Re: Eeeek! Over bleached!
OMG!!!!! I had something like that happen with me. I am still recovering from the mess I did with my hair. Now my hair is short and ugly but I use clip ins. :P
This is what I think you should do...Since you like the color that is in your hair now just about every other day do a deep conditioning treatment. Go to Sally's and pick up that protein conditioner.
Moroccan oil works great too so use that. The best one I have used is the its a 10 leave in conditioner. I mix it with my Chi Kertain mist.
Idk what Shampoo you are using but use something more gentle. Purelogy is a good brand. Also you need to not wash your hair everyday. Try to go as long as you can with out washing your hair so your oils can get through. I only wash my hair about 2-3 times a week but deep condition a few times between that. I hope it helps!
Oh and when it grows back go to the professional to have them see what they can even put in your hair. It would be best to get a hair cut too. Be VERY careful when using any type of heat on your hair if you do please use some type of heat protection spray!
Re: Eeeek! Over bleached!
Thanks!!!
Since it doesn't seem to really be falling out, I don't think I'm going to cut it off....maybe trim it....I only have shoulder length hair as is, so I don't have much to spare. Luckily I can't SEE the damage; like, no bald/thin patches or anything....so do you really think its necessary to cut it?
We're on the same wavelength with washing. I have VERY oily hair if I don't wash it, which is usually disgusting, but in this case is great because I know I need to build that oil back up. I'm thinking of trying to get away with only conditioning for a whilee...no shampoo unless I really need it.
I'm not using ANY type of heating, at all! No blowdryer, curling iron or straightener.
I guess I'm just a little freaked out and worried that over time, the thinning will be really noticeable. :( It seems to have stopped though; no hairs on my pillow, nothing coming out when I run my fingers through it, etc.
Re: Eeeek! Over bleached!
Ps, my shower head has a mist setting so maybe that will help prevent some breakage...I've heard the simple water pressure from the shower isn't too great for damaged hair
Re: Eeeek! Over bleached!
Same thing happened to me a couple of months ago and my hair is fine now.
LOTS and LOTS of deep condtioning is needed. I also use V05 Hot Oil on my hair and wrap it up with a hot damp towel.
Best thing for your hair is to let your natural oils come through and sit a while... i.e don't wash your hair until it's practically dripping in it's own oils, heh. Also, like EvilChick says; when you *do* wash it, use a very gentle shampoo.
Honestly, the shit us women put ourselves through in our Blonde Ambition ;D
Re: Eeeek! Over bleached!
I bleach my brunette hair once, and me tell you, I looked the yellow pages book, it only lasted a couple of hours, when I dyed my hair back my brunette state.
Re: Eeeek! Over bleached!
I know someone this happened too...you can get away with only bleaching your hair once at a time, then it starts to damage it. Usually you have to go blonde in stages, trying to go there all at once, and this happens usually. Anyways, this chick's hair kept falling out, i think she lost about 7 inches? Initially she got hair extensions but she ended up having to cut it because extensions were just not a good long-term option (they're expensive and you need to replace them about every 2 months). Her hair was pretty fried too :( careful next time!
Re: Eeeek! Over bleached!
I hate thinking about how much I spend on being blonde but I refuse to do it myself ever since I was 16 and ruined it doing it myself right before school pictures :(
Re: Eeeek! Over bleached!
Conditioning is good but your hair needs keratin (aka protein). I strongly suggest you hit up Sallys and pick up some Aphogee. It's a two step process and takes some time but will save your hair. Had you added this step after every bleach you could have avoided this disaster.
I have been bleaching and coloring my own hair for years now. Right now I am platinum and my hair is soft, silky, shiny and healthy! I take huge precautions hence minimal damage.
Adding coconut oil to your bleach also helps.
Some other protein/keratin therapies to try are Emergency by Nexxus and Keratin Complex Infusion (the black bottle). That one is very pricey but the best I've found yet! Good luck and remember to follow up with deep conditioning treatments, leave in's and prevent more damage by avoiding heat styling and over washing!
Enjoy your blonde :)
Re: Eeeek! Over bleached!
Right, I was going to suggest the Aphoghee, I've heard lots of good things about. Is the Keratin in the black bottle by Nexxus, also?
Re: Eeeek! Over bleached!
This happened to last year!! Amla Oil helps

Yeah, Aphogee is great. The Giovanni line also has a keratin treatment. You can also just condition your hair with an egg and put on a shower cap for like 30 minutes. I've tried and it noticeably helped the condition of my hair. You just can't overuse these or it'll cause more harm than good. Wonderful for any kind of processed hair.
