Out of town...Dallas, Phoenix, any ideas?
Hi all,
I used to dance in my late teens/early 20s in my hometown in TN. I moved to New Mexico after I finished my bachelor's degree, and stripped off & on for the first year here, but my last time was in 2006. So it has been a while (I was 24 then). I'm having major debt problems right now, but I can't work in-state because I have another job working with college students here in NM & it is a pretty small area, and I don't want to get caught because I'd lose my day job. So I was thinking about traveling for a week or so at a time during breaks as my work schedule is on an academic calendar & I have lots of breaks. My next one is the week of Thanksgiving.
So now my question is where should I go? I was thinking Dallas - I remember when I was dancing regularly, some of the girls went there & said they made bank. One of the girls ended up moving there because her BF lost his job & she made so much money there. So I was thinking since it is only a 10 hour drive, that would be feasible to go for a week. Do I need anything special to work there, like a license? If so, does it say that I'm a dancer, in case a job does a background check on me later on? Also, is it feasible to get hired on a Monday to work through the week? I need to work Monday through Saturday (probably taking Tues., Wed., Or Thurs. off to rest! It has been 5 years out of those heels!).
Another option would be the Phoenix area. Again, are there any requirements there for a license? And how is the money? I'm a little worried by the post about the $10 dance. My original club was only $10 dances, but this was for no contact dances - you couldn't even touch his knees! So I'm not sure about $10 for full contact. I'm okay with contact, I did it here in ABQ, but not for that little. Our dances were $30 & up for that.
Vegas seems out of the question. I don't like the idea of the sheriff's card, plus that place just sucks my soul out so I'm not sure I could make money while there...
Thanks in advance for any advice or tips!!

Christie's is the only place you don't need a license in PHX. The other ones you do, though I did go to a full nude place that didn't need a license. Not sure if it was past a county/city line, or if it had to do with alcohol sales. Re: Christie's I don't think they're SUPER strict on hiring, however the hiring manager did not like my cellulite despite me having dances lined up after my audition with like three guys-- so keep that in mind. I wish I'd work thigh highs :)
There's a little place an hour north of PHX. I don't remember the name but it's a tiny lodge type place that supposedly has some business. The owner says there's quite a few girls who come up from PHX to work. He also would want you (if I recall correctly) want you to work 2-3 days a week (so like Fri, Sat, Sun) and it's a VERY clean place to work. He also offers dancer housing and seemed nice, not creepy when I rolled through town though I didn't work there.
Then there's Flagstaff which I think has two clubs. No info on that, sorry.
You have one club up in Santa Fe that I know of, also no info.
Then you have several clubs down in El Paso to visit, which Tempest666 has said several times that if you're blonde and white you'll bank.
Then there's the Jungle and a couple others (avoid Beavers) in Amarillo. If you're trying a tentative step back into dancing, that's where I'd send you. Little drama. Good management. Nice set-up, no license. There's also a ton of REALLY cheap hotel rooms (think $24.99+tax a night, though I tended towards the $30-40/night ones) since it's a highway town. Don't stay close to the Jungle, but hop up to the 40.
And, if you want to really hop further, there's OKC, and Wichita Falls which I wouldn't recommend only because you have closer clubs that are better options.

Thank you so much for the tips! I think Phoenix is definitely out.
I might try El Paso as you suggested. I'm white but with brown hair, but nothing a little hair dye can't change if it'll make me some $$. I've been wanting a new look anyways. I actually think I might dye my hair no matter which city I end up in, it might help me get a job in my day profession as well. :) They say looks matter no matter what you do for a living if you are a woman.
I'm not too worried about getting hired unless the place doesn't allow tattoos, I do kickboxing & don't have kids so my body is still very firm even though I'm almost 30.
I'm planning on going to these places for about a week at a time, so OKC might not be a bad idea.... My plan is to leave on Sunday or Monday in case I gotta work one of the slow days to work the weekend. Then I can take Wednesday off to rest my feet (I know I'll need it) & maybe see the town, too. :)
