Tips going from Dancer to Waitress
Hello.
I am new here and hope this is in the correct section.
I danced in the 90's and made a great living at it. Took some time off now thinking about waitressing. I know when I was dancing waitresses made about $200+ per day (dayshift). How much do you normally tip your waitress? What tips do you have for being a great waitress? I would assume I would try to get guys I meet everyday to come into the club. How much time do you spend with the waitress? How has the economy changed the time or money you spend in a club? Any other tips that you have and that I did not ask would be great as well.
Thanks in advance for your help. :)
Re: Tips going from Dancer to Waitress
Well, I'm afraid you aren't going to get a concrete answer here. First, clubs have for the most part died down alot since the 90's. Then factor in that every guy is different. Alot of guys will tip $1 per drink. Yet a round of 6 drinks at a table totally $36 and you might get the $4 change as a tip. Guys can be idiots too. Have seen the .25 cents left as a tip when the drink was $5.75. Hell, I have even seen no tips because the 'waitress made a weak drink' and watch the guy tip the same bartendar who made the drink $3 for the same drink. Food served? More chances for tips. Give change in a way that encourages tips. Don't give two fives as change.....give them a five and five ones. I generally tip 30%.
Tips that might help? First tip is you aren't there to spend time with the customers. That is for the dancers and if you start 'moving in on their territory' you won't be very popular. Other than that.....the same you would want in a waitress. Be efficient and timely with checking on us. Remember what our drinks are. Sorta annoying to have to tell you the fifth time. Be friendly!
Remember....you aren't there to entertain, the dancers are. Repeat this to yourself. You can be a popular, friendly, favorite waitress and use the skills you learned as a dancer but use them while serving and move on. You can't do your job if you are sitting with the customers and you would be blocking the dancers from doing theirs. Times have changed and every guy is different. Good luck!!!
