3 year old pole dancing..literally...

Thoughts?
I'm all for "pole fitness" even outside the stripping club because I do think it is a great form of a work out. (Although I haven't personally tried it yet...may take a class one day) But not sure how I feel about the 3 year old? I mean if the child was older I may be OK with it, but 3? ehhh.....:-\
However I am happy the child is FULLY dressed lol

lol wtf at that site: http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/video...MQSsk48730VSrm, people seem to be taking the fight childhood obesity mandate very seriously.
The girl can work the pole better than me, this and the total creepiness that is Toddler and Tiaras is just, sigh.
Re: 3 year old pole dancing..literally...
I didn't watch the whole thing, but I didn't really see a problem with it. From what I saw it wasn't sexualized, it was just a little girl doing some tricks. Now if she were have naked doing some booty popping then I'd have an issue with it..
Re: 3 year old pole dancing..literally...
I don't know how I feel about this. On the one hand, yes, I think that pole dancing is not necessarily sexual, and that, if done right, it can be as graceful and beautiful as ballet. However, the issue for ME would be that OTHER people likely wouldn't see it that way, and I would not be up for having my kid doing this in front of people, or telling people she does it, because other people would perceive it as sexual, and it would possibly result in her getting the wrong kind of attention from the wrong kind of people. And don't even get me started on how girls are being sexualized at such a young age, such as with beauty pageants. Yeah, I know the parents all claim that it's harmless and promotes self-esteem and all that...but it's quite disturbing and is a fucking breeding ground for predators, and I imagine that kind of attention to a girl who pole dances would be ten times worse than to a girl who just competes in pageants.
Re: 3 year old pole dancing..literally...
hmmmmmmm I'm not sure how this makes me feel either. On one hand I see pole fitness as some type of gymnastic but on the other hand, the majority of the population vues it as sexualized. Because of that, if I had a three year old, I wouldn't show her or allow her to pole dance.
Re: 3 year old pole dancing..literally...
I don't like it, but I'm looking at it at yet another way and that is it could be dangerous. What if she gets hurt? That aside though and I don't think little girls should be sexualized at all, and though I don't think this is the case, sexualizing little girls is a problem in this society.
Re: 3 year old pole dancing..literally...
I think it comes down to the way it is being taught to the individual. There is always a right and wrong way to approach a situation, and in the case of polework which is already hyper-sexualized I think it is important (and completely possible) to desexualize completely if you are exposing a child to it. For example: Pole dancing is honestly my hobby, and I have one up in my spare bedroom atm. I use it frequently to practice new pole tricks and combinations because I don't have the time to practice at work. My daughter (who is 3) has some amazing upper body stregnth and can climb it and do a few pole tricks while I am spotting her. As far as she is concerned, mommy and her are simply working out.
This is because my home pole is treated so much differently than the work pole. At home I'm practicing, so I'm messing up all the time and usually trying to figure out what transitions to use to get into or to get out of a trick. I end up dong the same trick 45 times. There is nothing sexy about my appearance and infact, I probably look atrocious. I don't dance to music and I don't do a 'routine' of any sort. I also don't do anything sexually suggestive: no floor work, no spinning, nothing involving going spread eagle, no booty popping or ass shaking of any kind, no heels. So to me, since I have taken all of the strippery aspects out of it becomes simply, a workout.

LOL @ the comment on that site saying the video was "practically child pornography"
I don't think so, Tim.
Mama gets to do whatever kind of exercise she wants to do. Naturally, her daughter will be curious and try to emulate it. Notice the daughter's emulation included clothing and basic gymnastic moves, no writhing or wiggling or "glances." Obviously her mother isn't encouraging the sexual aspects. Would I have my daughter doing that? Probably not, mainly for safety as mentioned above, but also because, like... nah. People talk. I'd just laugh if she tried it and then say "that's mommy's exercise" and get a jazz dance dvd or something that we could both do without stigma.
Not a huge deal though...
Re: 3 year old pole dancing..literally...
I don't see a problem with it since it isn't sexualized. You see little girls in dance classes/competitions in way more sexual outfits and dance routines. I think you just have to be careful at what you put your daughter in anyways anything now adays has become much more sexual than the past, which is very saddening.

THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!
And for the little 3 year old pole dancer, I don't see anything wrong with it. The only reason most people would freak out after seeing it would be because most people unconsciously have a negative schema that associates a pole with a slutty stripper. lol. Its a fucking POLE! Come on people...

I've been watching Home Improvement before bed every night the past week, and I literally laughed out loud at this. Thank you for that.

I know, right?!?
They need to calm the fuck down. People have a right to their opinions, and if someone doesn't feel comfortable with that idea, fair enough. But there is no way in hell that came close to child pornography.::)
To me, she looked like your average little girl having fun, the same way she would on the monkey bars in a playground.
Re: 3 year old pole dancing..literally...
I don't see anything wrong here. She was doing swings and spins. She wasn't grinding on it or anything like that.
If it was a tether ball pole, would people still be freaking out? I used to play on things when I was her age all the time in the same way. *shrug*

Re: 3 year old pole dancing..literally...
It won't play on my phone :( but from reading the comments it doesn't seem bad. I sold my first x-pole to a waitress with two kids, 3 and 5, and they were swinging around it and trying to climb it before she even had a chance to get on it.
I think the people seeing it as something sexual have some serious problems. I used to climb all over the monkey bars when I was little and there's nothing sexual about that, it's basically the same activity, minus a few bars.
Re: 3 year old pole dancing..literally...
I was expecting to be disgusted or horrified, but it was actually very cute! She must be so strong...did you see her flip upside down and climb that thing?! Although, I was a little concerned she might fall. There should be a pad at the base for her.
