Re: dark skin and make-up
Well, try checking out the looks in magazines..I'm light, but, in Allure it said darker skins can do both strong eye & lip looks, (usually it's one or the other). They suggested a black eyeliner w/sparkle, it was Milani a drugstore brand, other brands have it too, with a bright lip. Not so great help here, but I'll look for the article.
Do check out the mags though! Go to Barnes/Noble, or the library, & flip through them. There are specific black women's magazines, I'm sure they'd have some ideas for you.

Re: dark skin and make-up
i'm envious - white girls have thinner skin and can't wear as much makeup or nearly as versatile looks.
here are some face charts to look through to get some ideas!

Re: dark skin and make-up
Yes the youtube guru lipshock does amazing work! I dont really do the heavy eye make up thing, I just focus on eye liner and mascara. As far as the best foundation I would suggest bobbi brown, I think it looks incredible and not ashy on darker tones. Also bronzer (nars or physicians formulas)does wonders for dark skin. Put it on your tzone (forehead and brim of your nose) its also great for contouring. And dont be afraid of red lipstick it looks hot IF you get the right shade ( Ruby woo or russian something in Mac are a couple of great choices). These are all tricks that have worked for me Im mocha complexioned maybe a shade lighter than Naomi but pretty much dark skinned.:)
Re: dark skin and make-up
Gold shimmer eyeshadow looks great on dark skin tones! Can't go wrong with anything shimmery
Re: dark skin and make-up
With a great eyeshadow base you can pull off any color eyeshadow especially when it's white based it will make your eyeshadow a lot more vibrant :)
Re: dark skin and make-up
Definitely right. ^^ Try ordering/going to the beauty supply store to check out NYX Jumbo Pencils. Get Milk, it's white (obviously lol) but it's a great base for ALL matte eye shadows. Try copying Nicki Minaj's makeup, although you both aren't the same skin complexion, her looks are fairly simple and still look great. Just a pop of color blended to the crease, dramatic lashes, usually pink lips & blush. She also uses a lot of concealer under her eyes which can work with you or against you, but it's also a look Kim Kardashian does a lot as well.
As far as shading goes and looking for colors, I would suggest Make Up Forever, MAC, Bobbi Brown or any drugstore brand that caters to African American women. In any event if something is too dark or too light you may have to mix it with something else.
Definitely play up your eyes and lips! Lashes, smokey eyes, bold lip colors will all help loads.
Re: dark skin and make-up
Thanks ladieess! time to head to the make-up counter. has anyone done sparkles/ crystals on the face at the club?
Re: dark skin and make-up
Check out the MAC counter they can do some complete looks for you and will match your complexion. Some strip clubs have a makeup artist there as well.

m.a.c foundation is nasty
Re: dark skin and make-up
Someone said Bobby Brown is a good one, not at all. If you wear powders, Sue Devitt or Lamik is great for all tones. For foundations, I've found the oil of olay photo ready works great! I use mac for eyeshadows and blush. and chanel or mac for lipstics. Mac and chanel also has great mascaras and liquid liners. I always have to mix my powders because I have a very red tone with blue underlays so one powder doesn't work, it is either way too dark or light and doesn't match at all so mixing works wonders. As far as club makeup goes, looking flawless is the look you want to achieve, guys with money don't want women who look over done or a clown! Hope that helps.:)
