death by lapdance: a first night report
So a few weeks back I finally mustered up the courage to do an ameteur night, and I won! It took me about a week to actually get back into the club for my first shift, and that's where my story starts.. I was having what I'm sure was a typical awkward first night. I danced on stage, looking like a newbie, but smiling and talking to people on the tip rail, which earned me a decent amount of tips and I also sold two dances from it. The first of which, the only word the guy knew how to say in English was, "Hotel?"
Then myself and two other girls sat with these guys in a VIP section, the one I was initially chatting up was clearly just not into me, which is something I'm not very used to. So, I moved on to another in the group and had much more luck with him, sold my first dance with "Its my first night. Oh you don't believe me? Buy a dance and I'll prove it" and then continued to chat him up, and the second time I took him back for a dance there was an old man on a stretcher, being tended to by medics. I made a joke like "That was probably the best- and possibly the last- dance of his life.."
I was in the dressing room and the manager came back and said two words to the house mom... "He died."
This got me wondering, How did he die? Did he have a heart attack? Who was the girl that gave him a dance? That poor girl, what would I do if that happened to me? Would I feel guilty? Did she crush him or something? And lastly, is this real life?
I was pretty freaked out, and have not returned. I blew off the four days I scheduled and left my sheriffs card, which I have yet to retrieve. I'm thinking I want to give the whole thing another shot, but at a different club..
But yeah, thought I would share.. And have any of you ever experienced a death in your club? Is it normal-ish, or was that just my luck?
Re: death by lapdance: a first night report
Now there's a first night for the books! Rest assured, customers dying in the club is definitely not a normal occurrence. Once a guy was killed outside of my old club getting hit by a car, and I've heard of club shootings in sketchier areas, but never heard of a customer dying in the club. That'd royally freak me out though, especially on my first night.
Just FYI, you may have to return to that club to pick up your sheriff's card. Maybe check with the licensing department if you can get a second one if it's been 'misplaced' though to save yourself that hassle.
Re: death by lapdance: a first night report
Haha I guess by normal-ish I meant more likely than I would have hoped.. But thanks thats great advice I think I would much rather have a new one issued than go back..
Re: death by lapdance: a first night report
Wow, definitely not a normal occurrence. I can completely understand not wanting to dance there after that but don't let it put you off stripping all together. Go in and grab your stuff that you left there and just tell the manager that it freaked you out and you don't think you can work there anymore. I'm sure they'll understand, clubs are used to having girls come in and work a few nights then disappear and you have a good reason.
It sounds like you were having a good night up until then and doing well for your first night, try to focus on that part.
Re: death by lapdance: a first night report
An elderly guy had a heart attack & past away on the couch in a private room at the club I used to work at years ago (they called an ambulance & tried to make it look like he was alive i.e. no sheet zipped over his face so as not to alarm the other patrons).
It would make for a traumatic first night to say the least. If you don't wish to return to the club, go back in to collect your card & quit at the same time (girls often come & go so the club won't give you a hard time about it). If there are other clubs in your area you could always audition there instead.
