Range of Focus for Logitech
This may seem a really odd question..BUT.
I have been experimenting with using my logitech and my digital camera to film myself to create clips as well as taking screenshots for photosets. I'm not having a whole lot of luck so far! Grrr
The logitech just seems very grainy and blurry unless I am Really, REALLY close to it, and I can't get a lot of the angels etc that I want being that close. I have taken the autofocus off (in fact, I have taken every "auto" off) and set it to the furthest zoom, but it still seems pretty "pixely".
I can use the digital camera, but the issue is that then I can't see what I am filming - I'm not a fan of spending half an hour filming something and then checking it and finding out that one arm is out of the frame!!
Any advice? What do you girls do? Is there a way to change the range of focus on the logitech so that you can film further back? Or am I just being super picky about the quality of my clips?
I really, really, really want to sell content, but this seems to damn hard to figure out!! Help!!! I know that as soon as I get the equipment figured out, I will be pumping stuff out at a record pace, but I'm just having so many equipment issues!!
Re: Range of Focus for Logitech
Undo the autofocus and move it to the left of the focus range (mountain, not flower).
Sounds like you might've done that already? If it's still not working, something might be wrong with the cam. Do you have the C910?
Re: Range of Focus for Logitech
Ugh I know what your talking about I just thought my eyes were being stupid. I use my C910 and anything over 2 feet away from the cam looks so grainy to me, and I have moved that stupid focus bar from here to the moon and back lol.
Nothing of use to add saddly but I really wanna know why one of the best webcams cant handle a few feet without scuzzing up, it confuses/enrages me and I have been super bad about doing new pic's and videos because of it xD
Re: Range of Focus for Logitech
I use the C910 and most of my work is more than 2 feet from it. It works fine. That's why I'm wondering if there's an issue with the individual camera. Maybe you need to update the software?

Autofocus is off, focus moved to the mountain pic, software updated.....STILL fuzzy!!
Funnily enough, it looks fine when I am actually filming it, it is just when I go into editing software (and I have tried four or five different programs) and start looking at it closely, I can see that the edges aren't nice and sharp, the colors aren't nice and sharp.....Which is why I filmed a bunch of stuff, it all looked fine, and then I went to edit them all and they were all just sliiiightly blurry and cheap-looking.
I wonder if I may just be being really picky, and wanting stuff to be fantastic quality, and am frustrated when it isn't...grrr. Jess - would you mind if I sent you a pic so you can see what I mean?
Re: Range of Focus for Logitech
^^^ this is one of the drawbacks of a non-interchangeable 'fixed focal length' lens camera design. To get high resolution at a distance the laws of physics dictate both the use of a 'stronger' lens, plus 'stronger' light levels.
If you're serious about wanting to create HD video clips or webcam streams at a distance, you might want to check out
Obviously this camera and lens aren't in the same price range as fixed focal length webcams, but 'there's no such thing as a free lunch'.
