Black Pin Up Girl Anyone?? (Pictures Included)
So after giving up in dancing after only a week at the club.......a year later I am going to try again. I'm a newbie when it comes to EVERYTHING about the dancing world. My friends who have danced told me in order for me (and my personality) I need to make a whole new persona because I am way too nice and too shy. So to kind of boost me up I'm thinking about going the pin up girl route. I am going back to my old club in hopes that they'll hire me again. No one at the club is really in costume just simple outfits so that's good because I would want to stand out. So I'm thinking buying a lot of simple pin up girl costume pieces so I can mix and match things. I have extrmely short hair which I love but I would wear a full lace while at work and have it in a pin up girl style for than likely with a cute hair scarf to match whatever outfit I'm wearing. I was also going to do some research on make up so I could make my makeup dramatic but not crazy. I DO NOT want to be recognizable outside the club....shit I want to barely recognize myself when I look in the mirror. I know I have to put in some money in order to start making money.
So what do you all think about a black pin up girl in a mostly white club (Oasis in Atlanta)???
I'll post a picture of myself below (The rest are included as attachments):

You could always try finger waves in your short hair. Or do a bump & high ponytail in your long hair.
Btw, you have a very pretty face! :)
Re: Black Pin Up Girl Anyone?? (Pictures Included)
Can you twist your natural hair in little seperated peices? My guy's sister is in dreads now since its long enough now but when she first started she used to twist her hair and she always got compliments from girls and dudes on it. If she wore a wig, she had hilights in them, black with strips of red and blonde. That was hott too. I don't know if I answer your questions. Oh she's also Trini Black, I don't know if that matters, and she's also a bit darker Maybe a tad darker than you.

Aw thank you :) and that's what I was going to do. a bump and high ponytail or have it pinned on one side. I would more than likely work with the wig (longer hair) because finger waves don't hold well in my hair even though that would look adorable!!!

You should do a few TFCD shoots to build your portfolio as well... is a good place to start.. its okay to have a friend shoot some stuff of you to put on there then do a profile and do 5-6 shoots to get started...

Cute smile.
There is a music video of Christina Milian, where she has a pinup hair do. Look it up. I forgot the name of the song. Sorry. It looks hot.
I think waves were more of a 1920's fashion, no? The flapper era.

I have no suggestions but love seeing what members look like! You are beautiful and love your natural hair!! I definitely think you can rock the pin up look.
Re: Black Pin Up Girl Anyone?? (Pictures Included)
You could totally pull it off. There's tons of tutorials on how to get the "basics" down on youtube. I love the aesthetic because it's so classic and flirty. I don't see many ways it can go wrong. Go for it!

Thank You. Um I tried to look for it and didn't find it. But check out Beyonce's video- Why Don't You Love Me. I want that EXACT look.

I love to stand out. But only think I'm worried about is that the men won't find it attractive. Most dancers you know where small outfits. But the look I'm going for I'm going to wear mostly high waisted bottoms and a matching bra.....maybe a button up shirt so I can tie the front of it. When I'm stage I want to be able to actually "strip", not just take off 2 pieces of clothing and I'm already naked. I want to be able to tease the boys a little bit ;)
Re: Black Pin Up Girl Anyone?? (Pictures Included)
Also any advice on where I can get sexy high waist bottoms????
And some pin up outfits are just a strapless sexy looking leotard. But if I wear a leotard on stage once I take it off.....again I'll be completely naked. Any idea on how I find a way to layer a leotard so i can take off piece by piece?

What music will you dance to?
Here's a cute makeup tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHbbW...el_video_title

I know I DO NOT want to dance to ANY rap whatsoever.....I would say R&B but there's such a fine line between rap and r&b so I want to stay in the "safe" zone. I really into soul...people like Marsha Ambrosius, and Melanie Fiona, but I don't know if I can necessarily dance to that. If I can't find a genre I like I may tell the DJ that I want slow R&B.....

Thank you :) I would dance with my short hair because personally I LOVE IT! But it looks a mess once a drop of sweat touches it and I don't want to be recognizable outside the club. I feel like I have more a chance of hiding my identity if I wear a wig.
Re: Black Pin Up Girl Anyone?? (Pictures Included)
Sometimes customers don't really "get" the pinup look, so try and stripperfy it a bit, like by having smaller outfits in a pinup style, rather than going all out pinup.
Re: Black Pin Up Girl Anyone?? (Pictures Included)
I think you would look really cute with a hairstyle like the tins from ATL (you know the friends of the kardashians?) and then just really glamorous pin-up makeup.. I wouldn't go all out buying elaborate costumes, cause you'll probably change your style as you go along, and try out what's comfortable. I think corsets and stockings look amazing for work but I find them too impractical, for example..

Believe me I know how you feel I worse stockings, a garter, and a corset to a Halloween Party and I was uncomfortable after only an hour. But I can't think of other things that would look good on me. I have an athletic body (not boyish but I look like a gymnast, which would make sense since I was a gymnast and cheerleader....I have very broad shoulders)....I just want something that's comfortable for me....Because even though I know I'll end up taking my clothes off i don't want customers to see my stretch marks first and the tiny outfits I see some dancers wearing would just show off ALLLLLLL my stretch marks....I want to conceal them as best I can......
Re: Black Pin Up Girl Anyone?? (Pictures Included)
Hmmm so your stretch marks are on your stomach? if it's tight though you can just cover it up but if the skin is loose, a corset might really be your best option. you could get an underbust and a separate bra piece so you can keep it on when you're topless. It's sexy but annoying..
