months ago for the silikon 1000 thing, and literally TODAY for the silicone toy thing. I believe there IS a connection. At least for me.
So what does this tell us? Silicone inside bodies with autoimmune issues = excessive yeast (candida). Excessive yeast builds up because the silicone is seen a strong foreign invader in the body. Its essentially VERY toxic!
So those of you having recurring vaginal issues, do a candida cleanse or get a px for diflucan and avoid sugar. Then your symptoms might go away.
And to avoid these issue all together? Don't use ANY silicone toys and make sure your lube is NOT silicone-based!

Re: DON'T use silicone toys if you have autoimmune issues (Lupus, Eczema, Arthritis,
thanks! i have arthritis, among other health problems. i don't have a problem with yeast normally but i did have a really bad reaction to a low quality silicone toy once. i was looking at a few higher quality silicone toys but i'll stick to glass from here on in!

Re: DON'T use silicone toys if you have autoimmune issues (Lupus, Eczema, Arthritis,
I just started to develop eczema. Thanks!

Re: DON'T use silicone toys if you have autoimmune issues (Lupus, Eczema, Arthritis,
Hmmmm...I've always had psoriasis, and its usually pretty related to my diet, so this is an interesting point to consider..
I really need to get a bunch of glass toys, I think!! And I always use water based lube so I don't destroy my toys!

When you eat bread products or milk? High amounts of silicon are found in both, and only in those. There are small amounts in vegetables, but that is probably mostly due to the water those plants consume while growing. Though silicon (natural) is not quite the same as silicone (man-made), silicon does make up part of silicone.

Ok, hold up.
Not accusing anything but in your previous thread Glamour you said you weren't sure about the quality or if the material was high grade or not. You said they (toys) smell,

Don't use silicone toys at all!
and here in this thread you say you've had red and burning sensations after using a toy. Sounds like an reaction to phthalates to me.
I had a rubber/vinyl toy that would cause me burning and soreness after I used it and I would feel very sick after using it. It eventually started to break down and flake off as I used it.
High grade silicone does not smell, has no taste, it is hypoallergenic, non porous, is phthalates free and does not break down. 100% silicone toys are among the safest to use on the market right now along with glass, steel, wood, acrylic and stone toys. I have never, ever heard of someone having a reaction to a high-grade silicone toy.
The toys that WILL cause those symptoms are found in plastic, jelly, rubber, pvc, cyber-skin, low-grade silicone and shitty no-name brand knock off toys. If your toys are CHEAP (around $30 and under) then do not be surprised if you have itching, burning, yeast infections, and your toys start to come apart.

Phthalates (the ph is silent) are added to polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to make it more pliable, so they are often found in soft plastic things, like toys made for small children, animals, and sexual pleasure. Vinyl sex toys containing the chemicals are among the most inexpensive and widely available on the market. But while their texture makes them ideal for insertables, it turns out that what makes them enjoyable may also make them toxic. Because phthalate-spiked PVC is not a stable inert compound, these toys continually leach phthalates, which can cause a nasty odor, a greasy film, and genital irritation... .
And...

Lots of people are talking about the burning, itching, and other irritation experienced after using PVC sex toys with phthalates.
Another downside to these toys is that they're porous, so they cannot be easily cleaned or completely disinfected (like nonporous materials such as silicone or glass).
Lube no matter the type can cause infections. Most lubes have glycerin and some lubes even contain SUGAR - both of which can cause some nasty yeast and bladder infections.
I was getting bladder & yeast infections with Astroglide (water-based) until I switched to Sliquid a different water based lube with no sugar, no glycerin. My symptoms cleared right up!
That said, I wouldn't knock a sex material until you are 100% sure about the quality you are using. High-grade silicone and low-grade silicone, cyberskin, rubber, jelly are COMPLETELY different materials.
Please check your toys, research the brands, KNOW what materials you put inside your body and be aware of whats in your lube.

The squirting toy is not the one I was referring to when I made this post. I mentioned not to use silicone toys, in that post, in case others had not seen this thread. I only really use the squirting toy for oral because well, its the squirting kind. A lot of the silicone ones I have I don't really remember who made them because I bought them from a sex shop and didn't order them. The ones I have range from like $20 to like $75. They are def silicone, the ones I'm referring to.
I don't use lube. I've only ever used coconut oil. I am scared of chemicals, as you've probably seen in all my other posts, which is why I have de-phthalated, de-parabened, and de-aluminized all of my personal care items like shampoo, conditioner, skin care items, etc. I only use natural items.
If you google autoimmune/lupus/whatever autoimmune disorde + silicone, hundreds of thousands of websites come up, as well as websites solely dedicated to people's experiences who had similar reactions to silicone.
And my doctor was the one that told me that's how I got this yeast infection.

Ok, if you say so. It just sounds odd to me. I've never heard a thing about it. But thanks for bringing it up - I wasn't aware.

Re: DON'T use silicone toys if you have autoimmune issues (Lupus, Eczema, Arthritis,
And I just wanted to say... Obviously this issue is not going to apply to very many people, but it will apply to a few! Its better to be safe than be sorry, and this is just something small you can do if you have these issues to help prevent flareups. Doctors still have no idea why people get autoimmune issues, nor how to prevent flareups.
The way I look at it, the more preventative measures you take, the better. I'm sure the only ones who will really understand this & appreciate tips like this are the ones who have moderate to severe autoimmune issues. I know I cherish whenever someone who has similar issues to me gives me preventative tips. So I really feel like this info is helpful.

You know, if you've felt a noticeable difference in the quality of your health since you had the implants put in, you should look into getting them removed. Doctors are going to tell you "oh but there was a study done and there's no correlation, bye overreactor!" However, a naturopathic doctor will probably tell you otherwise. They obviously don't do surgery though. If you feel like they haven't impacted your health and you're happy with them, you should keep them and not worry too much about it.
What I find strange is... most of the people who have immune issues have only had difficulties with the silicone gel ones. Both silicone and saline implants have a silicone shell regardless... so it seems to be something about the gel. Liquid silicone gel (pure medical grade aka "high quality") is what I had injected into my lips, and then the trouble started. Toys are made of a harder gel obviously, because they are solids. That has obviously affected me,
If I ever choose to get implants in the future (which I highly doubt I will now), I will get saline, and be prepared to take them right out if any problems occur (which would not surprise me).
Some people have actually been found to have developoed antibodies to silicone in their blood (much like what people have for HIV/AIDS). Silicone is obviously toxic to some, but not to all. If you have an immune issue already, your body is prone to making those antibodies when anything man-made enters the body and doesn't leave. Hence why I had cysts on my lip I had to get removed by a plastic surgeon (reconstructive). My body was trying to reject it.
This is the same premise as the "vaccines cause autism!" debate. No, vaccines don't cause autism, but vaccines contain nearly 100% deathly toxic chemicals like heavy metals and formaldehyde (used to preserve corpses). I read the list of ingredients and its actually really disturbing. And like I've mentioned before, autism does seem to have some autoimmune component, so its only natural that your body would go out of wack when injected with highly toxic chemicals when your body is already highly sensitive and prone to attacking foreign invaders.
The reason why eczema and psoriasis appears to be dry skin is because the body is essentially programmed to attack itself. (There is silicon in water... which may be why I usually have an eczema rash when I get out of the shower). If your body is already attacking healthy cells in your body, there is no way in hell its going to avoid attacking toxic man-made substances you put in your body. It may pick and choose what it attacks, but it is bound to attack at least most of the foreign, man-made things.

Re: DON'T use silicone toys if you have autoimmune issues (Lupus, Eczema, Arthritis,
What toys specifically were you using? A sex toy can say silicone on it as long as it's made of 10 percent silicone. U have to find toys that are 100% medical grade silicone. Otherwise it can contain phthalates. There should be no smell or taste to your toys

Thank you!!!!! I have psoriasis and I wouldn't want anything like that happening to me.

There's a bunch. Like 5 mainly. They are silicone. I purchased them from a sex store, I will go again soon and see the brand names. I purposely went out of my way to buy silicone ones because everyone said those were so high quality. But I was confused because these "high quality" toys were causing me so much trouble, so I asked how to tell the difference. You all said price. I have expensive & not-so-expensive ones. Price has nothing to do with it. They do not smell. My life-like ones smell, but those are BJ toys, not silicone.
I had medical grade silicone injected in my lips, and still had a reaction from that which induced lupus, in addition to several cysts developing on my lips. The cysts were trying to quarantine the silicone and out of my body. So it has nothing to do with phthalates, parabens, or whatever else. Those are still bad and I make sure not to use them, but it is the silicone that is the culprit here. At first my dr thought I had an allergy to latex. I told her that wasn't possible because I wasn't using anything with latex. She tested that anyway and told me she saw that it looked like my body was rejecting something. Then I told her I was using silicone toys, and she said that is the culprit and that my body is rejecting it, and likely the reason why my pap was abnormal. Once I go again next year, if the pap is normal (which is what I suspect will happen), silicone toys will clearly be the original cause.

Okay, I'm trying to read all of this thread and it's making my head spin 0_o
I have lupus & I just invested in a high quality silicone toy..So that was a bad thing to do? Based on this information is there ANY toy that's safe for me to use???
I'm so confused now!

Glass toys because glass is not toxic to the touch and does not break down. I personally would avoid all silicone toys regardless of grade in case you are allergic to silicone and have this same reaction later on. Or if you ever get an abnormal pap smear then stop using them and see if that changes things. I see that people are trying to argue that its not silicone that I had a problem with, but all signs point to it being silicone period.

Re: DON'T use silicone toys if you have autoimmune issues (Lupus, Eczema, Arthritis,
Hmm..I'm way overdue for a pap so I'll keep using my toys, then if anything comes back abnormal I'll know to stop using them. Right now the only problem I have is frequent UTIs, and I had that problem before I was railing myself with toys everyday.

I would switch to glass toys for like a month (or however long it takes for you to usually get a UTI) and see if it makes a difference :-). If not then you could still use silicone and be fine.

That's good! Very few people seem to have an issue with silicone it seems, but the ones that do have the issues with it usually have autoimmune problems (so there has to be some link), and usually find out the hard way. If you have no reaction to it and feel comfortable with silicone, then I wouldn't worry too much. This is more of like a warning & preventative thing. If health problems do arise (especially if they are of unknown origin), suspect the silicone.
